Indie Hour - The Howler
- May 20, 2013
Feast your eyes on the beautiful hand-drawn environments and then wipe them as you laugh at Ed and Jess' efforts playing this voice-controlled ballooning puzzler. You will see how video games can make us cry on this episode of Indie Hour!
Two commentators trying to narrate a game which is controlled by the volume of their voices = some really hilarious interactions.
Thanks for all your feedback guys! Consider giving The Howler a like on Steam Greenlight if you dig it.
Interesting concept. Normally I already have problems with games because of the sound, most of the time I use headphones, this would be a game that I'd very rarely be able to play (at least using the voice mode, and without voice mode this game is pointless imo.)
Also, it may just be me but I'm really getting tired of "beautiful hand-drawn environments". To be honest if I wasn't told that these games are hand-drawn I wouldn't know. Which begs the question, does it even matter how it's drawn? The only way I could see it matter to some people is if they have something against computer technology, but then these are computer games so that doesn't really work out.
I think it does respond to pitch, I noticed the balloon rising faster when Jess was "singing". The game looks fun and silly, looking forward to trying it out probably because you two made it look so entertaining and terrifying at the same time. :)
fun game but this video was painful to watch hahaha. doing the same thing over and over again when the game said keep it level and rise before the chimney to past it.
Had so much fun watching this :)
Dare I say: Surprise party game of the year? Yeah I think it's safe to call it.
By the way, you can get the game at http://howler.com
Oh you guys are so cute together. Hope to see more of this. I'm buying this on my iPhone because of this video, thanks. ;)
That was really funny to watch.
Jess has a talent at signing as well!
I guess its going to be really funny playing it with a bunch of friends, ns review!
@InquisitorCrox "Jess has a talent at signing as well!"
