Just how bad are the PS3 fanboys laughing at us over this one. All these years of wanting at least a MGS 4 port or ultimate edition on the 360 and not only do we not get that .....we get rumors of an exclusive 360 game and then this.......a piss poor Raiden game. The one most ridiculed character of the whole series gets a "special" game for the 360. I honestly think this is just to punish and laugh at 360 owners even more. God Bless us.
The voice acting/cut scenes/story in this game look absolutely terrible. Skip to Ground Zeroes.

But MGR it's on another level, played the demo that was on the ZOE HD collection and it was fucking crazy. And they still have not showed all Raiden's power ups.
1 Like the voice acting for raiden is FUCKING horrible. what is with the gravely voice... it isnt cool or aggressive sounding, it just makes him sound like he has a mouth full of dicks.
Looks repetitive, restrictive, and far too ridiculous to be taken seriously. The voice acting seems cheesy and they try much too hard to seem cool with the combat system and cutscenes.
i dont know what to think about this game. On one hand playing as a ninja in metal gear is a fun idea. The combat looks fun and enjoyable. However the cut scenes were just awful and the graphics dont really look nice. I dunno, I can see how this would be great for MGS fans and for hack and slash fans as well. As only a casual fan of either, it really doesn't seem that interesting. Hope it gets awesome reviews though and does well.

Looks good but will never compare this to the real Metal gear series.

2 Like Apparently I was watching the new Devil May Cry trailer....o wait, this is metal gear?? I guess its like Metal Gear VR Missions, a side thing, so its ok for what it is, im sure its prob fun n all, but i thought it was a new actual Metal Gear Solid. I feel hoodwinked, o well, I will still prob wait for the new MGS with all its knocking on walls goodness and then c4 them! im sure it's a great game for what it is, but I won't be getting it.

I don't know about all of you guys, but whenever there was something in MGS involving something ninja, like Raiden or Gray Fox, I remember seeing some people commenting "Damn I wish I could do that as Snake." or "Whoa I wonder what's its like playing as those characters like that.." Or something along those lines. Then they get that which is pretty much what Metal Gear Rising is, and now they're complaining how they want their MGS to stay the same, WHICH IT STILL IS. It NEVER has changed, and there is further proof of this because of Ground Zeroes and MGS5. Because this is Metal Gear RISING. It's not the same game.
People need to understand that all this Ninja stuff has been in MGS since the original with Gray Fox, and now you're actually playing from the Ninja's kill everything perspective like Raiden in MGS4, rather than the stealth perspective of Snake.
well put. I never could understand why people are upset about it, especially since platinum games is awesome anyway. On top of that...i remember bein a kid and thinking Dragonball and Dragonball Z were awesome...but GT came along without Akira Toriyam and it was even more intense and better! It's not like some people who never played the MGS series took over and made this. The guys at platinum games are huge fans and have as much respect for the series as any of us, if not even more so! I think it's a breath of fresh air...sometimes the same MGS formula can get a bit stale. I like the change.
1 Like For a truly Metal Gear fan it is really offensive that this game is being called as Metal Gear. Alright, if Hideo has this new idea with Raiden well welcome, but why call it Metal Gear seriously Hideo, I'm dissapointed!! It offensive with the very escence and MG's original lovely gameplay :(
speak for yourself...i have liked Metal Gear since the demo on ps1. MGS 1, if anything, is THE reason i have wanted this game so bad for many years! Ever since Grey Fox, i have wanted to be a cyborg ninja. If this game isn't a huge fan service, i don't know what is. I doubt there has been many better games than this will be : ) If anything, I would be bothered if it DIDN'T say Metal Gear...and I have played and beaten all of them. I'm no less a fan than anyone...Fans made this game anyway.
@edinsaw Hideo didn't develop this game. He is working on Ground Zero. This was a side project developed by Platinum Games which Hideo had very little involvement with. You would think a true Metal Gear fan would know this. :P

@stealth6spy @edinsaw You got the damn right in that MG fan part, it is just that work keeps me out of Video Game world these years haha, anyway my complain is only for the name, Metal Gear is an icon, you can't change an icon. Thats why I said, the idea is OK, but they should called Raiden Project or something like that I don´t know. Of Course is Marketing strategy matter here!!

Funny, some people I know call the patient stealth action of MGS boring. I personally think its exciting, but to say that is exciting, and not MGR when they're both pretty damn crazy.. Yeah you pretty much lost all credibility.
I'm looking forward to visiting the more sinister side of Raiden...about time they made him less emo and more 'metal' hahaha

1 Like What happened to the unique MGS stealthy-action we have all come to love? MGS2-MGS4 were all awesome games so why did they decide to make a Bayonetta-style game when they had a great style of gameplay before.
@jbridgesjr I really dont get what is so hard to understand,this is a spin off from MGS,the next real MGS is in development and is using a new engine called Fox so what are people complaining about
1 Like @jbridgesjr You've got to keep in mind that this is just a spin-off. The old Metal Gear Solid gameplay that we all know and love is alive and kicking as we've seen by Ground Zero. Also bare in mind that this is developed by Platinum Games rather than Kojima and so by doing this game, they have not delayed the next true MGS by any great stretch of time.
@jbridgesjr Welll... I guess that is why this game is called Metal Gear Rising and not Metal Gear Solid. Sure they both have Metal Gear in the title, but the other part suggests otherwise in what the games are presenting. Rising looks cool and everything, but I'm not sure if I want to get it. I feel as if I should be done with everything MGS related since I thought MGS4 was a pretty good end to it all.

I mean, they are still working on amazing traditional games in the MGS universe...this is more like candy for those of us who have always been jealous that we cant be the cyborg ninjas instead. Like in MGS 4, watchuing raiden in those cutscenes, I began to feel sad I had to use boring old snake haha. I love the MGS style of games, but I hope that Rising continues to be a very strong series on its own! There is something in the MGS universe for almost every type of gamer now, so really it feels more complete to me. I am sure we are not too far off from an MGS game that features some RPG growth elements as well. MGS 3 was so fun, being a spy in the most fascinating espionage era I can think of...but this is definitely a nice breath of fresh air. Personally, I have always liked the MGS style of games, and ninja games...so to have them both in one game with Raiden is pretty cool in my view. The stealth style is what I loved as well, but the cyborg ninjas always made me wish I could be that kind of character. I FULLY enjoy platinum games as well, so to have Kojipro and Platinum on one collaboration is super SUPER awesome. Maybe the next one can even be on FOX Engine? That would be pretty neat as well.

2 Like At least you realize this. People also tend not to realize the potential that Platinum Games holds. Also, this could be a new generation of Metal Gear actually. A SEPARATE one from Metal Gear Solid. If this game does well enough, it may spawn sequels.
@stealth6spy @S0mEGuY12 i agree with you, but my point is, i just don't want to wake up tomorrow and see an "otacon solo adventure" just to kojima get richier as Peter Jackson are doing with the hobbit. Metal Gear universe is as important as Ridley Scott's Alien world... Kojima should treat it with more respect.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Metal Gear Solid and acknowledge this is a long way away from the traditional series, but as long as they keep the good old Metal Gear Solid gameplay coming in other games (Ground Zero) then I see nothing wrong with having a small spin-off to please the fans who wanted to play as Raiden. Now, if they instead forgot completely about their stealth series and turned all of their future games into action titles like this (see Splinter Cell) then I would be pissed.

yes, my messege means that the team who did this does a fine job and so Kojima has no need to worry about the next generation. And FURTHER, since it takes [place 4 years AFTER MGS 4, it would pretty much be the next generation. Kojipro itself has confirmed this as a canon title....
I love action games but I prefer my MGS to stay stealthy so I'm not really that interested in this game. But I did get to play the demo when I brought whatever game it was a while back and it wasn't bad but like I said not my cup of tea...
MGS will always be stealthy. MGR is kind of a nice break from that, especially in between MGS releases I'd say eh
