That last award's category seemed very stacked in the favor of SWTOR ha ha. A giant millions of dollar production vs. a bunch of social games. Hmmm I wonder who'll win...:P
This award giveaway can be summed up in one word... fail.
And someone needs to say it, that horrible host... please never again mate.
@LucasArts- GW2 just came out, it would be too early to give them an award
@The_Last_Ride But WOW mists of pandaria is in ,. and it it's lunching date was after GW2 Hmmmm
@HailHellfire It supposed to be in this year with WOW and SWTOR because GW2 was out b4 WOW
All those events are payed from games publishers.. who pays much wins more awards... and that's it.
I think g2-gw2 business model is quite good but in-game content makes this model good, as you can get everything even playing .. so all contents are available for both paying and not paying gamers (except only for some fashion items btw you can get gems even with in-game currency) . That is a very good business model for gamers.
What developer MUST understand is that they have to make games for GAMERS and not only for business (SW:TOR, TSW , LOTRO and so on). As klong date gamer i cannot figure out why developers don't put efforts on game experience configurations. I mean why in skyrim i cannot setup for example auto-balanced world or static world(so i can play with enemies evolving relating to my level or not ! ) Or for example in some fps why not to put an option (health regen over time yes/not so without or with medikits) ... We are livin in 2012 ... and we still cannot CONFIGURE THE GAME EXPERIENCE !! .
So as harcore gamer i'll setup the game for maximum challenge ... because i like challenging games (need of brain and keyboard+mouse skills :D ) BUT if i'm an occasional gamer i'll set the game to "dumb" ( :D ) mode and i just play and enjoy the story without having to face a too hard game....
For example on the latest X-com why i cannot configure the game experience like :
- use all stats
- use time units yes/no
- (before stating a mission) select combat mode turn or real time fight ( the x-com apocalyps had it more than 10 year ago !! )
- units classes on/off ( manually costomize units)
and so on ...
SO i can CONFIGURE my game experience in single or multi player...
That is what we need.
I think that the gaming industry is trying to push microtransaction payment models as the next wave of the future and even tries to associate gamers who are "down with it" as being "cool" (see 00:12). I quit The Old Republic (TOR) and Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) when they started with microtransaction land. I'd rather pay 14.99 a month and unlock the entire game (think WoW) and not have to feel like I'm underpowered because I wasn't nickeled and dimed for much more than 14.99 on microtransaction games that let you pay for power. Alternatively, I'll pay the flat retail price of 59.99 to have most or all of the game at my fingertips (is GW2 like this?). If you guys start forcing microtransaction models for all of your games because it works for you financially even though some (or most?) of us who watch what we spend on games on a monthly basis don't like it, then I'll be forced to spend 7.99 on fantasy novels and start reading for recreation rather than play games. The retail prices (59.99) are working I suspect, even if WoW is the last majorly successful subscription based game. You guys just found a section of gamers who are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money on microtransactions... but we're not all on board.
@Jeremy012 GW2 is the furthest thing from pay to win and completely worth paying the retail price.
Seriously, to hell with League of Loosers!!! I can't believe that shit game won three awards.
They really need to get more audio from the crowd. It looks like the host isn't even getting a pity laugh from the crowd. Maybe he isn't, but I'm guessing it could be less awkward.
Sorry to double post (really, you haven't felt a need to add an edit button by now........), but my main reason for enjoying these awards is finding hidden gems I never would have known about otherwise. Thanks GS!
Yeah, the painful lack of an edit button is more than irritating). I hate this livefyr commenting system.
Damn! Just started my vacation and this is happening less than 2 hours away! Instead of hearing about good shtick like this, I'm stuck with people talking about how the Spurs "will do it FOR REAL" this year.
@aceventura2000 Ofcourse they did! Don't be a hater. Just because you dont like it doesn't mean the whole world doesnt.
This "dubstep" makes me want to puke. What happened to real music? Or am I just old?
