Feedbackula - EA Online Pass Paranoia!
- May 17, 2013
EA has abandoned its online pass scheme -- a bit of news we thought you'd be delighted by. Turns out not everyone is rushing to thank EA. Johnny investigates.
Hey, Johnny so is your shirt suppose to describe what a real man suppose to look like?...and you still didn't tell me when you and jane hooked up
Hey, Johnny! Next week's Feedbackula must be about the EA engineer's comments about the Wii U, and you MUST promise to read all 16500+ before compiling the episode.
The only reason they are doing it is because used games will not even be able to be played online on next gen. Yes this includes the PS4, if you do your homework you'll find out Sony is leaving it up to the publisher. And eventually they will cutoff servers for old current gen games.
I think this has to do with the CEO stepping down, and EA trying to get back on track the way they use to be.
Oh how funny it would have been if they added "This episode of feedbackula has been sponsored by EA" at the end of the video.
P.S: No toast?
So . . this guy is making fun of people that are sick of their privacy being violated.???
It's almost as if he came from a place that's trying to recreate the novel 1984, with draconian "offensive speech" laws, and cameras tracking their citizens every move.
Ofcourse. This is coming from a guy who's country has more cameras monitoring you in one City then whole US. He's used to giving up his rights.
I hate EA as much as anyone but to voted the worst company in America twice, when there are people out there crashing the global economy for short term profits and causing oil spills all over the place! That is a bit much.
@Imperiusmax Please realise, that everyone in the world was allowed to vote for that, most of the world has no interaction with any american bank or oil company..... EA screws over everyone. If I had a choice between a company that causes me anoyence on a near daily basis, or some bank I don't even know about, the choice is easy
Why would i spend my money on a company that doesn't give a shit about my feedback on their products? There are plenty of good companies out there that actually work with the gaming community, I will invest my money in them.
I have stopped buying games from EA a while back and this is not likely to change.
People hate online passess? Go figure, well at least EA finally figured out that it's a rip off plain and simple. Anyway, another great episode, but the Mexican theme is getting old; and they're not even near Mexico, there in lies the funny, I guess.
Am looking forward to the rants about that quip about the Declaration of Independence.
Admittedly, as an Australian, our independence seemed to be much less of a struggle.
AU: Mum - we want to govern ourselves, please.
UK: OK. You're miles away as it is and frankly, we're really busy.
AU: Cool. You'll still look out for us though, right?
UK: Yeah, we're good.
Freakin' Awesome Episode!! I love the ending. EA sucks. But I mostly just dislike their over bearing "Jerry Jones owner and MVP of Dallas Cowboys" approach to publishing games. Take 2 ftw!!!
It's a shame really, everybody was genuinely pleased that EA put the right foot forward and removed online passes but instead of turning over a new leaf they blatantly assault another publisher like Nintendo rather than establish a good public relations with their fan base. It is sad when you consider that the devs now not only have to deal with Electronic Arts' infamous crunch time but they also have to deal with the fact that their PR has now resorted to that of a tantrum.
@Vince21C What the engineer from EA said about Nintendo was spot on. They didn't make a public statement as a company. One employee tweeted and later removed the comments. But, I agree with him 100%. The Wii-U is a joke.
@VBVCSHARP @Vince21C People represent their companies. It's like the Adam Orth thing taught no one nothing... There is a reason why people refer to him as "the engineer from EA" and not his name. His name is absolutely irrelevant, and even if he thought he was speaking for himself, he really wasn't.
Johnny looks like Breaking Bad's Walter on the ad for this feature. If Johnny was to cook Meth and wear one of those suits from the show, he would be a Rubber Johnny!!!
I pirate their games anyway...Take that EA ! Thanks for making it possible for me to play your games online for free from now on....MUHAHAHAHAHA ~!!!
I believe the hatred of EA is stupid. Its a video game company. There are worse things in the world to hate. I don't understand how there is so much passion to hate a gaming company that is only meant to make make games for profit like every other gaming company. People don't seem to understand how strong the word hate is and its not cool to hate EA.
@Mkeegs79 BP is better than EA.
@Mkeegs79 That's a very good point--I strongly disagree with a lot of EA's business practices, both now and in the past, but it's not hatred. Hate is a really strong word. I doubt most people really hate EA: as Johnny said, hyperbole is alive and well. Especially on the internet.
@Mkeegs79 They aren't the most hated company, they are just hated by the people that regularly go on the internet and care enough to actually put in votes on the poorly done polls.
@Mkeegs79 I much rather "hate" Pfizer or BP.
You wanna make me happy EA? Stop with the benefits for people not on a budget. I bought the Mass Effect Trilogy used for $20 cheaper, and I got docked $30 worth of content that's free if you bought it new. Sorry that I'm not loaded and looking to get the most for my money.
@Ceadre It seems fair though. I mean you did buy it used.
@Crystal_McGhee @Ceadre Funny, no other industry operates like that. If you buy a used car, Ford doesn't bill you for wanting to use the airconditioner. If you buy a used home, the original contracter doesn't bill you for wanting to use the closet space. If you buy a used movie, Paramount doesn't charge you if you want to watch the last 15 minutes.
You have a strange concept of "fair."
i actually agree with the people who say they should never have implemented it anyway.
why celebrate? for them removing something we hated, that they put there themselves? that like if a guy kicked you in the shins everyday for a year and then suddenly stopped doing that. you'd be happy, of course, but you wouldn't go to him and say ''good of you'', you'd think ''finally''.
