These are GameSpot's nominees for the 2012 RPG of the Year.
@ThingaMaAlien I agree Kingdoms of Amalur: nominee for most overlooked RPG of 2012. Some people havent even heard of it and the reviews are shocking compared to the game, its fun check it out.
Am i the only one that wants FFXIII-2 there? Because it is worthy of being there.
I'll reiterate once more: Xenoblade has been awarded the platform Wii last year and cannot be repeated again. Check the videos in Xenoblade Chronicles before making such judgement that the game has to be here for this year awards. The Last Story is the only game on the Wii nominated. No matter the skepticisms or being underestimated in its accessibility, this game, The Last Story, will stay until the Gamespot Staff decides on which game gets the top nomination.
@king4pirates ME 3 is not FPS mannn
where is Persona 4 Golden though?its the absloute winner!
Mass Effect: FPS
Torchlight: Action
GW2: Action
the other two: console games
Fucking terrible year for PC RPGs: I vote for my second playthrough of Witcher 2 or Skyrim's
Well, looking at it at as that game only, Dragon's Dogma will probably win because it's "Open World" and that's a fashionable trend amongst game reviewers, where Mass Effect 3 will get knocked down as, "too linear," "corridor shooter," and all the other swears game reviewers attach to games they don't like for social reasons and want to sound objective.
Guild wars 2... personally beats all in the competition, even though other games are good too (well, some)
Really hard choice........If I had to choose between Draons Dogma and Trine 2 i'd have to pick......Dragon's Dogma, just because it was a VERY REFRESHING breath of fresh air :)
Last Story or Mass Effect 3,but where the heck is Xenoblade Chronicles? That would of had my number one vote for sure
@shaggyaz Was already present last year, because in Europe was avaible from September 2011.
@goldsnake90 Thanks Goldsnake. It was really bothering me seeing it missing(since it came out this Summer in the US). Them going off the Euro release explains everything.
Thank you gamespot for having the balls to not nominate Diablo 3. The game was/is garbage. Still no PvP 8 months after release is embarrassing. Most of the skills suck, item system is TERRIBLE even with improved legendaries, hardly any randomization, weekly maintenance means its pretty much available only 6 days a week, tons of content cut before release it just goes on and on. At least they got their greedy RMAH up and running oh wait... people lose items/money ALL THE TIME.
No Kingdoms of Amalur? I know it wasn't original but I think it best embraced the genre
No Dark Souls PTD, T2 was somewhat of a letdown, ME3... just no, go away EA. Last Story... heard good things, but idk enough to say anything, and no Xenoblade Chronicles. This list is shameful.
I would say guildwars, but its online so its in a bit of diferent category...I prefer Dragons Dogma....as for Mass effect,it wasnt bad but due to the hype it was a big failure
Last Story is not bad but certainly not as good as Xenoblade Chronicles, which is the best RPG I played this year, even better than most of the nominees.
