F1 2012 and its not even close. Don't get me wrong the other racing games are pretty good as well, but c'mon arcade racing games getting best racing game is kind of a joke. I guess they gotta cater to racing fans who probably don't know how to shift gears manually, play with controllers, and don't have multi monitor setups
Sonic & All-Stars Racing was my surprise game of the year! It definitely gets my vote for Racing Game of the Year...
my vote is NFSMW, it was going to be a tie with the new Sonic racing game but I heard fell short in a lot of areas.
Forza Horizon, for F1 2012, DiRT Showdown is ok, but nothing special, but is still a great game, never played Sonic, but not into those kart racers much (but is still a great game for those who like those racers) and NfS was just shit. Why it got all the praise I don't know, it was terrible.

I didn't like Horizon- call me a Forza snob but it's just Forza dumbed down to an incredible degree and should have been called something else. Beyond that the story line in Horizon even gets mocked by my 12 year old for being dumb.
Dirt Showdown is a close second. It's hilariously fun and a simple distraction. It's multiplayer celebrates what most online races become anyway- a comedy of collisions.
@TheLamaKnows Just remember Horizon is a racer, so story was just a slap on to give it some direction, and it works for what it is. Yes it is a dumb story, but at least it held the game together and gave it some direction. I'm not saying you have to like it, but also the point of it was to give a more arcade game, but still keeping some Sim elements, and it did just that, it's a spin off not a true Forza, I hope a true open world Forza get's made. Ok your don't like it, not saying you have to (I said that before...) anyway, just trying to help you understand why it is how it is.
@SpazldNinjaDude I get the notion behind it. And you're right that it actually does a fairly good job of what it tries to do. Horizon isn't a bad game- it's just not a Forza game, and could have been called anything else. More like if the newest CoD had only target practice shooting and no actual combat. Even if it was the best target practice sim ever, would that be CoD?
What it suffers from is being generic.
Forza stood out for hyper-realism. Horizon is just another driving game among many similar titles. Not only is it one among many now, but its not as good as other arcade style racers.
Don't get me wrong, I may be snobby about my sim-level racing, but I do enjoy the arcade games too, I just already have a half dozen of those to choose from, but only one Sim-level racer for xbox, Forza.

@Xero1246 I liked naughty dog more when they used to do cartoon style games. Uncharted games are pretty good, but i dont like Nathan Drake's personality.
Forza Horizon all the way, awesome customization, gigantic array of cars, nice world to explore.
Everything here has been done to death except one, Sonic All-stars Transformed with cars, planes and boats. Uniqueness counts to me so it gets my vote.
Forza Horizon by far for me. The best racing game in years, and up there with the best ever imo.
Great soundtrack too.
Forza Horizon, beautiful fast cars able to be driven on miles of open road... just a perfect combination.

All great games but my favorite was SSX. I wish that game had more love. Hopefully they continue the franchise.
