Trine 2 looks downright awesome. Haven't played either 1 and have followed them for a while but this was the first time I got to see footage of 2.
I really hope the 5347636th 2D Mario won't win this. My favorite was Trine 2, although I think Spelunky has more fans around the Gamespot office and I've heard great things about Closure too.
They know Trine 2 actually came out last year, right? That said, Spelunky gets my vote.
All great games, but in tha land of platforming Mario is still the knig, even after 25 years
lol been playing Spelunky like crazy lately . . . but Super Mario Bros. will probably win.
although i don't own a Wii U...but sill, we all know that there is no point betting against Mario when it comes to platformers .
New Super Mario Bros aka Super Mario Bros NES remade for the 25th time because Nintendo failed the creativity class in college.
@kiramasaki No problem with that. The games have never lost their fun factor, and that's the only thing that matters with Mario games. Besides, using that logic, we can say the same thing for CoD, Halo, Zelda, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, God of War, Uncharted, Killzone, MGS, etc. The graphics and locations change, but the gameplay rarely does.
Spelunky could take it, but like McShea said, never bet against Nintendo, specially with GS claiming that New Super Mario Bros WiiU is the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World, i think it will be a close one but Super Mario will take it.
Trine is in this since its released on the wii u as well..
Same goes for closure since its released this year on ps3..
But i think that mario or spelunky will win
New Super Mario Bros. U, Trine 2 and Spelunky are all great and very different games. I'm happy if any of them win.
Most likely it'll be Trine 2, but I have no problems with it being New Super Mario Bros. U.
