The reason you couldn't kill him is because he didn't want you to feel satisfied and he had the power over you. No matter what you think, you are never in control in Rapture.
In the Siren Alley trailer, is that Sofia's voice? I'm thinking it is since she's named as the main antagonist. CAN'T WAIT! The Brute Splicers look tough, but nothing some good plasmids and heavy weaponry can't handle.
I was only disappointed in one thing in the original Bioshock. When the time came to kill Ryan, I really wanted to use my arsenal. The golf club was a cruel way for him to commit suicide, but I should've at least have been able to control the swings.
I bought Bioshock for the PS3 a week ago. Played through it 1 1/2 times since and now am doing survival mode with V-Cs off to get my Platty for it. It is a classic. I think I'll do survival mode with V-Cs off for Bioshock 2 as I don't want to play it >1 times to get the Platty. Survival mode the XBOX version lacked. I had to search hard to find a copy at a Gamestop store. Seems few copies for PS3 were made, and most were for XBOX. Bet it will be much more even now as more PS3's are out there.
I didn't like in the preview how so many things were so identical to Bioshock (menus when searching bodies, etc.) Seems the only difference in BS2 menus is the frame some are in is fancier.
Not sure about the new hack interface (seems to test reaction time only). May be difficult for some of us old gamers to get in the blue part of the meter for bonuses.
I liked the BS2 preview unlocked at the end of BS where she is holding a Big Daddy doll at the beach. Appears to be an adult woman whereas those in the preview appear to be 12-13 (makes sense--10 years on from BS).
First day buy of course. Every Gamestop here in WA is heavily promoting the game, with the whole front of the store windows plastered in BS2 posters.
Anyway, Bioshock 2 will be a preorder. Sad I can't play it on day 1 as I will be on vacation. Want to play it when I can stay up and play it in 1080i on my 42" Plasma.
This trailer made me want to play Bioshock all over again, can't wait for the sequel. @Hladilnik why would they change something that is already amazing, and risk to make something the fans don't like? My main concern is the story itself. It pretty much ended in Bioshock, so I just hope they came up with something good in this sequel, like 'same story different character' (I know that's somewhat impossible, but would be great anyway)
I absolutely loved the first Bioshock! If you haven't played it, be sure to buy it for ten bucks and play it before Bioshock 2 releases. Satisfaction guaranteed! This is my most anticipated game of 2010. Can't wait to get back to Rapture!
i loved the first one. just went back through to try to get a few more of the trophies i might've missed. looking forward to this and have had it pre-ordered for a few months!
I wouldn't mind a repeat of the first game, but I'm sure #2 will have a lot more twists and turns. I just went back and played Bioshock, and I can't wait to put on a Big Daddy suit and kill 'em all! I still think Bioshock is one of the most original and kick a$$ games of all time. More games and FPS of this quality will result from having such a great game to mimic, or so I hope.
It's funny how people expect BioShock 2 to be "different" with different graphics than part one... how much of a difference should this one be? It's still in RAPTURE. Or did you want it in outer space? Or under ground? How about a desert with tanks and nukes?! That would be amazing!
We can call it Call of du... Rapture, yeah! Call of Rapture Modern Plasmids! lol
It does look remarkably similar to the first game...I just dont know if this wouldn't just be a repeat play of the same game...with slightly different scenery
@DM2438 I completely agree. Graphics looks the same as in first game. Andt this multiplayer mode is just another version of capture the flag. This one should be called capture a little sister.
I don't do multiplayer much, unless it's co-op, but I have to admit that this looks interesting. Well-presented, in my book. Makes me wonder just how much more spectacular the campaign is going to be...
Man, can I see a Bishock 2 non multiplayer trailer, because seriously, that is not what I am buying the game for. If the single player sucks, man am I going to be pissed becasue I trying to spend money on games that deserve it, not just to support companies. And on top of that, the mutliplayer looks very over the top and corny, that just an opinion off of what I see, not of what I have played of course. Look at the way characters slide around and the graphics are far from impressive. Man hope this game turns out to be classic like the first.
I'm not as into this version. Bioshock was awesome, one of my favorites. I just don't think the sequel is going to love up to the original. Many don't, except for Assassins Creed 2, but that's another story. . . . .
@mjfar21, Forgive me if it seems as though I'm trolling this thread, but I have been following this game for some time, and if you have too, you would know that there's actually two different studios making this game. One is focused mainly on single player (these are the people that were left from the original Bioshock, minus a few people) and then there's another half dedicated souly to multiplayer. As you might be right on the aspect of the game "having multiplayer", it is the way of games these days... also the multiplayer fits greatly into the story. It's one year after the start of the civil war and when all hell broke lose (and the way we seen Bioshock 1 and all its mess and glory).
As the game itself doesn't require a multiplayer, I couldn't agree more, but, the way it was introduced really worked. It's going to be a very "nitch" hit or miss type of gameplay. Modern style mixed with plasmids???! It will be interesting nonetheless. Everyone knows they have A LOT riding on the success of Bioshock 2, trust me... I am sure they've thought of a lot of things to do and they are going to do it right. [I pray and hope they get it right.]
*edit* This is the next big thing for me, and I have a lot of hope it will deliever more than what people are expecting. I just hope I'm let down...
@Aspire85 It wasn't just Ken Levine who made the game, that is what people need to understand. It was him plus a group of people who had the same ideas as he did. Most games are pretty simple when there's a story you have to follow. You go from point A to point B. I don't know what you were expecting, but the first Bioshock was a breath of fresh air. Also if you have an XBOX or PS3, you make friends along the way... it sounds to me you have no friends in real life and no friends on-line.
I'm not trying to knock you, but I'm just saying your idea of a "good game" is probably CoD 4.
@ jdhx That comes as a bit of a shock.. I never knew Ken Levine wasn't working on this one. I think I'll probably rent this. So far, it sounds as if single player is going to be dumbed down and simple like the first.. Multiplayer games, to me, are just a waste of time unless you're playing with friends IMO.
@theduke2, I will have to admit with pissant 77, only someone who "thinks" the way you do would see them as "little girls" and not what they actually stood for. Also you obviously have never played the first Bioshock or you would of known it came out [like pissant said], back in 2007! It is now 2010, that's over three years ago. Also I would like to point out the differences between Bioshock and Fallout 3. Bioshock is an art style based on an art movement called 'art deco'. Art Deco was a popular international art design movement from 1925 until the 1940s. As for Fallout 3, it was based in the year 2277 and after a nuclear war. So, as you can obviously see, they aren't even close to being the same... so please, before you speak, get your facts in order.
@kdawg88, I am kind of happy a lot of people want to stay away from this game. I really don't want to see it riddled with Call of Duty/Halo "kiddies" crying that someone shocked them, froze them, or used whatever type of plasmid against them and killed em.
I would really like to see a single player version, but as we all know, too many people have cried MULTIPLAYER and that is what sells these days. (CoD MW2 is a prime example of multiplayer only)
So, all we can do is hope and keep our fingers crossed. They also had two different studios work on each part of the game, so when people think they took something away from single player, they haven't. There was one group working souly on singleplayer and another just on multiplayer. Well, here's to wishful thinking. Nonetheless, I have my copied pre-ordered. See you in the civil war!
@theduke2, Only someone whos mind is wired like that would associate little girls and thoughts of that nature. Maybe some self reflection is in order to discover why you would make that connection. Also, Bioshock was released 24/08/2007, Fallout 3 was released 31/10/2008, over a year later. and it's spelled pAedophiles.
