I bought an Alienware M17x with an Intel Core Extreme 2.53 processor, 8 GB RAM, Dual GTX 280's, 1 TB hard disk space (Raid 0) and a Blu-Ray optical drive and it is absolutely amazing.

I bought an Alienware Area-51 7500 a couple years ago when the Canadian dollar was worth $1.07 american, which made it an awesome deal at the time. System is great, loved the case and I've done a number of my own upgrades. Only complaint is customer service, the system shipped with a couple minor wrong parts (2gigs RAM missing, no acoustic foam) and instead of shipping out the missing parts or offering to refund me, they said if I shipped it back they'd add it, and then ship it again (basically 3-4 weeks extra wait). Screw that.

    @Rohirm 4GB in an i7 rig :\

3GB would have been a better choice (6GB even better), that way you can take advantage of the tri-channel memory controller.

alien ware is good .... but the price is not.

The laptops are a solid deal, when compared to a Mac laptop that you likely won't be playing any games on. Their desktops, however, seem overpriced.

Priced their top of the line rig...$8700 with triple 20" monitors...way overpriced...build it yourself thru NewEgg or Tigerdirect and save $3k...

for 2000 bucks, you can do way better than this, if you know how to build your own custom desktop. the casing isnt even that attractive.

I'm guessing their best rig is gonna run around 5-7k without even going to their website to look...overpriced as usual,,,par for the course with alienware

way overpriced! i personally have a gateway gaming laptop but would prefer asus, sager or MSI over alienware for a gaming laptop. desktop is definitely a no go for alienware. i'd rather build or get sumthin MUCH better of newegg.

Just customized the aurora and mx17 the desktop came to around just over $7000 and the laptop to just over $5000. These are great systems but they are overpriced. Building one yourself is a better way to go if you dont mind having the logo and the really awesome cases with LEDs.

  • xeridae

    Posted Sep 27, 2009 12:00 am GMT

The case for the desktop is nothing but a modified version of the silverstone raven...
They definitely know how to build good systems, over priced but good. I strongly believe that people should learn how to build their own system though because it's really not that hard and once you do you know everything about it. I would definitely buy a laptop from them though.

I have an Alienware computer. And, I have to say that I've been completely satified with its performance. The innovations that they place in their computers is absolutely ground breaking. I haven't had a single problem from it. I'm looking forward to getting my 2nd Alienware computer next year. '

a bag that says alienware... large old-looking headphones... why not have a good prize like winning an actual computer? or at least they could give you something that cost more than $10 on ebay
also, i wish i had enough money to get one of these. then, i wouldn't have to worry about whether my computer can actually PLAY certain games. these laptops rock

  • ElPadilla

    Posted Sep 26, 2009 5:31 pm GMT

Why would you show off the graphical capabilities of your PC's with Bionic Commando? I'm guessing Capcom paid them. Anyways Alienware is over priced and overrated I can build my own pc for less than half of their asking price that's just as powerful.

  • emtapia

    Posted Sep 26, 2009 4:30 pm GMT

Now I feel kinda bad for being poor and not being able to buy anything near this.
*goes to build my own comp*

  • RussianRAGE

I like Alienware for their laptops; not their Desktops. I would ALWAYS build my own instead of purchasing a pre-built system.
    Pre-built systems are for douchebags! >: (

However, since you cannot build your own laptop piece by piece with the same ease as a desktop, i dont really have a choice when i want to buy a custom gaming laptop.

I'm currently saving up for an m17x. That mofo is off the hook.

I know this company is really good at what they do, and I also know they are Falcon North-West piece of competition on everything gaming pcs. So I guess hi123434321 should go on their website and check it for himself. I personally want to get me one of their gaming laptop, the M17x one to my list of equipment.

Every time I try to customize the new Aurora ALX . I would get compatibility problems with the suggest parts from Alienware. I would wait to see if that can be resolved but what Area 51 ALX would be better.
