A very under-rated Saturn Game

User Rating: 8.8 | Shin Shinobi Den SAT
To me, this game represents everything Sega were trying to achieve with the Saturn: 2D Arcade action with gorgeous graphics.
I bought this game last year, and 10 years after its release I was amazed by how good it looked. Digitized sprites with perfect animations and loads of different moves. This is my favourite Shinobi game.
The gameplay is easy to pick up, but difficult to master. You can run and slash, throw Shurikens and even cut your enemies in half. Its really fun.
It may sound fairly simple but the game gets very, very hard towards the end. I've yet to beat it and I've been playing for a year.
The levels are broken up with incredibly cheap, camp and laughable cutscenes of Shinobi fighting Ninja's to get his girl back. They're so bad they're good.
The music is pretty good in places, and average in others. I wouldn't say its on par with the legendary music in Revenge of Shinobi on the Genesis, but it does the job and is done fairly well.
If you want a decent Saturn game, look no further than Shinobi Leigions. It's brilliant digitized side-scrolling cheese.
