Old school? Not quite.

Walked into Gamestop and I was looking for a few new games to pick up. Lo and behold I see the Shining Force title on the shelf and my jaw drops. I grew up with Shining Force on the Sega Genesis system. The first two games in this series I loved more than any other series. Naturally I picked it up and flipped it over and looked and the pictures on the sleeve.

Gone were the familiar small groups of warriors you selected to come into battle with you, my beloved Shining Force had been changed into something else. With a bit of apprehension I decided I would buy it, if anything to pay homage to the first entries into the series.

I played it as much as I could. As much as I willed myself to enjoy this game and to try to love it, I just could not do it. There was nothing enjoyable to me about this game, and for me it felt like the death of a series when I played the latest entry into the family.

The characters I did not care about. The story was painfully boring to me in all aspects. The game itself seems far too childish and cartoony for my tastes. I really wish that Working Designs would have made a push to release the final two discs of Shining Force III rather than this title.

Working Designs dropped the ball on this title and made a lot of fans, including myself, lose faith in this series and this developer. If anyone is listening RELEASE THE LAST 2 PARTS OF SHINING FORCE III DAMN IT!
