User Rating: 8.5 | Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey DS
The Shin Megami Tensei series first appeared on the SNES and was released only in japan, then came "SMT 2" on japan only too. Then Atlus decided to publish "SMT 3 : Nocturne" on North American ground. The result was better than expected, the game received a warm welcome by the US audience! And with "Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey" is no different, with a intriguing story, plot twists, fast-paced battles that requires strategy to win, demon recruiting negotiations,demon-fusions and there's loads of more content to the game!

The story begins with a strange phenomena happening in the South Pole, its a black spot that apeared out of the nowhere and is slowly getting bigger.
You are a american soldier designed with the task of investigating this occurence known as the "Schwarzwelt" along with many other elite soldiers from various nations. Under orders from commander Gore you and all the many soldiers go to investigate the "Schwarzwelt" by going inside it with a Plasma-powered shield vehicle and a special suit known as the "Demonica".

The gameplay is in first person,if you played the SMT series of the SNES or if you played "Devil Survivor" for the DS you will feel right at home with, but even if you played "Nocturne" you will instantly recognise the gameplay too.
For the most of time you will be talking with people to find what's going on,then you be exploring the interiors of the "Schwarzwelt" looking for materials to create new Items or key Items to progress the story, battles are in first-person view too and similar to "Devil Survivor",although the encounters are random based, you can see when a encounter is about to occur because a light in the upper screen changes, and when the color is red a battle will occur. The battle animations are flashy and the music is outstanding!
One look at Strange Journey and you might think it is just a dungeon crawler, but that's certainly not the case, the story has just many plot twists that will keep your eyes glued on the screen, recruiting and fusing demons is highly addictive as it is necessary too.Often times you are given the option to choose an answer to someone's question, your answers will have a major impact later on the game! Apart from the main missions that are given there's also side quests that you can take, this side quests can be taken from a demon when you are wandering around, from another person, etc.
You also receive Items,Macca (game's currency money) and materials to create new Items. This materials are known as "Formas" and can add functions to you Demonica suit such as opening locked doors,a radar to find more rare Formas and so on.
