Yuri Lowell: what the hell can i get you?

User Rating: 4.5 | Persona 3 PS2
first of all this game is not for you if you don't like boring repetitive gameplay.
and i mean super repetitive cuz you have to climb a tower that has over 200 plus floors and fight every stupid monster along the way.

first off the voice acting. besides the main whos wonderful grunting noises are voiced by yuri lowenthal D: the rest of the va's are very talented.

as for the sound track they could of done a much better job. theres 18 pieces for the game and most are only a minute or 2 long. which isn't nearly enough for an rpg like this where you'll be spending most of your time in tarturus school, the dorms, the velvet room and the battle field. 4 of the tracks you wont hear that often are the op, ed, remix op for the final boss, and credits music. the longest track given to an area was the aria of the soul for the velvet room which is 5min 41 long. which out of all the areas i mentioned is the shortest amount of time spent there so you'll never notice the track replaying. the rest of the areas in the game only have 2 min long tracks for them besides the second battle theme which will drive you crazy hearing them so much. i ended up muting the game just because of this.

leveling and stat increases/equipment were made easy for this game. leveling wise your only choice is to climb the dungeon from hell tarturus. its 200+ floors must be climbed by the end of the game. you are foced to do this to get to the final boss DX. whats worse is they limit how many floors you can go each chapter so even if you wanted to finish the tower at the start of the game it wont let you DX. the same goes for equipment as well. your only allowed to buy new equipment after defeating the boss at the end of a chapter. but everytime you equip new stuff they give you a major stat boost. though it doesn't really matter since most bosses can be defeated within a couple turns. lucky for us once you reach an elevator you can go back to the bottom floor or return to any floor with an activated elevator making climbing back up to start on the next floor after a new chapter easy as pie. but beware each elevator is guarded by a mini boss. the worst features they added for the tower is that your party gets tired after so many battles and you have to leave. or the grim reaper shows up and 1hitko's you. he's only possible to beat when your at least level 65 as part of a mission elizabeth gives you. so until then everytime you hear chains rattling that means he's approaching and your only choice is either to leave the tower or get to a staircase.

orpheous i choose (screw that go king frost) you. the most notably biggest weakness of this game are it battle mechanics. I like that its turn based but when you enter a battle you are only able to control the main character which makes the battle 10x harder and agonizingly slow. this is a fatal flaw for the game since you can't control what the party ai do in battle. this game is plagued by the worst ai. the battle system has nine elements to exploit ice wind lightning fire are the basic 4 elements then theres light and dark which are much rarer. then theres physical attack elements slash for sword knives hammers ect piercing for bullets and arrows and strike for punches. each enemy on each floor will always possess a single weakness which can be a blessing or a curse depending on whether you have a persona that has that move. sometimes you'll only be helping the enemy though like for example mitsuru always ALWAYS uses ice moves to attack with unless you set the team to bum rush the enemy. even if they heal the enemy she always uses that type of move to attack. the ai in this gmae can kill your chance at victory. your party members are complete and total idiots 70% of the time in battle and rarely feel like healing you or other party members. lucky for us the game devs give you plume of dusk which you can choose to use to revive your character otherwise if you character is ko'd during battle its game over baby and have to start where you last saved

now onto training your poke...er persona :P
persona are monsters you obtain after battle with random shadows. depending on which ones you put in your party is crucial for boss battles. your first persona has fire attacks which can help you against certain shadows and is one of the few persona who learns elemental attack agi at the beginning of the game. the other persona you aquire are mostly useless battle wise. their actual purpose is for synthesis of other persona. though what persona you can summon and how strong it is is limited by your level which kills your hopes of getting good persona at the start of the game. persona don't learn moves easily either so your prettymuch stuck with what they have. and when they do learn new moves they don't tell you what it is their learning or what move their getting rid of so its safe to just not learn it at all. luckily every time you get a persona you can register them with elizabeth (she's such a god send) and can re synthesize it the way it was when you registerd it last.
they really suck at explaining Useful info about them ingame and your prettymuch forced to go to a guide.

all in all its a okay game story is 6/10 battle system 3/10 graphics 8/10 va's 9.5/10 bgm is nice to listen to every once in a while but not repeatedly 4.10
