Persona 3 FES is a great sequel of a great game.
In Persona 3 FES, you become a high school student, you'll face monsters called shadows, they only appear in the "dark hour" - an hour that only people with the ability to use Personas knows, normal people will turn into coffins during the dark hour. Your mission is to eliminate the dark hour and Tartarus - the "nest" of shadows.
[9/10] Gameplay: It's a turn-based dungeon crawling with a mix of sim dating. You're given one year to finish the game. At midnight, you could choose to go to dungeon if you want. The dungeons are random, they change everyday, and it's filled with monsters that you must use your Persona to eliminate. Combat is easy to understand, monsters' AI is quite good. There are more than 70 persona to use, each with difference in skills and stats. Your allies also have a unique persona that have unique strength. Allies couldn't be controlled, and since they have a lower-than-average AI, it sometimes is irritating when your allies do the wrong stuff. The bosses are challenging, and sometimes frustrating since you've got to grind.
In order to "relieve some stress", there are daytime activities like going to different places, doing stuff to increase your skill, make friends. The social link system, which could be established through making friends, is an essential way of increasing your personas' power. Therefore, the daytime activites is not useless, it's an important and fun part of the game. Without this, the game will just be a repetitive dungeon crawling game.
Talking about repetitive dungeon crawling game, the new chapter is quite a disappointment, it lacks many feature in the main story, most noticeably is the daytime activity. Because of that, the new chapter is a really repetitive grinding festival. But it doesn't really affect the main part of the story.
[9/10] Graphics: The graphic is good. Dungeons are nice, the school, streets, city look real, characters have an anime looking which is cute. The cutscenes are like an anime.
[10/10] Story: Intense story, with surprising plot twist that keeps you playing until you're done with the game. The new chapter, even though with a not really good gameplay, it could still be addictive because of the great ending which is rewarding if you finish it.
[9/10] Sound: Great music with J-Pop songs and many great soundtrack. The voice acting is fine but it could be better.
[9/10] Value: Even though their are no unlockables, you will still play through the game many times cause their are many thing to complete such as Persona Copendium (like a Pokedex, if you played Pokemon then you'll know what I said), sub-mission, optional boss, ultimate weapon, rare skills, and many other things.
