combat:
this game uses a very fast and strategic turn based system called the press turn system this is how it works if you exploit an enemy weakness or deal a critical hit it gives you an extra turn however if you miss or the enemy voids the attack you lose an additional turn
:customizing your character
you use magatama which are insects that give your character power similar to the job system in final fantasy 5 except each one gives your character a weakness stat bonuses resistances and abillitys needless to say you can only have one equipped at a time so if you want a resistance to fire and more magic equip the right one and bingo or say you want resistance to ice equip another one however you will be weak to another element the game requires you to manage your items money and plan ahead a lot this is the best aspect of the game
recruiting demons:
to survive you need to ally yourself with demon regularly to do this you have to negotiate with them sometimes they just want 400 macca (money in smt) to join your team other times they will want 1000 + a potion giving them what they want is a great idea because the demons you recruit are gonna be your only allies through out the game you can have up to 3 demons in your active party there are more than a 100 demons to recruit in this game you can also fuse 2 demons together to create a even more demons
some can only be recruited this way others can only be recruited through negotiation it is a fabulous system
btw there are 25 different magatama in this game get them all for a magnificent reward
story: score 10
the game has a very odd but fabulous story i am not going to spoil it for you just give you a quick view of it awsomeness it involves the world being destroyed (in the first 15 minutes or so by the way)
by an event called the conception only you and 5 other humans survive and or taken to a temporary world called a vortex world which is inhabited by demons who are very likeable for the most part btw and you in the other humans must compete to create your ideal world there are 6 different endings
music:score 8 ( only because there is quite a bit of heavy metal and i hate it )
the music is the weakest aspect of this game there is some really good music like lord of the netherworld and the reason boss battle music and quite a few others but the heavy metal irritates me
graphics: score 10
the art style is my second favorite aspect of this game it is like if silent hill infused with the cell shaded graphics of wind waker it is not childish looking don't you worry it is creepy atmospheric and beautiful all at the same time
