One of the best dark based rpg game of all time

User Rating: 8.4 | Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne PS2
Shin Megami Tensai series are known for its dark base rpg games. Although most people would like this kind of theme, people who are religous may find this game hard to play. It is because of its strong demonic element, which is the theme of the whole game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (SMT) begins in a perfectly normal world. However, shortly into the game, the main character meets somebody who tells him that the place he is heading to is tied to the occult. After exploring the place, an apocalypse occurs in which the world is completely destroyed and recreated. The main character is one of the only human survivors in a world which is now controlled by evil demons. Before getting a chance to explore the new world, the main character encounters some strange people who connects him with something which turns him into a demon.

The battle system is kinda disappointing. The player enters an attack command, there will be short, 1-second long clip of the demon using an attack on the enemy, and you’re back to the menu to issue a new command. The big thing is the sound effect and the music in the game, it makes it a real rpg to play. The menu system is also easy to learn and understand.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is not a great game to begin with and it contains aspects of a very non-Christian worldview. I would not recommend this game for everyone. This game is especially inappropriate for a Christian audience as this game is highly demonic in nature. Nevertheless as for hardcore RPG players this game is worth playing over and over again.
