It seems that the Law and Chaos paths in most SMT games usually lead to rather unpleasant endings. The only time I can justify choosing anything but Neutral is the Chaos path in Shin Megami Tensei II. I suppose a case can be made for the Devil Survivor games as well, but I've only played the first one, and I can't remember the choices. However, I recall that Law was actually somewhat okay in that game. And I don't know much about the Raidou games.
In most cases, Neutral seems to be the ideal path. Do you agree or disagree? If you disagree, can you explain why?

Neutral is the ideal path for me.
In DeSu 1, the law and chaos paths, as well as the neutral-law and neutral-chaos paths weren't completely evil, but they weren't really the best actions imo. Especially the chaos route, as that was pretty much

Neutral is too boring for me.
I don't feel right because it feels like that's what I'm "supposed" to do. I want to make a different choice.

I usually stick to Neutral because that's how I stand in most arguments between people. Until Yamato in DS that is >_>, but otherwise it's my preferred path unless I feel either Law or Chaos would fit my choice better.

For the experience, yeah. On an ideological level, too much of my faith in humanity is invested in technology and the future for me to actually want to hand it to God or Lucifer.

IRL I may be considered neutral. Thou in this series I typically prefer the law paths and do them on 1st playthroughs. All the paths have some bad aspects, but out of all of them law is the most ideal. And with neutral it is pretty difficult believing in humanity. (Especially because of the events of SJ)

I'm a chaos kind of guy. when playing a Shin Megami or any of its spin offs that offers the Law, Chaos, neutral paths I also go chaos just because no matter what path you choose it seems like your being controlled by some other power.
If I'm gonna allow someone to control me in them games I want to have an insane amount of power incase they feel I out lived my usefulness. When playing Desu or any shin megami game I have the mind set that my character believes that "the only power he believes in is his own."
For the life of me I can't remember any of the neutral endings but I remember it always felt like it was over but not really over so I always hated neutral routes.

I always go Neutral, but I can see why people choose Chaos or Law.
Law and Chaos are extreme, but put a definitive closure to the conflict.
The Neutral path is balanced, but just put a closure to the conflict for a few decades, before all starts over.
If Neutral was freaking perfect in every aspect there would be no reason to choose Law or Chaos.

I like to take neutral first because I'm a sucker for the "F*** everyone, I'll do this my way!" paths. But I can see the appeal in chaos and to a lesser extent law.
Overclocked had amazing 8th days in both law and chaos, imo.

Meh, I always pick Neutral. Law and Chaos are too extreme IMO('cept in DeSu 1, I pick Law cuz it's one of the most plausible Law ending IMO).
I always hated Chaos for reasons, and I hate it when Law was depicted as too extreme.

They're both suppose to be extreme.
Even then I tend to dislike Law solely due to how arrogant it seems.

It is easier to accept law or chaos when humanity has had darkness in their hearts and would go to any extreme to rise out of it. Humans have a history of masochism and self torture, both mentally and physically. Often times, it stems from either the belief that are laws are not the answer or the people who simply cannot live without a guiding force. Either way, law and chaos are easy alternatives. When considering the ability to choose, it is not the choice that scares most people, but the unknown to be considered. In that regard, something like law or chaos can sound great since they understand the future. For neutrality, your fate is ultimately up to you. Quite frankly, who but the idealistic can make that choice? After all, to chase the dream of the best future, you need to believe in it. And it is impossible to see a better future if you are so caught up in humanity's failures.

I'm a neutral person IRL. I don't support being a mindless slave in the Law path. I also don't support the weak being food for the strong. Pretty much humans are screwed in the chaos path. Neutral is a good middle ground without the extremes. I like there being some form of order and freedom even if it just an illusion.

I have 0 faith in humanity. IRL I would choose Law but in game Chaos all the way. Leave the world up to humans? Been there, done that. It sucks.

Neutral is boring. I also like the way Nocturne handled alignments, where neutral isn't so great after all.
