I really wanted to like this game. Ive gotten fusterated so many times, quit, and then came back and played some more only for it to happen again.
The game has three difficulties, Easy, Medium and Hard. First thing that was instantly noticable was the extreme level of difficulty, even while playing on Easy. (this is coming from someone with almost 150hrs of gameplay on Forza3- no assists, manual) One mistake and the race is over. Car on car contact almost always results in a spin-out regardless of the severity, and all AI's are brutally aggressive - this I can understand on a higher level of difficulty, but not on Easy.
As far as gameplay/career goes, I really liked the idea that was used widely in the original Shift that would make the driver "feel" as if they were going faster than they were, ie blurry screens and the bone chilling feeling you would get from watching the screen after wrecking - all this I felt was lacking in Shift 2. Another downside for me was the lack of mativation to continue on with your career. At the very least, the original Shift would take your lap times during the career and compare them on the online leaderboards, giving you something to work torwards to better yourself. In Shift 2 your playing against the computer and can compare times with any Xbox Live friends that might also be playing the game, but if your friends dont have the game, then your splits really dont matter and your stuck battling it out with the AI.
On a brighter note for the game, the music is really good, graphics are ok,
and considering the difficulty the career should be relatively lenthy ( I did not finish the game, lvl 17, GT3 class)
