I already had a copy of the original Shift. Wasnt too impressed with it, was trying to be too flashy and not much substance so didnt play more than a couple of hours. Picked up Shift 2 soon after it came out due to the usually hype with EA games. First impressions were strange steering which has lagged feedback, whatever I did the steering did teh same albeit 1-2 seconds later.. ridiculous and frustrating at times, but I have gotten used to it now (after 15 hours of gameplay maybe). Graphics are awesome, car engine/sound is equally brilliant, impressive lighting and modelling however its not very well gelled together. For example replays are jerky and seem to be playing in slow motion at times. And when you bump another car, well thats a spectacle to behold because the cars seem to stick to each other at the point of impact like glue and move/slide around in synchronicity (much like synchronized swimming) ... hahaha.. 3ITCH! Yeah, thats the reaction coz its so ridiculously unreal.. Equally frustrating and dumb is when you hit a well at an angle, and the car just turns around in the opposite direction.. one wonders what were they thinking when they were programming that in?! I think those guys at EA/Slightly Studios didnt do much testing or released this in a rush, or probably handed the testing bit to a ... well maybe a swimmer? Since I'm such a racing sim freak, I have stuck to playing this even now, due to the otherwise good simulation experience and graphics/sound. Anything slightly less and this would have seen the bin. Damn good thing I didnt have to pay for it either, maybe thats another reason why I'm still not so disgusted. :)
Let me first say that the reason I am so harsh on this game is because of the way it was marketed. When a company releases footage and makes a trailer that, in the TITLE, nonetheless, states that the game is packed with ... Read Full Review
