I had never played the original but now I really want to after just completing this unexpectedly completely awesome game. I really didn't know what to go in expecting with this even though I saw some of the video reviews. The game is gorgeously designed and incredibley challenging fun and addictive at the same time. After some of the bosses I was a quivering mess because of how intense some of the fights were. I am so glad I played this and at some points I was gonna throw in the towel because it got a lil bit too much at some points but really glad I made it through my first playthrough. Some who are used to the side scrolling beatemups won't be as disuaded as I was at some points but damn this game was challenging. The graphics are absolutely beautiful cartoonish over the top violent and at some points thought it went a lil bit too dark but it was just enough. The sound effects and music are excellent as well. The story is a lil bit hard to understand until the very end but the cutscenes are very enjoyable to behold. Throughout your journey you can collect unlockables, rescue hostages, collect more powerful weapons ect. The game is a ton of fun once you get into it and I found it highly enjoyable and the playtime was just right for the games intensity and difficulty. I don't think could go through a few more missions after nearing the end. Overall great arcade game.
