I found myself as a wrestling fan in the past year, while watching the WWE frequently. Soon, i wanted a new game for the Ps2, and that game would be a Wrestling one...With Here Comes The Pain in the platinium series for "only" 29.99€ (altough Smackdown vs. Raw was already on sale), i decided to buy this one. And it was one of the best choices i have ever done for my ps2... WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain is just pure fun. Is recriates in all the ways how fun (and fake) can WWE wrestling be... Graphics - 9 The whole graphic system in HCTP is great. All the character models, the animations used on the tricks, and even the most dynamic crowd i've ever seen in gaming are brilliant and very well made. When the superstar execute their special tricks, you can see how much work was made in order to recriate those moments just like they are - like Rey Mysterio's 619 or RVD's 5* Frogsplash. The entrances are also great, and during some you can easily remember how they are in reality - take Triple H's entrance for an example. Gameplay - 10 This is where HCTP really makes the difference. You just enjoy playing HCTP like you don't in many other games. It gives you a feeling of pleasure while fighting that you don't get in many other titles. The season mode is pretty good also, recreating some of the most remarkable moments in the WWE. However, here would be nice to have some different moments, as if you start a second year, it just happens the same one at Season 1. The different type of matches are awesome as well, and give the player more diversity in the game. One more word for the possibly most completed Create-a-Character in any Ps2 Game, as well as for the tricks and animations editor. Sound - 7 If there's a point where HCTP is just mediocre, is at the sound. In fact, there are absolutely no voices in the whole game, and specially in season mode it would be nice to hear something different than the RAW, Smackdown, and in-game themes. Commentaries would be also appreciated. This section doesn't have lower classification, because of the entrance music of the wrestlers, all present in the game. Replay Value - 9 As i've said before, this game is all about pure fun in beating the hell out of the other(s) superstars. You'll spend a lot of time with it, not only on season mode (trying to be the champ, or unlocking the secrets), but also on the different matches, solo or multiplayer. Royal Rumble, Cage, Hell in a cell, last man standing, etc etc...you will fight for hours. Final appreciation If youre a WWE fan and/or are looking forward for a nice beat 'em up, don't think twice and just get it. You'll have certainly fun and enjoyment for a platinium-prized game.
