Dark fun that's brought down by some problems.

User Rating: 7.3 | Shadow the Hedgehog PS2
Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic's rival, is quite popular and that popularity has made get his own game called...Shadow the Hedgehog. The gameplay is a somewhat unhealthy combination of classic 3D Sonic and gunplay...yes you heard me, guns. The problem with the guns is that there is a lack of any lock-on or anything like that. There are three (or sometimes two) objectives that you can accomplish in each of the 20+ levels, Hero, Normal and Dark. Each mission you complete chooses your next path, so there's some good replay value to be found here. The camera yet again isn't real good and the controls are sort of hard to control (no pun intended..again), but in some case it controls better than the Xbox version.

Graphically, this is a good game, but suffers the same technical problems the PS2 version of Sonic Heroes had. It has some choppy visuals and a sporadic framerate. But this is an improvement of over that game. The sound is even worse than the graphical problems. Almost all of the voice actors from previous games have been starkly replaced by new voice actors and while some of it is good, for the most part it's awful. The rest of the sound sounds (no pun intended yet again) kind of tinny in this version.

While it isn't the best, this is still a good Sonic worth checking out. The good: Not as choppy as Sonic Heroes on the PS2, over 20 levels, multiple paths and endings, unique meter system

The bad: Still pretty choppy, guns are badly used, bad camera, sometimes hard to control, new voicework is laughably bad
