This game is huge! Literally

User Rating: 10 | Shadow of the Colossus PS2
This game is top banana easily. Okay lets dive straight into the game. For plotline, its pretty good. You play as warrior named Yorda who is seeking to revive his dead love interest. To do this he must defeat 16 giant monsters known as the colossus. This is where the title comes in. As for gameplay, it sounds simple, but is pretty challenging. Each colossus must be killed using completely different methods. Mostly, you will be using scenery, climbing hair, platforming on cliffs and riding around on your horse. The horse, Agro, has some of the best horse mapping used as well as great hair and tail movement, making it the most realistic looking horse in gaming. With the hugeness of the landscape, there is a big free roaming aspect, although the main goal of killing these beasts is always the same. Graphically, this game is absolutely BEA-utiful. From the horse and character detail to the giant creatures themselves. The landscape is both lush and beautiful, although most is very sparse. The music though, is the key point that makes this game amazing. The orchestral score used makes the sounds of the enivroment, rustling of trees and splashing of water sound wonderful. As well as creating action music for the moments of triumph and the music of sadness when a beast killed, so much so, that you actually shed a tear when you slay them. All of these factors combine together to create the most wonderful action/platformer on the PS2 and with an ending, of which I won't spoil, as emotional as this one, it is a must have.
