Current day (mostly) Super Metroid
Story is... meh, but its a usual save the world kinda thing all the time anyway isn't it?
Graphics are nothing to write home about but i have never been a graphics whore.
Controls work they way they are supposed to work which is all you should be asking of them. I was never tripping over them to get what i needed to get accomplished (minus the whole the jump button until you are on the other wall to stay running on the other wall while in hypermode).
The "proving grounds" were a nice distraction after i beat the game on the hardest difficulty. I kept me playing just a little bit longer (and made me want to throw the controller more then once).
Overall, i felt that i got the game that i paid for. It is an arcade game, not a $60 game. I definitely got my money's worth (which is more then i can say about other under 10hrs game for $60)
