Based on the highly adored anime series, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes takes players through the world of Feudal Japan

User Rating: 8 | Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes PS3
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is based on the events are the second game which had our cast of bright and unique characters all based on real life people but given a much more appealing appearance to them. You have a choice of a Variety of characters which all vary in skill, ability and story. From using 6 swords with The "One Eyed Dragon" Date Masamune to Spears, Hula Hoops, Guns and much more. There are a total of 15 playable character with many you have to unlock by playing through different stories.
The gameplay can easily be described and related to Samurai Warriors/Dynasty Warriors as you play as a main character running and killing many soldiers across multiple unique and vibrant locations all varying to the character you must face at the end. There isn't really any need to worry about controls since they are simple to use and work effectively unless you're play the Wii version which you will need to read the instructions to know what to do effectively. The game can be very long winded especially if you plan on collecting the achievements on the PS3 version and gameplay can get repetitive as well after playing the same stage over and over again. The majority of the music flows well with some of the stages and characters whilst some tracks do take away from the feel of the game and can be quite annoying, however with that in mind the player is capable to alter the BGM and SE on and off or louder and quieter to get the right feel for all scenarios. The cost of this game currently is very fair, retailing around £15-£20 for both the Wii and PS3 depending on where you go to buy it. Sadly the lack of an option to choose which language the characters communicate is a bit of a let down especially if you prefer the original Japanese voices over the current English dub.
Overall Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is a good game which will pass the time, has easy controls and good value for money, however it becomes like all the other games of the same kind of genre which takes away from the feel of the game. Ideally if you are a fan of the anime series or a fan of Dynasty Warrior/ Samurai Warriors games this is the game for you.
