Ah, nostalgia.....

Purchasing this collection of old Sega Genesis titles really took me back a few years, considering I got a Sega Genesis when it came out.....But anyway, this collection of games from the glory days of Sega doesn't disappoint in the fun factor, with some titles. Others in this collection can be safely ignored.

There are a total of 28 classic Sega titles in this tiny little UMD disk that can bring you much joy along with thinking, "They actually made a game about this?" The obvious front runner in this collection is the original Sonice the Hedgehog, going back to what made Sonic a franchise character for Sega and a legend in video games. It also includes the sequel to the original with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which you can play with another person via Wi-Fi with one person as Sonic and another as Tails. Other great classics in this collection include the 3 Golden Axe games, Vectorman 1/2, Shinobi, Phantasy Stars 1-4, and Virtua FIgher 2. These games remind us why Sega gave Nintendo a run for its money back in the early to mid '90s, quality titles that were fun to play. But there are some real terrible titles in this collection as well, like Eco the Dolphin 1 and 2? Why they made these games I really don't know, they just seem to be thrown in there to increase the number of titles in the collection. And if you don't like platformers, stay far away because a lot of the games in this collection are platformers and they can get kind of repetitive after playing them for a while. Like Golden Axe, run chop, run chip, run chop, after about 10 minutes of that I felt like chopping up the game disk into oblivion. Obviously the graphics aren't going to woo you off your seat, hey remember these games were made back in the early to mid '90s that was high tec back then man!! And the sound design isn't going to blow your ear drums out with gorgeously orchestrated pieces of Beethovian glory. All in all, this is still a solid collection of nostalgic games that make us remember back to when Sega came out with good games. They are also a good way to pass the time in the car or waiting at the dentists office, which is what handheld games were made for!!
