the genesis of all action RPG's, this game is my favorite of all RPG's and forever will be the greatest.
Developed by "Squaresoft" now known as "Square Enix", Secret of mana is the genesis of all action RPG's. Released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo, Secret of mana was ahead of it's time. This game is the foundation, the base of what a action RPG's should have With it's epic story, to it's rich gameplay. Secret of Mana is a legend the great grandfather of RPG's. This is THE BEST "Mana" game to come out and still is out of all the "Mana" games that have been made since 1995-2008 Sadly their will be no other game like this ever again. I wanted to show my love and respect towards this game, it's is a game that I played as a child and enjoyed my entire life. And i do hope that Square Enix does bring this game to new systems, or remake it.
-GAMEPLAY
Great, starting off with the main character and a sword you gain EXP by killing monsters to level up to increase you stats. Along the way you fight bosses after defeating these bosses you obtain orbs to upgrade certain weapons. Their are a total of 8 weapons in the game, each as your skill with that weapon inceases, you can do a charge attack to do combos and extra damage to your enemies. Along the way you meet a girl, and a young spite (you choose their names) that will help you along the way. As you you progress in the story you will gain the ability to use elements. The girl use's support elements for buffs and debuffs the young spite use's attack elements like fireball. Bosses are a challenge as well as fun, and will keep you intrested in playing.
-STORY
Great, the main character pulls out the sword of mana from a rock and disturbs the balance of mana in the world. To bring balance back he needs to power up the sword of mana by going to the 8 element temples. Along the way their are many twistsand turns adding more conflicts to the story. And you must stop the evil villian Thanatos from bringing back the acient weapon that floats in the skys and awakeing the "mana beast". Along the way you will team up with characters that will aid you on your quest to save the world.
-SOUND
Great, don't expect too much from a super nintendo game, but the music will stick with you til you reach 50.
-PERSONAL OPINION
"Secret of Mana" is my #1 game of all time, yes it's old, yes the graphics suck, and yes you might have never heard of this game. But if this game was never made alot of the games we have today wouldn't be as great. I enjoy playing alot of the old school games, you really get to see how gaming all started. But it's not just that because of how old this game really is, it is still a great game and is alot better then the games that are coming out to date. And I am happy that i got to play this game, from beginning to end.
