This game has something few games succeed to give: An actual personality.
Secret of Mana is a wonderful, delightful game that is easy and fun to play.
The plot follows the ongoing legend of the Mana Tree and the Sword of Mana. It is a wonderful plot and it gives you a nice fuzzy feeling. :D
Not having played all the Mana games all the way through, I can't tell you a detailed story, sorry. Plot is great.
The controls are simple as hell-simpler than hell, in fact. Though the somewhat overly complicated menus take some getting used to, they're a small, small blemish on the face of the game.
At first, the graphics seem bad for a SNES game-soon, though, you realize that this is intentional. It only enhances the casual atmosphere of the game. Also, it's very interesting how detailed some of the bosses are.
The music is great. The sound effects rock. Yea.
Charm is a game's addictiveness, its psyche, and its quality. Secret of Mana has such a vast amount of charm that, as said, it seems to have a personality. It's addicting, silly, and overall fun.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Awesome game- 9.8 rounded up to 10.
