One of a kind, never to be reapeated again, RPG. Absolute classic.
Gameplay 10/10
From the get go you know this is a one of a kind for its time, the battle system is solid as with the magic system add the fact it is totally upgradable its not hard to see why it was a hit for its time. Still keeping with that we have not one suit of amour/ weapons and such but many, feast for any RPG gamers life really.
Realtime combat system means that the battles do get hectic but nothing that careful planning and watching of levels can't fix add to that a very easy to use menu system, you'll never be out of combat for that long.
Solid storyline that compels the player further with each battle and each person the player meets to the point that they feel they must know all there is to each and every part of the background story. One thing I cannot fault this game on personally is the fact that not all of the story is jus thrown in the pot at one time, no way, it unfolds in just the right order and at the right times, masterful really I must say.
Can you say "multiplayer"? Yes, awesome, because this game had it and still holds true to it too this very day, one of the best multiplayer console games in my opinion I must say, many a night was spent with munchies beers and mates on this lil bad boy oh yeah.
Graphics 10/10
For it's time this was for me the "Van Gogh" of rpg's, eye candy from start to finish. With the fact it is now available on the wii as an emu based game it's just all give me please sir. Having played it on a friends Wii (might I add shocking my good friend with tears) yes I actually shed a couple of tears, only because this was for a long time all I knew an rpg to be and growing with the characters for so long and jus seeing the gorgeous colours and backgrounds and sprites again it was just, WOW. Rabites are still too cute for words lol.
Sound 10/10
This one soundtrack I spent many many years hunting down (of which I am proud to admit I now have), just beautiful, from the opening menu with the whale sounds (I think) over the orchestra to the battle music everything is just so classic Square. So much these days if you listen carefully will you find tracks from games in other games, but with this lil bad boy no such luck here just 100% original score. Gorgeous from start to finish, many a night have I spent listening to just the full menu piece while falling asleep. Perfect.
Replayability 10/10
There are reasons to return for this lil bad boy, first is to make sure you have maxed out all skills and magic. BTW did I mention that when the player maxes out a magick spell that for every few casts you will get a surprise, no?? well now you know. The story is yet another reason so much to see do/learn, that and just the fact it is an overall solid gaming experience that any player who gives it a fair go will fall in love with I am sure.

This is just solid from opening credits till the close of shop, so much to see and do and find from skills to weapons to magick, beautiful music, gorgeous art and lovable characters to the fact that some of the bosses will leave the player saying WTF was that!!!! A definite must have for any old school gamers to those of the "new school" variety looking for something new and challenging.
Get this game however you can beg steal borrow but make sure that before you breathe your last breath on this great earth of ours that you are one of us who can openly and honestly say "I have played one of the best and most original RPG's in history". No words left for me to describe except a "Beautiful masterpiece".
