Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game is an awesome blast from the past with a soundtrack that any 16-bit fan will enjoy. The leveling system in the game that gives you a new move to add to your repertoire every level makes it worth the sometimes grind feel with the mass amounts of bad guys. But it's the little things though that could send you into a fit. Im not sure if it's just me but the game seems to lag a bit when the song is restarting.. and once it even froze on me completely.. for me those things didn't matter because it's the little hints of retro that made me love the feel of the game. Some examples are the mapping system that is similar to Super Mario 3 for the NES, Hidden passages with Mario-like blocks that give you coins (Canadian currency of course) also backgrounds that look glitched but you can tell it's just a part of the retro design, and even a big feel of the old TMNT arcade games in some of the boss battles. A lot of people are confused with why there isn't an on-line feature, and I too agree that it could have sent the game over the top, but you can tell the game seems rushed as the professional reviews suggest, and with the game lagging from the music I'd be afraid to see how bad that would have been. With a little more work this game could have been a perfect score, but for 800 points it's a steal to be able to button mash and beat up a whole bunch of Canadian hoodlums with some of your friends.
