Epic music, lot of fighting, throwback graphics, Scott Pilgrim is a fun, but a chaotic game to enjoy.

User Rating: 8 | Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game PS3
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is an awesome game whether alone or with multiplayer (better in the latter though). What grabbed me was the fact it threw in some throwbacks to the glorious days of beat 'em ups, 8-bits' and arcade games. The graphics definitely are nice and sure to bring a lot of nostalgic moments. Also, the fact that it's mainly a Beat 'Em Up game bring back memories of playing TMNT, Streets of Rage, and X-Men with friends during the 90's. Third, the music will rock in your head as cool techno, rock, and 8-bit sounds makes the game itself feel alive.

As for the gameplay, the controls are simple and fun to use as you mainly just beat up bad guys and bosses. However, an XP system makes it's more unique as new moves, specials and abililties will be unlocked via leveling up to make interesting and crazy combos and tactics. The regular enemies in the game are challenging despite the number of players. The boss battles are the same as well, but more fun and required some tactics and teamwork. In multiplayer however, the game can be too chaotic as the friendly fire is on and too many enemies can appear in the same screen, causing a bunch of racket and rage not only in the game, but also between you and your friends. Some other cons are not much unlockables like characters and modes. Also, the lack of drop-in/out co-op mode.

Overall, with awesome throwbacks, great music, challenging, but fun and unique gameplay, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a great game for old-schoolers and modern ones to enjoy.
