A solid and enjoyable racing game for the N64. Great addition to any collection.

User Rating: 8 | San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing N64
This is a very enjoyable game and one of the better racing games for the N64. While it's not very realistic in the sense that you could drop 1000 feet in your car of a cliff and have no damage if you land perfectly, it's way more fun because of that. The gameplay is great. The races are pretty challenging because the other car's computers aren't dumb and there are plenty of different ways to go and sites to see. Each track has a wide array of secret shortcuts and backroads that lead to all sorts of interesting places. Once you can master them all you can just have fun flying through the air and crashing on a skyscraper or just use them to your advantage to win a bunch of races. One of the other objectives of the game is to collect all of the hidden keys on each track, which are generally off on one of the backroads I was previously speaking of. There is also 2-player mode (unfortunately, no four player mode) which can do versus or have both participate in a circuit. I guarantee you'll have twice as much fun with multiplayer. The music is very different and doesn't get too tiring. The game has a soundtrack so you can just run through them with each track or pick your own song on the list to listen to. If you decide you don't like the music for some reason (its not bad but all of the songs are somewhat similar), then by all means, listen to your own. That's what a CD player's for. While the graphics aren't great, they are good enough for the game's needs and don't ever get in the way of anything you're trying to do. Buildings structures are kind of blocky and polygonal but only after playing PS2 racing games for too long would you care. The replay is great. This is one of the games I still enjoy playing for the N64. The challenge never goes away and neither does the fun. San Francisco Rush would be a nice addition to any gamer's collection.
