Another LucasGem

User Rating: 9 | Sam & Max Hit the Road PC
Sam & Max has been in my hands in both floppy disk and CD form. It's been one of my favorite childhood games for a while, since my family really liked playing point and click adventures together. I've been playing this game almost annually since the early 90's, and this new millennium didn't change a thing.

The game features Max, a rabbit with a horrific attitude (yet so cute), and Sam, a K-9 with a suit. Both of these animals are Freelance Police. They live and work out of a run down office building, along with murders and rats. The story goes as a big foot has been kidnapped from the freak show in America's circus. Together, the two must find clues to solve the crime of the missing big foot and bring the freaks joy again.

This is your classic point-n-click adventure. Unlike the King's Quest or Legend of Kyrandia games, you're not going to kill over dead if you screw up. That's just not how LucasArts does it's adventures. Instead, you'll have to solve crimes by using your sense of humor, and possibly your head. The graphics are simple, cartoon drawings, but they're really smooth with the animations, and lots of cartoony backgrounds to check out just add to that. The voice acting is awesome, especially for a game over 10 years old.

Overall, if you like point and clicks, this is the game for you. It puts the fun in funny. Definitely a worthwhile classic.

Verdict: Buy and use DOSBox
