PRESENTATION

Based on Volition's crazy Saints Row: The Third world, Gangstas in Space puts players in the role of their created character amidst filming a motion picture of the same name. Assisted by an alien princess named Kwilanna, Gangstas in Space is a well-written and relatively detailed add-on for the main story. Andy Zhen, the director of the movie, is ecstatic to get the leader of the Saints on board for shooting, yet has constant issues with Kwilanna, believing her actions are bogging down the presentation and image of the Saints leader. Its cool to see cameramen, extras and green-screen environments, and the add-on is worth playing for the extra unlocks at the end. It is a little disappointing, however, that you don't get the weapons or outfits from the DLC, but the vehicles are appreciated.

GAMEPLAY

It plays exactly like the main game, which is a good thing, and access is given to three space weapons to fight against Space Amazons, which are blue and purple neon aliens who make up the story's enemies. The level design involves improv scripting and objectives that, though fitting within the add-on's "b-movie" style, are dull to complete. This level design isn't memorable and completing it is more of a chore than it should be. A fight against a space brute is over in seconds thanks to solid space weapons, but the Aegean scenes are better. This involves fighting against spacecraft and performing vehicle stunts around certain parts of the city.

REPLAYABILITY

Gangstas in Space will last around 1-2 hours, and you will receive a couple of unlockables at the end. Not obtaining the space weapons is a little bit of a letdown, but the vehicles are cool. It's something I wouldn't play again, and the trophies incentivize a first playthrough.
