1 Like Not that this game wont be fun or that i wont play it, but is anyone else a little disappointed that they took this series in a "super hero" direction? I liked the gang vs. gang aspect of the other games. Taking over territory and what not. When i read the article in Game Informer that this is going to be a super hero's vs. aliens i thought wtf is going on.... this might as well be a completely different game.

Plus Saint Rows was made to be a goofy game from the jump lol.. But yeah they really turned it around, I am curious to play it though..
I personally think this game will be alright.. yeah they strayed away from the gangsta perspective but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad game. Everyone seems like they are just trying to keep it gangsta and have that theme the whole time but this is not GTA.. This is SAINT ROWS.. of course when they first came out many people said it was similar to GTA but now they are trying to change it and make it into a goofy enjoyable game.. Stop hating and just enjoy the fact that they are keeping it different.. You never know this game could just as enjoyable.. GIVE IT A CHANCE, its not the end of the world that they changed the theme.. relax..
Wow.... just WOW.... The direction they took this game to is sad and pathetic. The first 2 games were great, it was about territorial warfare for street gangs. 3 wasn't that great the storyh was pooh, the gameplay was pooh, though its only redeeming factor is it's fun just blasting shit up, but its repetative, redundant and boring. But this one? This load of muck doesn't deserve to be played at all it's lame stupid and outright FOUL.
With due respect to it's origin, I side with a reason to use and be challenged in a world as realistic as possible, but the super hero theme, for me, is ruining it's gangster tones that's integral to Saint Row. Happy with SR3.
I've a feeling it'll be tacked on in depth due to possibly integrating the initial Dominatrix dlc to use for a complete game :D

The saints row 1 was a great game despite of the chidish graphics but the gameplay was great
Just bcoz of graphics i passed on SR2 but preordered SR3 hoping for better game
what i found in the game was the some missions such as wrestling killbane , the http://deckers die and some other mission were way too fun and i enjoyed them alot but some missions were not likely
However in SR3 the graphics of th enviroment around us were ok but it seemed as the vehicles didnt have and details and looked silly but there were great mods to be made to them
1 Like I'm a conlficted on this one. I can understand the desire to just go crazy with your ideas and really come up with something completely absurd. I'd envy the opportunity to work on a game like this if I were a dev. But as a huge fan of the direction SR1 and 2 were going, I'm a bit disappointed at how the series has changed. I thought the tone of SR2 was perfect and the amount of extra stuff to do (side games/challenges, buying up business, car and character customization, and the whole city takeover process) and the level of polish and explorability to the city were second to none imo. That's what really stood out imo that made the series great early on. SR2 was like an open world gamer's paradise.
Sure SR3 was a good game, but it seems like the focus is being put more on making the whackier aspects of the game even whackier instead of finding ways to build on the already great depth of gameplay elements the series was establishing. I'll play SR4 because, just like SR3, it'll most likely be a fun game. But if it's much like SR3, from a gameplay depth pers[ective, I likely won't be buying it.

Its a must play, but I do not know if I'll buy it. Saints Row 1,2,3 were all awesome. I think 2 had the best story overall, but 3 was pretty cool with the over the topness. This game will make us all question, how far is too far?!?!
this trailer look so silly, SR was about gangs, guns, pinps and ho's. not this crap, the first game was awesome and though it might have been similar to GTA it stand on its own 2 feet with all the antics, but this is going too far for me....ill pass
@grayfox2000 yeah SR1 and SR2 were played like an action adventure but SR3 : every mission was somehow associatedwith vtols it eemed as if u were playing a flgiht game and to me SR4 looks like a magic or super natural power game , thats lame, it would have been the best to take it back in time where there were gangs etc
bringing too many chanages doesnt results good, just like ubisoft destroyed the assasins creed series with AC3
1 Like saints row 2 was definitely the best in the series and sr3 wasn't ridiculously bad... it was alright. Now this sr4.. I'm guessing this will be another sr3 with the over the top antics and humor.. Sometimes it gets a little too childish for my liking. But the gameplay is fun
2 Like Go to saintsrow.com and look up the forums. Almost everyone there hates SR3 and the way the series has been going after SR2. Now I was hoping myself for the series to take a turn more towards the brilliance of SR2 in the next installment, but after seeing this I'd gladly keep my money and let the retards that like huge purple dildos spend their money on this utterly dumb and ridiculous game. Volition, you deserve to go down with THQ.
That trailer looked horrible. The kiddies have stolen saint's row. 3 was bad enough, now it's just comical.
I haven't seen a comment here about SR1. has anyone played that? that was one of my favorite games, a lot more tongue in cheek humor than SR2 (which was still a decent game). Also: THE RADIO TALK SHOW. nothing better. So it looks like they might be trying to come back to that a little in addition to the outright craziness. which seems like a great combo to me, personally.
@SCWoodson007 saints row 1 was the best i would make my guy look like a mobster and spend hours opening safes in liquor stores,getting the cops on f stars and the gangs to 5 stars and standing on the top of my giant red gang or blue gang mansion with a rocket loncher

@ddoggbritt16 @gimousis Sometimes though, gamers are totally unreasonable. You give them something that is alot like the previous game and they're like "Meh, that's the same shit." Then you try to make something a little more different than the last game and they're all like "Bullshit, that's too different from the previous game! It's not that game at all anymore!"
You can't expect them to make the same game for 3 or more sequels. It has to be different. Plus you can't judge it by a 2 minute trailer. Give it a chance and if you don't like it, then comment on the reasons why you don't like it.

1 Like Maybe its just my sleep deprived sense of humor but I found the "hold on, I think we just missed a letter" thing hilarious. I guess it fits with their theme of acting really serious when they aren't really at all serious. In fact I think its kind of sad that they have moved away from that design where they would play it straight while subtly subverting the narrative. These days SR is just balls-out ridiculous and has lost any tongue-in-cheek nuance.

@kalgert123 I don't think Gta 5 will be crap. I mean just look at the difference in Dev time SR4: 2 years GTA5: 4 years. Just based on that I can see you statment kinda false. It really is opinion though and I play games for story and fun and SR3 delivered to the fun but not so much on the story with I think GTA 5 will.

lol aliens too this time, man SR2 was best. it was realistic , gangwars... hoods etc .. than came SR3.. but they took it to something else.... and now SR4 is totally idk what..... man can't they keep it like SR2. it was realistic and cool.. but this too won't be bad...i'm sure it would be fun..like SR3 was, but not like SR2
@evil_devil_mons saints row 2 was awesome but if it had mansions like in saints row 1 it would be the best the biggest thing i hated in saints row 2 was how if you rob a liquor store you cant open the safes and you get caught every time

The road from Saints Row 1 to Saints Row 4 must have been paved with yellow bricks. Each game seems to be more over the top then the last one. Maybe the protagonist will get to fight against "Oz the Almighty" in this version.

I'm surprised to see a SR4 this soon after the collapse of THQ. Gotta admit the trailer wasn't very impressive which makes me worried about how far in production Volition was able to do with THQ before the plug was pulled on them. I don't know much about Koch Media but I don't expect to see a high caliber game SR2 & SR3 was. Hopefully I'm wrong but conditions my be right for a game like this to be very shaky could be wrong but I don't think so in this case.
From what I remember there was supposed to be an SR3 expansion that had the alien invasion and was going to give you super powers. That had already started working on the expansion but they cancelled it. Can not remember when or where they even released a publicity shot for it that looks very similar to what is shown in the video. So it looks like they just took that cancelled expansion and decided to turn it into SRIV.

And of course it was a takeoff on "the matrix" where you are actually in an alternate reality kind of thing. They decided instead of building that add-on to SR3 they would make that the core concept behind a whole new Saints game. Its probably too early to tell if that was a good idea or not.
