A great break from the GTA series. Finally a game that matches GTA quality without being a poor ripoff.

Saint's Row is a free-roaming crime game that can be taken as a spoof of the GTA series, but it is better than that. It doesn't stoop to making a fool of itself like its sequel, Saints Row 2. The gameplay is different enough the GTA series (free aim, YES!) to give the feeling that you aren't just playing a crappy GTA with different graphics. Running, jumping, and shooting actually make causing, maintaining and surviving the frantic shootouts easier than in GTA.

Games in which you can create your own player always get a bonus from me because it personalizes the experience and makes causing mayhem that much more fun.

The guns, missions, characters, graphics, and cars are all great. Not as serious as GTA 4, but not so floaty as to be a waste of time. It strikes a great balance. The story was fun enough to play, but the car collecting and customization added a whole extra chunk of game time, making this a game you won't be done with in a flash, especially considering all of the side missions you can undertake to unlock more and crazier guns, outfits, and cars.

It is quite surprising how much they messed up Saints Row 2 when the first was so great.

Definitely a must-own for the 360, if this kind of game is your bag of course.
