The workingman’s watered-down God of War.

I was looking through the bargain bin at Wal-Mart and to my delightful surprise, Rygar: The Legendary Adventure was staring up at me. Being a huge fan of the original Rygar, I was thrilled. I popped it into my PS2 and began playing… Good graphics, good control, but to be honest, it’s no Rygar.

The environment, control, and upgrade system are similar to God of War’s, but it still can’t hold a candle to God of War, which is funny because Rygar came out first. You acquire multiple shields that can be upgraded as you gain experience points and as in the original Rygar, you need to find special items like the pulley and grapping hook, to navigate deeper into the game.

To be fair, it’s not a bad game, but I did have higher expectations. My excitement of playing “Rygar” carried me through the first half of the game and my determination to finish what I start brought me through the second half.
