When I heard another company was going to try their hand at a wrestling game (not counting Eidos), I was excited. When I heard it was to be an all female wrestling game, I was intrigued. Thus came Rumble Roses from Konami. Chances are if you are here, you've read Alex's review. Well he was right in a lot of ways, and also wrong. This game is not as deep as the Smackdown games, as far as wrestling moves go. There are a lot of girls to use however, 20 different ones. Each girl has her own alter ego as well, being a good girl or a bad girl. He also said this game was the Yuke's engine. Well he was about half right. Yukes actually had nothing to do with this game whatsoever. I don't know why they keep saying that, they aren't even mentioned in the manual's list of developers. The controls are similiar to the Smackdown games with but a few differences. For example, the grapple button is not where it once was. The voice acting, well it's not Oscar caliber but it isn't totally awful. I think the actresses could have used a little more interest in their lines. But let's face it, who is playing this for story? The match types are very limited to include exhibition, title, and mad mud mode. You have to unlock a title to fight for one. Exhibitions and mad mud matches are one on one affairs. The mud just seems like a rubber mat that has wet paint on it. The sound overall is alright, a soundtrack consisting mostly of groups you've probably never heard of. But for those of you dying for a new David Lee Roth song, here you go. ( All 2 of his fans should be happy. ) The graphics are where it's at. I have never seen a wrestler look this good. The animation is great, except for hiccups. I noticed more than once where the animation isn't fluid. Such as when my opponent was getting up, I went for a submission and it automatically put her in it without any animation to show how. Basically put, if you like girls and you like wrestling (two of my favorite things), then you are going to like this game. It isn't as deep as the Smackdown games, but for Konami's first shot, I think they did an excellent job! I look forward to the sequel, should there be one.
