Fallout New Vegas First Impressions

The game started out slow for me and then took off. Enjoying it just far. However, I can't help but feel as if New Vegas is simply a Fallout 3 mod; I've already witnessed an array of graphical glitches (NPCs getting stuck in rocks) and some of the weapons don't seem to fit in.

Recent Games + Best Buy + Strange Prices

After spending about a week in Houston doing some Christmas shopping (I currently live in Colombia as an Australian Expatriate), I found some great deals at.... BEST BUY.

Yes. Best Buy. I don't know what was going on with the pricing so I decided to pick up a few games for what I consider a steal. The prices were LOWER THEN WALMART/TARGET. OMG.

Crap I Bought:

Halo Reach - $39.99 compared with other store's $59.99 @ other Best Buys, Walmart and Target.

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Limited Edition - $19.99 vs. $39.99 at another Best Buy in the same city.

Battlefield BC2 Ultimate Edition - $29.99

Sears and their Games Time Capsule

I went into a Sears store and checked out the entertainment section. To my surprise, I found a time capsule of Xbox 360 games:

Dead Rising 1 (not the greatest hits version), multiple copies of the Godfather: The Game, The Elder Scrolls Shivering Isles addon and Halo 2.

And that is all.

I remember my freshman year of highschool, when everything was so different. Graduation and the realities of life was ages away. I didn't even care about graduating. But 2011 is here. I graduate in a few more months and I can't believe it has been this quick. Time goes by quickly.

As this is my senior year, all graduating students at my school have been assigned a Senior Project. The Senior Project must be something challenging yet feasible. Therefore, I've decided to work on a Half Life 2 Modification as my project. So I downloaded The Orange Box for PC, and I have been sucked in.

Retiring my Avatar/Profile Pic (2007-2010)

After being in service for nearly 3 years (October 22nd 2007 -- May 17th 2010), I have decided to retire my Tommy Vercetti avatar. To you guys, its just a picture. For me, it represents much more. I looked at this picture today has brought back so many memories; extreme nostalgia. It has been a hell of a 3 years for me as a member of the Gamespot community and my relationship with gaming; extremely hyped for Halo 3, even more hyped during Grand Theft Auto IV's release etc. It has been an amazing experience. Now that the new decade has already begun, I think it is time for new and fresh beginings.

Toy Soldiers (XBL) is My Childhood Dream

I'm actually looking forward to Toy Soldiers more then Mass Effect 2. Why? Because I always played with my little army set as a kid. Even though my toy soldiers were only made out of plastic, this game is every little boy's dream.

Got Indigo Prophecy and Flight Simulator X

Indigo Prophecy: Interesting gameplay and story. Will write a review once completed.

Flight Simulator X: Poorly optimized. Your CPU apparently does most of the work. Downloaded an add on aircraft and the FPS went from 40 to a pathetic 20.

For the heck of it, I placed a high-def version of Rick Astley's classic Never Gonna Give You Up in my Math Studies presentation. It had been a slow day and the teacher had a wtf look on his face. I shat myself thinking that I had screwed up with the video. At the end when I received my final grade, I got extra points for "getting the class's attention". I felt damn good

I used a Tommy Vercetti picture i found online as my display pic. It was larger then the required settings so the pic was focused on the his stomach and gun. I was lazy so I never corrected it. (This was back in Autumn 2007). 2 years later, I finally took the image and resized it in PS and uploaded it.

Christmas Game Rant

This break i've been playing a few games that i have never played before. So here is my take on them.

Arma 2: The amount of bloom used in this game is horrendous. The AI is plain stupid and reminds me of Battlefield 1942's AI.

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl: This game had so much potential. And it fails. The game is poorly developed technically as it take ages for the level to load and even exit the game. Hell, even a command prompt opens when you try to exit the bloody game and takes forever.

The Fall of the PC and Rise of the Consoles?

It seems that the PC has lost many of its exclusive titles to the consoles since 2006. I think the loss of Half Life 2 (and its mods etc) in 2007 was a big shocker to many PC fanboys. Consoles at the moment (especially the Xbox 360) seem to be taking most of the PC's best titles (multiplat). PC based series' like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout seem to have gone the multiplat route. I have no clue if the PC will regain its former glory. I'm not worried however, as I enjoy the best of both worlds owning a PC and an Xbox 360.

The Awesome Free Game known as Urban Terror

I will always I have a special place for Urban Terror, an excellent and FREE Counter Strike like FPS from Frozen Sand Studios. The game's graphics are kind of dated, but the game makes up for it in excellent gameplay and great players.

The game pits red team vs. blue team in well designed maps (you can download new ones too) in either team-deathmatch , capture the flag or free for all deathmatch modes. Team based games are the best. What seperates Urban Terror from other shooters is the fact that you can bleed; you need to patch yourself after getting shot. You can also basically customize your weapons with silencers, extra ammo and extra armor.

Anyways, enough talk. Play it now. Its Free.
