which he modded, for more power. It is a cool gun. So I got my own nerf gun the other day, there on sale at toyworld in australia.

I picked up the maverick for me, and 2 nite-finders for xmas gifts for my brother and his wife.

So It works quite well stock, and is a fun gun, but after reading about the mods you can do I pulled it apart and did 3 mods to it, so lets call it stage 3

-------------------------------------------------------------

So this is the insides of the maverick, springs and crap pop everywhere when you pull it apart, lucky after some trial and error I figured out where everything goes. How it works is like this, the Slider (not pictured, is what you cock it with, it compresses the main spring opening the air cylinder. When you pull the trigger it rotates the cam which moves the barrel into firing position (lines up the bullet with main thing on the front (orange bit), then the trigger hits the firing mechanism which releases the main spring, wich compresses the air in the cylinder, which pumps into the barrel very quickly and shoots the bullet out, when you let go of the trigger the cam rotates the barrel another half step, you can fire 6 times before reloading.

The penny mod is the easiest of all, just slide a coin or washer behind the spring to take up the slop, someone once said this mod made it shoot 1 penny further, but who knows, it certainly doesnt hurt.

this is the barrel mod, there are 2 versions, one that makes the barrel fold out further for easier loading, or the one i did which makes the barrel completely removable, so you can pop a loaded one straight in. (not that I have a spare) there is a lug on each end like in the picture.

This next stop is the most effective, these guns are designed for ages 6 and up so we dont want young kids hurting each other, Thankfully the gun is completely assembled with screws for easy mods. after pulling the barrel out, removing 6 screws and prying the orange end cap off, you can access the plugs the nerf bullets slot onto, remove the plugs and you will find the air restrictors sitting on a spring, I removed all 6 restrictors and the springs, when assembling the barrel I put the axle in backwards, which made the gun jam and not fire correctly after figuring out the problem and fixing it was all good. Here a pick of some of the restrictors.

The gun comes suction cup ****bullets, but I also bought pack of streamline darts designed for the longshot and recon models.

So how does it perform now? the stock maverick shoots about 20-25 feet, mine is now shooting over 45ft, then it hits the door at the end of the hallway, I assume I could reach 50feet max if I had the space, quite impressive for a toy, and is fun. When I get a chance to get some model supplies from a nearby city I will painting this, that should be fun too. Overall a great project for a weekend.

get your nerf on!

Thu, 26 Nov 2009 04:23:01 -0800 First piece of the puzzle arrives http://www.gamespot.com/users/kate_jones/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25762305 I had a good day, because I had a slurpee and a brain freeze. So Im building a PC and the first part came today which is the case, since it's dark and I'm lazy and the case still has plastic and stuff on it, you have to put up with promo pics, but promo pics are better than no pics!

So here is the little beast, it's an Antec p180 mini (although it's quite big) more like Gimlee than Frodo.

and of course a nakey shot !

Ok so PS3 Dragon Age: Origins finally got released on the 20th in Australia and I have been playing it a LOT

It reminds me of a few games, obviously mass effect and kotor but it really has an MMO feel to it, I spent quite some time in high raid guilds in WOW so I quite enjoying setting up the tactics and members for my party, I'm not sure how far into the game I am but I've seen 55% of the world and been playing for about 25 hours, my save says over 30 hours but I left it on and went gardening at one point.

So here is my character She is a Dalish Elf Rogue ranger/assassin

I fought my first Dragon the other day, was a great battle, took me a few tries to win it. Heres of pic of then the Dragon won

Think I'll play some after I finish this blog, it's a great game, if you like fantasy RPG you should check it out. I will also comment that I read a lot of people saying the ps3 had bad framerate, and well no it doesnt have a bad framerate, infact it runs much better than mass effect on my 360 does.

Ok so I also got a PlayTV today for ps3. for those that havnt heard of it, it turns your PS3 into a high definition TV recorder. It has dual tuners and can record one channel while viewing another, record tv while gaming and stuff like that, I've only had it set up for a few hours but it works great, it just directly records the signal, so theres no loss in quality. I have a 500gb hard drive in my ps3 so Im good to go.

Ok thats about it for this blog, stay safe and happy everyone.

weeeeeeeeeeeeee its sackboy in his space helmet so cute

Fri, 13 Nov 2009 09:27:47 -0800 Building a new PC and catching up http://www.gamespot.com/users/kate_jones/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25757039 My Gaming pc is a few years old, and it's noisy. It was awesome once

It has corsair XL pro rm with winbond chips, lights all over them, DFI lanparty motherboard, dual raptors running in raid 0, mobile barton cpu 1600mhz overclocked to 2.4 ghz with a 200mhz fsb, 800xtPE video card, I put a new bios in it and overclocked it. It has a window, lights all through it.

I learnt a few things from that computer, and thats I should have put a lot more thought into silence, and that it's impossible to sleep near a computer that looks like las vegas.

So I'm going to build a new one over the next few months, I'll be sure to take pics of things as they arrive, as this thread is lacking pics!

So what Have I been doing lately, I got seriously addicted to Demon's Souls after importing the deluxe version, I beat it (well I;m into new game+ and I'm lvl101, pretty proud of myself since it's suppose to be a hard game, though I dont think it is as hard as people say. I got about 71 hours logged on that game, I'm finally starting to not play it so much. Here's a Pic of my knight, she's a girl, but hard to tell in the armour.

I also picked up red faction cheap, been smashing a ew things here and there, fun game, the EDF (cops) annoy me though just like they do in GTA games, let me murder people and destroy stuff in peace! The buggys in red faction make me want to build them in LBP

Speaking of LBP I published 2 new levels on the weekend, so I have 3 up now, I just build vehicles, but oh well I have fun, if you want to check them out my PSN is seren77

Ok so I beat uncharted2, I have a problem with not finishing games, so I am stoked I've been finishing all these games lately. It's a fantastic game, I'll be slowly going through and beating all the stages again Hard, I've done a few so far.

I've also been playing mirrors edge, this is almost a great game if not for the cops once again wrecking my fun. Did space invaders have cops? did pacman have cops? we don't need cops in video games.

I've been playing forza3 on my xbox a bit too, it's a great game and well deserving of it's scores, I mostly enjoy the livery editor, and have made a few things on there, I made this hello kitty vinyl group and put it on this ford focus, I only have a few vinyl groups so far, but if you want to check them out my gamer tag for xbox is "shiftedstar"

My plans for the immediate future are, play mass effect, play broken steel, dragon age origins should arrive next week for ps3 really looking forward to that one, also getting the playTV for ps3 now it's released in Australia.

Ok Hope everyones doing well, I'm off to watch a movie, Columbus DAY, it's got val kilmer in it, he used to be sexy

Thu, 30 Jul 2009 07:55:20 -0700 Rebel 1 Fighting games. http://www.gamespot.com/users/kate_jones/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25707922 My first blog, thought I'd talk about the history of fighting games, or atleast the history of fighting games according to me.

First proper fighting game I remember playing was "The way of the exploding fist" by Melbourne House.

exploding fist

My brother bought this game and we played it alot on commodore 64. Joysticks had 1 button then and there was no health bar... every hit was fatal

At school I'd play Karateka on the apple ][e's, though it wasn't a two player fighting game it was still pretty good fun.

karateka

The I used to play alot of "Internation karate", it was the best so far, and zomg look its sydney!

international karate

I played some "Yie ar kung fu" at a friends place, it was all a bit weird to me, health bars.. multiple characters..

yiear kung fu

After these games, things started to get interesting, Street fighter, Mortal Kombat and Fatal fury got a lot of playtime among my friends. Not only did these games have unique characters they had a few of there own special moves and finishing moves, a great time to be into fighting games !

mortal kombat

I never had a Neo geo so I missed out on a lot of good fighters. I got some big combo's out on Killer instinct. Tekken and Soul Calibur I played fairly heavily, which are some of the earlier 3d fighters, My friend would always slaughter me at Marvel vs Capcom on dreamcast as I had no idea the moves

soul calibur

Many incarnations of tekken later here we are and Blazblue comes out, the first 2d fighter I've played since probably MK3.

blazblue

Noel for the win!

I's qute amazing how far they've come, more health bars than I have eyes, not only does each character have unique basic moves but a huge amount of specials, big moves and finishers. Air dashes, double jumps, sprints, recoverys, cancels it can all be pretty intimidating. Yet so much fun, finally feel like I have an arcade machine in my home
