Sat, 27 Jan 2007 22:50:22 -0800 HUGE! NES Collection For Sale! [UPDATED] http://www.gamespot.com/users/TryMe01/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24859895 670 different and guarenteed working NES titles are now up for auction on eBay. A picture of this massive collection is posted for your (and my) enjoyment. Wanna own this collection? Click here for the auction and good luck!! Better still, this auction also includes all NES accessories in good working condition!!!

and

Also to note, the person claims to have every single NES game ever released and licensed by Nintendo in this auction, but when comparing the list to Nintendo's, there is one game missing! I have no clue what this game is but if you do bother locating this game, please post a comment. Have fun!

[UPDATE] The seller cancelled all bids and is no longer selling the item. It was fetching bids at around US$20,000 before it was pulled from eBay

Fri, 26 Jan 2007 04:38:19 -0800 Wii News Channel Now Live! http://www.gamespot.com/users/TryMe01/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24857546 Extra! Extra! Read all about it... and that's pretty much all you'll be doing as there are few pictures and other media to view. The content is nice and the content is surprisingly very up to date.

Sport, international and technology news, just to name a few and viewing the news in a slideshow format is a very nice touch indeed. The added ticker like feature to the slideshow appearence, while the globe revolves, adds to the presentation to an otherwise lack luster and potentially useless channel to a majority of Wii users.

At least Nintendo decided to make this channel available a day earlier then expected (On Australia Day for us Aussies).

Also, England lost to Australia in the one day international cricket tri-series competion today, Eng: 110; Aus: 1/111.

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Thu, 21 Dec 2006 19:36:27 -0800 Wii Opera Internet Service now Live! (Trial Version) http://www.gamespot.com/users/TryMe01/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24813607 I guess living in Australia does have it's advantages, especially for world wide launches as we are always in the future compared to the majority of the world.

After downloading the "new" channel from the Shopping Channel and waiting almost 30 minutes to download, Wii internet surfing has so far been a pleasurable and different experience. Such sites like GameSpot, YouTube.com and Google all work just fine.

And if you are wondering, this plays just beautifully!

The only major problem is that if you have a small TV, there is going to be some difficulties in viewing the text. I guess component cables are ideal when Wii surfing. Also, there are limited functions due to the Wii remote and there is no right clicking (I guess Matt Casamassina from IGN must be thrilled with this Mac function).

I highly recommend you all to visit wiicarde.com or The Game Homepage on your Wii's and play a few simple flash games, really simple and probably the best way to take advantage of this service and play free games. Have fun all! Till the final version is released

Tue, 19 Dec 2006 03:16:48 -0800 Wii Forecast Channel now Live! http://www.gamespot.com/users/TryMe01/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24810232 It sure is, well at least in Australia and presumably worldwide as well. With the Wii turned off and watching TV, the Wii's blue LED light was glowing (more then the split second we are used to by now) and sure enough, something was sent to my Wii!

It turned out to be a message saying that the Forecast Channel was now available to "loyal Wii users". So three and a half hours ago, I downloaded my first channel (haven't downloaded a single VC game) and checked out the weather. Pretty sweet!

Unfortunately, they had Adelaide's (my city's) current temperature at 12 C, which was completely incorrect as it is summer down under.

One major issue so far, why couldn't the channel be automatically downloaded rather then a message. I guess it only updates and downloads while "you're asleep".

If you have a Wii and internet connection to your Wii, what are you waiting for?

Thu, 14 Dec 2006 04:46:16 -0800 Europe with the bragging rights on Wii http://www.gamespot.com/users/TryMe01/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24804343 WarioWare: Smooth Moves is released first outside of Japan in Europe on Jan 12, 2007 while the US gets their hands on this amazing game 3 days later on Jan 15, 2007. Lagging behind as usual is the Australian release to happen on Jan 25, 2007.

Also, Excite Truck which was launched with the Wii in the US see its first release in another region on Feb 16, 2007 again in the European region. This is closely followed by Japan exciting the Japanese on the 18th of Feb, 2007. And no surprise here, the game lastly seeing Australian shores on Feb 22, 2007.

All I have to say is that at least Nintendo is is closing release dates to all regions. Now I wanna see the Trauma Centre (or Center in other regions) released here, both DS and Wii versions! I wanna dig into some people!!

Tue, 12 Dec 2006 18:50:04 -0800 What Aussie Gamers Have To Put Up With... http://www.gamespot.com/users/TryMe01/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24802806 Once reading this and comprehending that we Aussies have to put up with, you can now understand how we Aussies feel and why the gaming market in this country is small. Everything is soo damn expensive, which is why many people refuse to buy any games at launch or at first release unless there is a huge discount (I got New Super Mario Bros. for AU$34 a month after release, from the RRP AU$69.95) or hardcore fans (unless it's Pokemon where parents continually buy these for their kids).

Nintendo Australia is the main reason for these prices as they do absolutely NOTHING to entice new gamers to play. Nintendogs, Brain Training (Brain Age) and Clubhouse Games go for a "bargain price" of AU$50, in the US, US$20. Every single game that is retailed is over priced by a huge margin. Games here for consoles are at AU$100 and the Xbox 360 are usually around AU$110, with a large reduction a few months after release. No discounts apply for Nintendo games. One example, Mario Party 4 still goes for AU$100 for the GCN. Stupid!!

Sony and Microsoft ain't that bad as many of their games retail for about $80 with big incentives of heavily reduced platinums of about AU$30, which is a great deal.

Importing is always an option but sales, waiting for discounts and eBay is always the way to go and a method to shafting Nintendo Australia especially.

Many accessories are alway well above its value, prime examples are VC games and the "Nintendo DS Lite Web Browser", the latter costing as much as a game!! The Wii Remote goes for AU$70 and the Nunchuk AU$30 as does the classic controller. Wii points are even more ridiculous at AU$30 for 2000 points.

We are continually being ripped off here in Australia (PS3 60GB for AU$1000!!!) with no rewards or loyalty schemes (like in Nintendo Europe or Nintendo Japan and to some extent Nintendo US, Nintendo Australia gives you an outdated wallpaper and unlocks screen shots and tips for becoming a member... lame). But Europeans are the ones paying more for their games (the above conversions are incorrect) and we Aussies got the DS Lite after Japan and the Wii before Europe. Some consolation.
