If your a constant reader on my Blog, a few Blogs back I said my Xbox 360 was going into Repair due to the Red Ring of Death. This was very unfortunite, and at a very unfortunite time as well. (Summer and all...). Anyways, here was my Status from Start to Finish.

My Thoughts

Purely amazing. I never thought Microsoft was so fast on there Repairs. I sent in an xbox on Monday, and Get it back the Friday of the same week? Awesome, I gotta say. When I kept checking the Status of my 360 online, it moved through the stages in no time. Before I knew it, the Purolator man was at my door delivering it to me with a smile.

"Heres your package, Sir."

My Response:"OMFG, RLYY??!?!? Ty Sir. "

I was in complete shock to be Honest. After hearing all the people posting on the internet about Microsoft taking 3 weeks to fix there Xbox 360, I felt like a lucky man. Ive also read on the internet that people get problems right after they open the package back up. So I actually havent opened the package back up yet, cause if something happens, ill comit suicide.

Be sure to check back in a few days....Because ill be editing this Blog to show you how my Xbox turned out. Will I get the RRoD again in a few days? Is it a new or refirbished console? Stay tuned to find out.

P.S: Post your experience with Microsoft Repairs, or maybe any other Console you've had to send in to get Repaired. I wanna hear your stories and compare em to mine.

Thanks for Reading,
BelatedNoob

Sun, 20 Jul 2008 12:27:50 -0700 Thoughts on the Xbox Experience http://www.gamespot.com/users/BelatedNoob/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25479431

Announced during Microsoft's press conference on Monday, the Xbox 360 dashboard will be receiving a full redesign, including the addition of avatars. Fortunately, your existing themes will be compatible with this new design. Gamers have split opinions on these changes.

My Thoughts:

With the slick new changes to the update im impressed I have to say. There were rumors going around that there was going to be an update to the XBox 360 Dashboard, but I never knew it was going to be this different. It might take a little while to get used to, without switching through the xbox blades but I think it will be neat. Another neat thing would be the avatars. Now I know EVERYONE is talking about them right now, and how there going to effect the future of the Xbox 360... Well they kinda remind me of the game series, "Sims". I've never really been a huge Sims gamer, but I know for a fact that these new avatars will make the Xbox 360 more great with there customizable features.

On the other hand, Netflix is going to be HUGE now that its Intergrated with the XBox 360. To tell you the truth, I didnt really know much about Netflix until it got announced with the 360. Its a really neat feature there adding onto the Xbox, because there prices are cheap...and you can watch ALOT of great movies for those cheap prices. It seems like Ill be buying a Netflix account really soon

With all these new changes with the Xbox 360, I have to say: ITS ABOUT TIME!
This seems to be long overdue, and its time that Microsoft Game Studios stepped it up a bit.

I hope that in the near future, Microsoft will release more videos on the changes and effects of the new XBox Experience, because in my eyes, its a winner.

What do you think? Was there a better way to simplify the dashboard without eliminating the blades? Post your thoughts below!

Fri, 11 Jul 2008 19:05:54 -0700 Do you think there will be a Halo 4? http://www.gamespot.com/users/BelatedNoob/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25469508 With all the mini discussions going on about Bungies next plans, do you think Bungie will decide to make a continuation of the Halo Sequal? Apart from Halo Wars, and the expected Halo Movie, I myself am not even sure as to wether or not they'll decide. Maybe some info will pour out at E3 for all we know..

If Bungie were to confirm Halo 4, that would be the greatest thing for me. Im a Halo Addict, and always will be. I've played in many MLG Tournaments, and have been playing the Halo Series for about 6 years running.

Anyways, what do you think about all this commotion? Do you think Bungie will actually create a new game to impress the audience, or will they fall in the depts with Halo 3? Comment Away, I wanna hear what you think

I've been sending around Resumes around like crazy, and finally found a pretty decent place to work. I work at a local Diner thats about a block away from my house. Its called the "Mercury Diner". Its a family owned restaurant, and its like bombed in there everyday.

Whats my job position you ask? Well, since the place is bombed all the time...I felt like being a waiter to make some decent tips

I just serve the food, and get tips, its that easy

If you want to know more about the restaurant, I found a link on the Internet that shows a little bit about the place..

Im so happy to be making more money then before...(Nothing...lol..)

Heres the link Below to the site.

So I decided the other day, That I wanted to spice up my Profile a Bit by replacing the Banner, and my Avatar.

Heres what my Gamespot Profile Banner looked like before:
Sorry it cuts out the whole Picture, Heres the link to the Full Size Picture Below:
Link

And Here's what it looks like Now:
Sorry it cuts out the whole Picture, Heres the link to the Full Size Picture Below:

I think the changes are amazing. Im not very good at Photoshopping, but I like to add in multiple effects in my Banners...it makes the pictures more effective. And now, time for the Avatars.

Heres what my Avatar looked like before (I miss the Flash Animation ):

And Here's what it looks like Now:

I know it seems to be quite a Change to my Profile, and I do miss the Flash Animations alot...But I wanted an Avatar that matched my Profile. I think a lot of Members on Gamespot do this to there Profile, so why not do it to mine?

EDIT: Just Recieved the VIP Emblem for Watching Gamespot's Tournament TV Episode for GH Aerosmith. If you havent seen it already, I recommend you watch the Ending, cause it was an intense battle. 9.5/10. Heres the Emblem I got:

Anyways, yeah...these are the latest Changes to my profile. This and editing some Personal Information which im not going to share just incase you people are Stalkers Haha, Nawh...I trust you all...I think

What do you think about the latest Changes to my Profile? What could I have improved?
It would be nice if you can Comment and Share, because I always like improvement...so it will look that much better next time

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 19:31:44 -0700 Recent Xbox 360 Problems http://www.gamespot.com/users/BelatedNoob/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25445028 Can anyone guess whats happened to me over the past couple days? I've been spending countless hours trying to find a way to Repair my Xbox from this:

Thats right. Ive just recieved the Red Ring of Death on my Xbox 360. Although this happens to everyone, Microsoft should have found a way already to completely fix this problem. Anyways, I came across this stupid "Towel Fix" for the Xbox 360. I thought this was just a stupid prank to get peoples Xbox 360's on Fire, but I guess not. It seemed to Fix my Xbox!

Although I already got the Box in the mail for the 360 to be sent in for Repairs, I dont think i'll have to for a while anyways. I have a strong feeling that the 360 wont get the Red Ring for a while, and I dont know why. Ill update this Blog as stuff happens though.

Can anyone gimmie some tips, ideas, etc on What to do to not get this again, or Anything? That would be Great.

Thanks,
BelatedNoob

Overall, it was a pretty good tourney...The only prob I had was that the Organization of the tourney was pretty bad. They just had so many quitters, it was outragious. Ohwell, I still like my new emblem.

In other news, Here are some Game updates from the past few weeks. Ive gotton to about 40% in GTA IV....Not to good. Although, I have been totally owning Crysis on the PC. I beat the Campaign completely, and have started playing it online.

So thats the newest updates. What do you think?

Tue, 29 Apr 2008 16:14:38 -0700 Grand Theft Auto IV Impressions http://www.gamespot.com/users/BelatedNoob/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25398415 There are good and bad games for every game console. The Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 had there lucky day today as Grand Theft Auto IV Finally got released by Rockstar Games. Ive seen things on Gamespot from Videos, to Preiviews, Reviews, etc, and decided to go out and purchase a copy.

My Impressions:

EXCELLENT! 10/10

Im glad Gamespot gave the Game a 10/10, because theres just so much action going on within the game, its like a never ending cycle of hell. I dont wanna tell you everything, but there are alot more features then in San Andreas. Im still going through the Campaign, and I think I will be for a while, because I heard its very long. Watch out for the cops though because there like 10x more harder then they were in San Andreas. You can shoot n00bs, blow up stuff, play online, co-op available, do drug runs, go to strip clubs, internet cafes, clothes shopping, etc. So much you can do..

So what do you think about the game? What are your Impressions of the game?

This weekend, I thought i'd finally get around to typing up my Resume for the EB Games thats opening up in our area. Ill be so excited if I get the Job, because ill be working in the field of Gaming.

Just today, I went over to the store to hand it to the Manager. You know, just gave him a big Hello, shook his hand etc, then gave him the Resume. Right now, there still painting the place, so the store wont be up for another couple weeks. Thank god I got that over with. The weird thing was, the Manager of the store said I was the first one to apply. Isnt EB Games still a popular place to go to?

Anyways, Feel free to wish me luck below....and ill be sure to post again with my results on the Job.

Sat, 29 Mar 2008 04:04:21 -0700 Game Censorship http://www.gamespot.com/users/BelatedNoob/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25365634 Censorship is one of those topics that will have everyone from the right wing, the left wing and everybody in between get all frothy at the mouth. Video game censorship has been done to death, and it's hard to write about it without retreading well worn ground. What's odd for me about Manhunt is that I find it hard to get worked up about it. Explicitly represented violence in any medium has always made me a bit uncomfortable, and yet when I look over at my shelf o' games, I'm surprised to see the number of 18-rated titles I have. Owning most of the GTA games bumps up the count, Yakuza is another adults only, and so is Killer 7, though I must admit to not having played that yet – I'm prone to having dreams about games I get into, and I'm a little worried about having nightmares of murderous split personalities.

Should that little nugget of information worry both myself and anybody else out there? Perhaps. I'd never consider myself a violent person – I wear teddy bear pyjamas and get upset if I stand on snails by accident – but it is obvious by my sometimes murderous dreams that some of the games I play have an affect on my subconscious. I'm entirely confident that I'm not going to go out with a golf club and start beating people with it, and I know that is the case for 99.99% of gamers out there. I've always been of the opinion that if someone is going to go out and commit violent acts, it doesn't matter what they're exposed to, they are going to do it anyway. I may be right, I may be wrong, no-one seems to know yet – but there's people out there who are determined to censor anything that involves interactive violence.

I am not a fan of Jack Thompson. I find his views on gaming to be ill-informed and the manner in which he conveys them to be puerile. Unfortunately, he is an easily accessible mouthpiece of anti-gaming drivel that is music to the ears of conservative adults all over the world. His rants against Manhunt II on the Wii being a simulator for training future killers is easily digestible, and yet there's a small part of my mind that feels he does kind of have a point.

I must confess.… I do quite like CSI: Las Vegas. New York I could take or leave, and Miami makes me want to throw things as David Caruso. Anyways, I like to watch and figure out what's been going on before the characters do (who, frankly, are not the brightest bulbs in the box at times), and I find myself coming up with curiously clever ways to potentially do away with someone and then hide the evidence. Having watched far more CSI than I care to think about, I sometimes wonder just how much cunning crime-committing knowledge I've learned. These programmes revel in the explicitness of their clever crimes, and then reveal them to an intrigued viewer. The viewer then learns how to commit a crime, and potentially how to amend where the on-screen criminal failed. This is not to say that everyone who watches CSI will use their new found knowledge to rob banks, bump people off and elude the finest that forensics have to throw at them, but it's worth bearing in mind when we come to consider Manhunt II.

Violence isn't the only thing people get funny about. Drugs are a no-no, nakedness is the sort of thing only people lacking in common moral decency would portray, and sex…well, that could finish off your grandma. Whole governments can get panicky about it, especially if there's two people of the same gender involved. Singapore almost banned Mass Effect for its girl on girl involvement. At least now you can find it on the shelves with an eighteen certificate…

The Wii has the unique selling point of this generation, and I'm not surprised that Rockstar wanted to use that to their advantage. There was a lot of excitement before Red Steel came out that we'd all be able to become expert swordsmen and women via the wiimote, and notably no concern that maybe we'd all go out and do nefarious things with our new found abilities. Good – because that's the way it should be. We're not idiots…and yet, Manhunt II's very interactive control scheme makes me uneasy. The odd thing is, I can't find a definitive reason why this should be the case. If I am, as I stated earlier, confident that regular people will not go on murderous rampages just because they've played GTA, then what is my problem with Manhunt? I don't get uncomfortable with Red Steel or Twilight Princess, and I'm of the opinion that adults should have the right to play what games they want. Theoretically, I'm against the banning of Manhunt II, but at the same time I'm ambivalent about its not being on the shelves. I've watched the trailers of the various murders, and the thought of being able to physically enact them just doesn't sit right with me. There's something a little off about being able to saw someone's limbs off, as reported in one of the UK magazines who managed to review a pre-release copy of it.

Sex in videogames gets the same sort of shifty looks that violence gets because of all that pesky interactivity. If gamers could be affected by violence, then all hell could break loose if we expose them to copulation. I have far fewer issues with representations of love, be it physical or emotional. It's nice to think that games can positively represent such complex, abstract comcepts, but sex and love are generally lumped in with violence by those not in the know, so naturally it's going to be graphic and offensive.

Thankfully, a game hasn't yet been banned because of representations of sex and love (though San Andreas flew very close to the wind) and as heterosexual love is still regarded as being dirty and obscene, homosexual love is facing a long, uphill battle. At least when storylines get more sophisticated, the way ahead does have a light at the end of the distant tunnel. Violence, however, will always be violent, and will always upset people.

I know I am firmly of the opinion that there are some games that simply should not be played by children, in the same way that there are some films that should not be seen by children. I am well aware that there are plenty of twelve year olds who have played each game in the Grand Theft Auto series, because some parents have failed to recognize that gaming isn't just for children, or because kids are sneaky and they get their hands on things that they shouldn't. Perhaps it's knowing about these GTA kiddies that makes me so ambivalent about censorship when it comes to Manhunt II. Whatever happens, I shall watch the debate continue with interest.

Sun, 16 Mar 2008 18:24:41 -0700 Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warefare http://www.gamespot.com/users/BelatedNoob/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25352137 Over the March Break, I got a little sick of playing the same rounds of Halo 3 over and over again... I then decided it was time to buy a new game. I went over to EB Games, (I had a Giftcard), and purchased CoD4 for the Xbox 360.

Overall, I think its a totally awesome game. I havent finished beating the Campaign yet, but it has a very good storyline to it. Then theres the multiplayer. I think the Multiplayer is downright amazing, but could use some new maps. About a week ago now, Gamespot posted a news article saying that there will be some new DLC available for CoD4 coming soon, which is great. Ive been playing the Campaign and the Multiplayer for a few days now, and I couldnt have picked a better game.

Not to be any kind of a show-off or whatever, but after playing the game for 4h + 12min, ive reached the level 20 out of 55. I dont know if this is good or bad, but I personally think its a great start!

If you happen to have CoD4, for any console, feel free to comment about it below, and ill respond!
