Assassins Creed is an incredible game when you first get your hands on it. Running from rooftop to rooftop, silently assassinating guards, and saving citizens, is all very fun... until you do it for the hundredth time. By far one of the funnest things in the game is just climbing on top of buildings ad seeing the living, breathing world at your feet. When you get down to that world though, you'll see many repetitive things. Beggars all look the same, when you save a citizen they all say the same things, all the thugs with knives wear the same outfit...

Although, the main point of the game is to just go through the list of assassinations that you are given. After each assassination, a cut scene takes place and the story moves along, a new weapon is given, and a new move. The gameplay all boils down to two things, climbing on buildings and fighting. The latter is not done so well. You can easily get through most of the game by just doing a counter attack, which when preformed the camera changes to a cinematic angle and you see Altair pull off a stunning move.

The game overall is a spectacle to behold, but one that is short.

After playing Hexic HD for a few hours, it has proven to be a fun immersive game, which reminds me of Bejeweled. It borrows the same basic concepts from Bejeweled. Throughout the games three different modes the basic game mechanics stay the same, except that each different mode, Survival, Marathon, and Timed, has you using a different strategy. Survival is all about getting through as many pieces as you can and positioning your star pieces to unlock the locked pieces. Marathon has you tying to make star pieces to win the game, and Timed has you working against the clock, promoting fast work.

My favorite is the Marathon game type. There is no end until you make it three black pears, and put them together. The game can potentially go on forever, but diffusing the bombs can sometimes be tricky. If not diffused, when the bomb counts down to zero, it's game over.

The game starts off slow in the first few levels of Marathon mode, introducing you to new things slowly as your level progresses. The only problem is it doesn't tell you how to win until the last level. By then it's too late and very hard to get flowers. It's easiest to get flowers in the beginning levels where there are only a few colors.

For most people, Hexic HD will come free on the hard drive, if not it might be worth the purchase to play it for the afternoon. It is certainly a must buy for any casual gamer and for anyone who likes puzzle games.

Sun, 24 Feb 2008 12:19:32 -0800 jrabbit99 reviewed Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 for the PC... http://www.gamespot.com/command-and-conquer-red-alert-2/user-reviews/552130/platform/pc/ ...and gave it a 9.5!

Red Alert 2 takes place in the "battlegrounds of alternate history." The premisice of the game is that Russia invades the U.S. The story is hillariously conveyed through live action cut scenes like the CnC games before it.
Red Alert 2 is your tipicall RTS game where you build a base, build up a massive army, and then utterly destroy your enemy off the face of the earth.
It plays much like the original Red Alert except with new units like mutant squids and dolfins, and then there's Yuri. A crazy man who takes over the brains of other people, controlling them.
Both sides, Soviets and the Allies are very ballanced. The Soviets have better low tear units while the Allies have better high tear units, although its pretty even. Each country in the game has it's own special, unit, structure or ability. The U.S can drop parratroopers, while Cuba has terrorists who blow themselves up.
The game features no long technology trees or upgrading, in fact, there are no upgrades at all. You gain acces to new units by building certain expensive buildings. This makes each online match go relitively quikley because it's easy to rush. When you get bored of playing against peoplem you can play co- op with them in a short "campain." Sadly, each campain is merely a online match with you two vs the comp, no story, no special base to attack, nothing. But, you probaly won't venture there.
Overall the game is a superb, highly addictive game that will keep you playing for a long time to come.

The game isn't that bad but gets repetitive. AOE3 doesn't have the great game modes of AOE2 like score and the others. Also, training 5 units at a time is bad. Especially if you don't have the best comp. The graphics are good but could be better.
The whole home city thing is nice though, except it gives an unfair advantage to people who have been playing the game for a long time.
After buying it, i was upset that the story wasn't historical, especially after the previouse AOE games. Bottom line, save your money, but Halo Wars instead.
If you can get it cheaply it's worth it to see the nice new gameplay additions, but not worth full price.

Oblivion is the latest from the elder scrolls series. The game is very imersfull filled with lots of relpay value. I own an above average laptop and the graphics are good. The only problem is in combat when the framerate slows.
The world itself has so much to explore. The game is a must buy for any rpg fan, whether you like bein a thief, a mage, a fighter or anything in between, the game will acomidate you.
Oblivion is the best rpg ever, and now is the best time to buy it if you haven't already. They just camo out with the game of the year addition, with all the expantions.

The game is hard to describe, but it's a must own.
