-- Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi

-- Dragon Ball Z is one of the greatest television series I had ever watched. The drama, the characters, the punching. Needless to say, there are countless fighting titles based on the series now days. The only Dragon Ball Z fighting games I have ever played are Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and Budokai Tenkaichi 3. They were both some of the greatest full 3D fighting games ever created, it's a shame people ignored it as just another generic crappy 'Anime-Fighting Game'. But that's not on the menu.

-- So I got Ultimate Tenkaichi for the PS3. It TRULY IS the Dragon Ball Z game that captures the feeling of the series most; it is intensely cinematic. The game will slow down and turn black and white when their fists slowly close in on each other, huge blasts will trigger adrenaline pumping 30 second scenes, etc, etc. And that's Ultimate Tenkaichi's biggest flaw. It's too cinematic for it's own good. Seeing a cool 30 second scene is cool at first, but sickeningly monotonous after you see it 50 times. The action keeps pausing when you are to close to your opponent, readying you for a rock-paper-scissors punching duel. That brings me to our second massive flaw. Close combat punching is handled via a random chance 'pick A or B!' sort of thing. So forget getting good at the game, some 5 year old kid will beat you into a plup if you get unlucky.

-- The 'making your own character' feature is stripped-down, the story mode is bare bones, but at least the online play is relatively lag-free. The graphics are nice, but a touch bland.

-- All in all, I would not recommend this game to anyone, unless he was ABSOLUTELY a hardcore Dragon Ball Z fan.

Thu, 23 Feb 2012 14:24:04 -0800 ShadowofSonic reviewed Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii... http://www.gamespot.com/donkey-kong-country-returns/user-reviews/788420/platform/wii/ ...and gave it a 10.0!!!

-Donkey Kong Country Returns- Even know I had a SNES as a child, I never had a single DKC game. I got Donkey Kong Country merely because I wanted a good platformer, and people were really talking it up. Opon sliding said game into my Wii, I was greeted with a musical tune that I recognized as the main theme for the series. As I played the first few levels, I thought the game was pretty good. However, the more you play this game, the more dazzled you get.

-I first noticed a keen attention to detail. When you are at an edge of a platform on your rhino, he have a semi-panicked look to his eyes, as he scrambles to get up. When you just stand there, Donkey Kong will pull out a Nintendo DS and start playing. When you pound on a mushroom, there will be a little puff of pollen that disperses in the air. These little things may not sound like much, but it goes a long way in making the game feel much more alive.

-The level design is some of the greatest in platforming history and it never lets up, in difficulty or quality. You'll be walking in a cave, then you'll jump on a mine cart and start speeding down a slope. Then a mole will come out of nowhere and start throwing explosives at you. Then, ice spikes start falling from the ceiling and the rail you where on breaks off and bends into a ball, sending you careening towards a bottomless pit. Which brings me to..

- The difficultly in this game will always sadistically mock you. If you think that beating the game isn't too hard, then try getting all the KONG and puzzle pieces. Oh, and you will want to, because getting them will unlock even harder levels. Once you complete all there is, you unlock a 'Alternate Dimension'. You must replay all the levels, backwards, and with only one piece of health. This game is the 'Dark Souls' of platformers.

- Lastly, the music is divine. While 90% of the tracks are remastered versions of the original songs form DKC, that's not a bad thing. Hearing those retro themes with real instruments is incredible. The game also has a few new tracks, and all of them are great. Two major stand outs are 'Sloppy Sands' and 'Rocket Barrel'. Google them. Seriously.

-People say the game has two flaws. One being the motion controls, and another being the boss fights. I played the game with the nunchuk and stick, and never once did I have a unfair death caused by the motion controls. As for the bosses, they aren't bad at all. They are varying and entertaining, and that's really all you can ask for in a good boss encounter.

- This game is so great, I actually got every game in the series for my SNES.

And that's about that. A fantastic game in every way, and one of the best 2D platformers ever made. If you have any doubts, go and play it. You will not be disappointed.

SCORE: 10/10

Oh,where to begin? Let's just say it! This game is in the top five best GBA games ever.First is game play, its a little simple with just mashing the 'A' button when your near an enemy and 'B' when your far away from your enemy.Sounds easy, right? NO! You have to time carefully when you punch so you can get a 'rhythm' going and score many hits in a row.You learn many powerful 'ki' attacks though out the game,as you level up your character. You can also play as Gohan,Trunks,Vegeta,Goku,Piccolo and everybody's least favorite, Mr.Satan.
This games graphics are great for the GBA,even if the characters facial expressions never change.
Legacy Of Goku 2 has the best musical score of any GBA game.Yes I said it.I never even knew about DBZ until I played this game.It was the first time I ever heard of 'Dragon Ball Z'.The story is mind-boggling and gripping.
If you have never heard of dragon ball z,get this game, you will not be disappointed!

Wed, 11 May 2011 08:08:38 -0700 ShadowofSonic reviewed Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for the PlayStation 2... http://www.gamespot.com/metal-gear-solid-2-sons-of-liberty/user-reviews/764409/platform/ps2/ ...and gave it a 9.5!

When I first turned on my PS2 the opening took my breath away. When I first got to playing the controls seemed so complex. And they do take a little while to get used to,but when you get the hang of them you'll see that this game let's you do just about anything! The camera is perfect, not one problems there.Even in 2011 the graphics are still quite nice looking,no real graphical hiccups. The story may not be as riveting as MGS1 and you may find it a little too over the top,but it is still what you would come to expect form the series. It is very confusing though and at the end of the game you're gonna be very confused! The cutscenes are masterfully done and it'll be like watching a movie! But the game isn't the biggest game in the world,It's about 14 to 18 hours long.Overall,it it one of the top PS2 games.

Mon, 07 Feb 2011 16:30:25 -0800 ShadowofSonic reviewed Super Mario Sunshine for the GameCube... http://www.gamespot.com/super-mario-sunshine/user-reviews/754952/platform/gamecube/ ...and gave it a 9.5!

Mario games NEVER let the fans down. The game is
as good as Mario 64!Great level design so,you will never get tried
of this game. For a completion-ist, this game will be fun forever! It never
ends, because this game is 40-50 hours long. The game's difficulty level is very high and some shines are impossible to get unless you get help from your computer! The graphics are fantastic, although the character models could have been better.Ths voice-overs are very bad and they will grate on you!
Funny, two things I love are the beach and space.Nintendo has truly filled those two loves! You will replay the game over and over again!
This game is very underated and I believe that it's one of the best mario video games to hit the market ever. It's a very well thought out game by the best minds of Nintendo! The amount of polish put into this game is truly something to behold! Great work,Nintendo!
