Tue, 12 Oct 2010 00:36:34 -0700 Arwviv001 reviewed Assassin's Creed II for the Xbox 360... http://www.gamespot.com/assassins-creed-ii/user-reviews/740340/platform/xbox360/ ...and gave it a 9.0!

In the sequel to assassins creed, assassins creed 2 you play as Ezio Auditore de Firenze a gripping character with a lot of attitude and an undeniable charm with the ladies. Somewhat early in the story after your father and two brothers are hung by the orders or Rodrigo Borgio it becomes a tale of revenge. But by the end of the game Ezio realizes that the things happening to him and around him is much more important than avenging the Auditore name. Considering how much of a success the first game was you would think it would be quite hard to improve on a game which was such a great hit, I will admit the game had its faults. It is pretty similar with the first game, you will have missions and instructions for quests, most of them being assassinations. This game continues on with the same combat structure, picking your weapon and slashing them to death with it. There a three great improvements to the combat of this game, the first being learning skills that essentially are critical to the killing or stunning or guards. You can learn things from disarming your opponent making it much easier to kill them or learn to throw sand in their face and stun them to make a break for it and exit from the line of sight. The second improvement is that also Ezio can upgrade his armour, weapons and projectiles. You can upgrade this such as how many throwing knives or what weapon you use whether it be a quick knife or a hammer that can deliver powerful blows. The Final improvement and one of the greatest in my books is that there are new weapons. Ezio has a hidden pistol that he can lock on and aim at targets delivering a one shot blow that will take down an enemy, he also has smoke bombs which are essential for escaping or quickly running past a huge gather of guards to quickly perform that oh so important assassination, and the final new weapon, Ezio has is a hidden blade, but not just one like Altair had in the first game but Ezio has two hidden blades at his disposal for the tremendously satisfying double assassination . You think this game is just over rated with being able to purchase items like this, wrong. While you will buy a lot of your weapons and most of your armour from the blacksmith, you have a secret weapon and his name is Leonardo Da Vinci. In most things you will see Leonardo is displayed as an older gentlemen with a long white beard. In this game he is portrayed as a young man with a great sense of humour and a greater mind that can break codes and read codex pages which are very important in the game. He is also the mind behind decoding the blueprints and building the hidden blades which Ezio uses. There are parts of ease in this game but there is also parts of difficulty because guards are now more vigilant and will check hiding spots which makes hiding in the hay the less appealing object and just running away the more consistent and used strategy . You will also take charge of your own villa which is where you live, the town of Monteriggioni is at your feet, you decide how your town goes. It is wise to improve your town because the money your town makes you collect making it easier to improve your weapons and armour. The graphics in this game are great, the ubisoft team put a lot of effort with designing the towns which you visit. The only downside graphic wise is that outside the animus the detail is not to sharp. The faces look a bit like they were smudged in the process but overall this game is a great game for anyone who likes a compelling story with heaps of side missions, jumping from building to building with some sweet air assassinations.
