Ridge Racer is a game that offers both excitement, and huge amounts of unlockables. The unlockables vary from cars, to minigames, and others. But lets first start of with the gameplay, the most important aspect of a racing game. The gameplay delivers many different types of racing. From using your NOS on a straight road and passing all of your opponents, to drifting for a long time to regain your NOS, the game never gets old. The drifting mechanics were something that was newly added to the franchise, to give the player the ability to go even faster with these European super cars. The racing is very easy to pick up, and the AI gives a challenging, but possible to beat race that can give you the most excitement any arcade style racing game can offer.
Now lets move on to the cars. Ridge Racer offers a vast variety of cars to choose from. There are 6 classes, and even a super class which contains cars like a lego arcade car, a rocketship with Pac-Man driving, and a long boatlike car. In the 6 classes, there are roughly about 12 cars in each class, so it gives you tons of cars to choose from no matter what class you are driving in.
The Extras in the game bring a lot to the experience of driving a car 300 MPH. From the crazy, spiffy tunes and the guy who keeps on encouraging you to go faster in the middle of the race, to the fun, but hard mini game involving a blue car trying to get yellow flags, you'll never get bored of the game, even when you finish playing the World Tour mode with all of the cars. Not saying you will finish World Tour mode with any ease.
At some points in the game, you start to see that the game gets a bit annoying and tedious, because some races are truly impossible to beat, and you feel like chucking the PSP across the room, and start playing another game. Well at least that's how I felt. The World Tour mode gives a lot of races to play from, and will take you minimum 3 months to finish the whole entire World Tour Mode, and that's if you truly dedicate your whole life too the game for a good 3 Months.
All in all, Ridge Racer has lots to offer, and I am sure that if you buy this game, you will not be disappointed for a LONG time.

[PROTOTYPE] (review on PC)

GOOD:
Action! Action! and one more time..ACTION! There's a lot of action in this game and it's so much fun. I have probably never played a game that has more action then [Prototype].
There are also so many upgrades for the main character. So many that it may actually be too many for some, but not for me! You earn Evolution Points (EV) by almost doing anything in the game (missions, destruction, etc.) and you spend EP on upgrades such as new moves, powers, etc. And most of the upgrades are so much fun to use. Some are very useful, others - just for fun.
Animations for Alex Mercer (main character) aro also very well done. He moves like a human (well technically he's not human anymore) and his moves and powers look and feel amazing.
Vehicles..there are only 2: tank and helicopter, but very surprisingly they control and feel very well. Especially helicopter, I was afraid that heli will be useless but it's actually easy to use and very useful. There are also 2 types of tanks and one of them is very powerful that it's rocket blast feels like a small atomic bomb (really sweet!).
The game's missions are also pretty fun as it let's you do the mission almost anyway you want since you can use any powers/moves you want. There are also many mini-games that are actually fun and useful. My favorites are gliding and consuming.
Other great thing is that after you finish the main missions you can continue playing the game just like in GTA with all your unlocks. You can do side missions or just cause destruction.
You can climb and pick almost any object in the game and use it as a weapon. Travelling is also very fun because it's a mixture between Spider-Man, Hulk and Superman. You can glide, jump, run, etc. Travelling almost never gets boring (*cough* FarCry 2).
You can also consume anyone and become the one you consume (excludes infected). Consuming is very important for: it gives health and stealth. Very important factors in the game.
Story is also interesting and told interestingly. Characters are few but interesting. You can consume special people in the city to uncover even more of the story in a very unique cutscenes.
And again..this game is just pure action. You'll fight mutants, soldier, zombies, helicopters, tanks, etc. but most of the time it's gonna be a very fun and enjoyable fight because of all the powers and awesome moves Alex has.

BAD:
Graphics are not the best..This is definitely no GTA IV and doesn't have unique and relevant to New York building. Most of the building look the same..boring and dull. Draw distance is also bad, when you are high with heli, mostly you'll see fog and it doesn't look too good.
Soundtrack and voice acting are nothing special. I would like the game to have more intense and varied music as well as better voice actors who actually put some emotions while acting.
Cutscenes..they look pretty bad (only few are 'high-res') and most of them are pretty boring. When compared to GTA IV cutscenes, which are very fun to watch and feels like you watching a movie, [Prototype] cutscenes are just short conversations where someone tells Alex to do something and he drops few words before cutscene ends. Story is interesting, but cutscenes should have used much more work.
Difficulty..well the game is not that hard, but you will die a lot of time (at least I did) and some missions can get frustrated.

OVERALL:
I was never too interested in this games, but I am very very happy that I picked it up, because it's a perfect game after a long working or school day.

MIRROR'S EDGE (EA Games, Dice)

Positive:
It's unique! It's fresh! It's something new AND it's from EA... What else can you ask for? The whole parkour thing is great and not as developed in games, but this game takes place in first person view so it's that much more interesting. It was great to see that EA is not afraid to experiment and they did a pretty good job with this game. It was fun to run around rooftops and jump from building to building. The Faith moves and feels like a real human being. You see her legs, arms, you hear her breathing. It's just something different and cool.
Graphics, unique and different too. They are so 'clean' and sharp. The colors are bright - yeallows, reds, blues. It was to see how different the city looks in some places. Some places are almost all green, whereas others are blue. Also, it is really cool when some things in the game are completely red. This is called 'runner's vision' and it basically helps you or gives you the best route. The graphics are really pretty in this game and I think it works very well in this kind of game.
Music is also awesome and goes well with the game. It's mostly techno or remix and it is great to run around the rooftop and hear some upbeat music. I also love the original ME song 'Still Alive' by Lisa Miskovsky. It's a great song, but it's name always reminds me of a different game/song...

Negative:
The game is short...very short and the story is not the best. There is not much replayablity, because it's almost all the same in single player. It has 'time trials' but I did not find them that much interesting.
Also, even though the graphics look nice, but the streets and everything that happens 'below' looks terrible. The cars are all squarish and don't drive around 'naturally.'
The gun gameplay is not that great either. The hardest part is to steal a gun. You need to time everything so perfectly and if you fail, well then there is 90% chance you die. It gets frustrating when there are lots of enemies. It's hard to steal a gun from one and is also hard to run away from them, especially when you are not sure where you are supposed to go in a first place.

Mario Kart Wii has so much to offer, you can't even explain the amount of fun there is when you play the game. First of all, there are about 40 characters, half of which are new, and half which have appeared in previous games of the Mario Kart series. The game doesn't get boring at all because of the amount of character unlockables there are to offer. Another great add-on is the ability to drive karts, cars, and even bikes! They each have their own specs, like acceleration, handling, turbo, etc. Then, there are the huge amount of things to do in the game. First, there is the time-trial mode, where Nintendo producers, and developers challenge you to defeat their time in the extremely fun races. Not to mention the 32 different tracks from DS, Gameboy SP, Gamecube, and even Nintendo 64. Then there is the battle mode, where you either challenge another team to collect the most points, or shoot peoples 3 balloons with shells, and other weapons used in races. Finally there is the Wi-Fi mode, where you can play online with players all over the world with up to 8 people online. You can also play split screen online as well with one of your friends. And the most importantly, the controls are super easy to use. As you can see, there's no reason to get bored with the most fun racing game on the Wii yet, Mario Kart Wii.

This game isnt like the other wolverine games out there. Raight at the start of the game, there is blood. the opening cinematic sees wolverine basically holding a guy up and sabbing him again and again. It not like the other games...where wolverine basically tickles the others into submission

Good; Graphics are suprisingly good. esspicially a movie to game....game. The light coming off wolverine kool. and the most impressive thing is the real time regeneration. it look quite weird at frst, if you dont really pay much attention to it. but after a while. when you see a giant cut on wolverins back, and it starts closing up, you WILL go "WOW!!!" its cool after a while when enimies start to get guns and will be able to put holes in you. you are able to see wolverines regular or metallic skeleton. depending which part of the story your at. Boss fights are awsome because its jsut fun slashing them. Fights are quiet fun, button mashing work to a certian extent, but lundge at people are just fun....as you see enemies getting sliched in half in slo-mo.

Bad: The game is quiet easy, espically with the mutagans makes it even easier. Boss fights eventually get quiet boring and repetive...some are just plain stupid, liek the one where you get to fight a giant sentianal...the story is quiet weird...like for example, Gabit is intorduced as a person who think you are after him to take him back to...*SPOILER* wepon X facility. Fights get quiet repetive after a while, as lundgeing is a quickest and best way to get rid of enemies...

If you can see past the bugs and small imprefections...this game is fine..if you like god of war or prince of persia, i recomend this game..(:

Daxter is an amazing game on the PSP with so much to give. From dream modes, to awesome combo moves, to the roaming around the streets on a motorbike, the fun just never stops. Daxter is based on Daxter, obviously, trying to help an old friend destroy bugs in the city. His business is working for the man, and trying to help him keep his business from the evil bug creator. Daxter gives a whole lot of extras like Dream mode, which are basically mini games based on movies like Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, and Braveheart. You can also unlock many extras like hats, masks, and different levels throughout the game. The controls are also very basic, but not super easy. The game gives a challenging, but still fun approach to the game. If you are a die hard adventure/action type of person, Daxter is probably one of the best type of games for that genre out there. And surprisingly like many good games for the PSP, it stays at a low price for only $25 CAN.

POSITIVE:
First of all, the game has amazing graphics! The DUNIA engine that Ubisoft used for this game is fantastic. The map of the game (which represents Africa) is huge, but also very beautiful. The world that you play in is so realistic and it feels like real Africa. There were moments in the game where I just stood still and looked at the sunset, because it was so beautiful. The fire is also one of the best that I have ever seen in games. It looks good and it reacts to the environment like real fire - it spreads and caches other things on fire too! Simply put, the graphics of this game is absolutely fantastic and they not too far away from Crysis.
Next, comes weapons. There are plenty of toys you can play in this game! From pistols to rocket launchers. All the guns are great and different and they are all fun to use. You can carry 3 guns + machete at all times and it is up to you what kind of guns you wanna have. You buy guns using diamonds you earn and if you do enough missions you can buy all the guns in the game (~30 guns total). My favorite was sniper rifle (there are 3 different ones in the game). I always love using sniper rifle in games and in this game I used it a lot! I also for some reason liked uzi. It has high rate of fire for the enemies that come close to me. Also, the weapons degrade and jam after time so you need to change them to new ones.
Lastly, I will mention the immersion of the game and the animations. Ubisoft does really good job with animations (ex. previously with Assassin's Creed) and in this game it shows again. You always are in 1st person no matter what you do. The healing animations are great and kinda sick to watch sometimes. The way weapons jam and you have to unjam them is done very nicely too.

NEGATIVE:
Now we come to the dark side.....tediousness. This game can really become boring at times! Mostly because there is a lot of driving in it. The map is huge and the missions are spread far away. You will be driving from one corner of the map to another for minutes until you reach your destination. However, the good part is that the driving itself is good. The cars feel realistic, even though it seems that enemies have faster cars then you because they always catch up with you.
The driving would not be that bad by itself, but the enemies respawn really quickly and there are those annoying enemies checkpoints at almost every intersection where you have to kill same guys over and over again.
The AI is mostly good in this game, but it is also very tough. Some enemies can take the whole clip of uzi and still no die. WTF? o they have superman powers or what?
The story is boring and kinda stupid. You hunt "The Jackal" by doing boring missions for 2 unions at Africa. The worst part is that you can never become friends with any union because they will still shoot you. I wish they made it more like Mercanaries 2, where you work for several factions and you can become 'friends' with them.
Lastly, the ending of the game was stupid as fu... and made no sense at all...

NBA 09:The Inside, is a great game with tons of extra features exclusively for the PSP, and the PS3. NBA 09, has so many features, it isn't even funny. First of all, there about 20+ mini-games in this game, plus the other 7 or 8 game modes. The mini-games range from bowling and block breaker, to 1 on 1 off the board match-ups, and elimination with awesome power-ups. The game modes are also tremendous, like Franchise mode, which allows you to play with a team for up to 25 seasons, and play as the GM, the coach, or the players. There are also exhibition, and quick play, which are actually the same thing, and there is all-star weekend, where you can play the skills challenge, and the 3 point competition as well. The game play is also really easy to get used to. The controls are very simple, and X's are on top of players, which guide you on who you are passing the ball to. The sound is surprisingly very good as well. I played about 13 seasons in franchise mode, and the rookies that are created virtually, have very weird names. But the commentator pronounces every single name correctly, and never makes a mistake. The music is also very nice, like all NBA games. The graphics are decent, but you can't expect the "great" from just the PSP itself. All in all, NBA 09: The Inside, is probably one of the best sports games for the PSP out there. If you're a b-ball fanatic like me, I would pick this game right away. Not to mention it only costs $25 CAN.

Block Breaker Deluxe is a great game for the moblie, but when you play it on the Wii, it really feels as if your playing on a huge mobile screen. Block Breaker was always a great game, and the amount of levels in the game are just wow. The game is challenging at some points, but it still doesn't go to the level when you start throwing your remote at the tv screen. The controls are pretty annoying though. First of all, I thought the whole motion thing would be good and all, but it was so horrible, so i ended up using manual, but then the game got soo boring. I really just stopped playing after the 3rd world, because it was just getting tooo dragged on. The graphics were also very dissapointing. When i bought the game, i thought that the graphics would be 3D or something, but instead, they put the exact same graphics from the cellphone. Unbeleivable. It's still a good game, but the rest was just 2 thumbs down.

Super Mario Galaxy is an amazing game for the Wii and we haven't really seen good games for the Wii a lot these days. First of all, THE GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING! None of the other Wii games have better quality and detail than this game. The game play is astonishing, but the camera gets a little annoying sometimes when you are running around a planet for example. Another great thing is the co-op mode, where anybody can join at anytime and use another wii mote to collect the star bits when you are fighting somebody else. The enemies are also great, all of the same classics like the goombas, the worms, etc. The level amount is huuuge! There are about 120 stars to collect, so its a real fun packed game. Another great thing is unlocking different worlds like the terrace, the kitchen, etc. The motions for this game are also amazing like the twisting motion for climbing up a vine, or the shaking motion for a spin attack. There are also several power ups throughout the game like fire power up, freeze power up, boo power up etc. This is the best Mario platformer that has ever come out for any system yet!

I was very impressed with Fifa 09 because of it being the second soccer game for the Wii and everything. There are so many pros about this game, the list keeps on going on. First of all, the team selection is huuuuuge! There are so many teams you can chose from from different leagues like the MLS, International, English League etc. Another great thing about the game is that the graphics are amazing for the Wii. If you compare this game to NBA Live 08 and 09 for the Wii, this doesnt even look like the same system!!!! The modes in this game are also great. There is the franchise where you are the gm and the players, and you get to trade, sign, and release different players. There is also an unlockables store where you get points from playing games in franchise and doing other things in the game. You can buy different balls, shoes, and stadiums with these points. I also love the fact that theres a footii mode which is 8 on 8 soccer but all the players are miis you have created or miis that have been created by the computer. And the player miis look hilarious like rooney, renoldinho, and renaldo! Overall i think this game is probably one of the most fun games for the Wii currently.

This was a total waste of $40! I bought this game thinking it would be so amazing with the controls and all the hype about it. I brought it home and started to play and, it sucked. The controls didn't even work properly and the graphics were horrible! The faces that you saw all looked the same. This game doesn't even have a franchise or dynasty mode! What;s the point of getting an NBA LIVE game if you cant even have a dynasty! The dunk competition was also a big waste of time. Instead of creating your own dunks, you had to do what the screen showed, and the instructions were pretty bad! Another thing i want to say about this game is that the modes are so watered down. There's the 3 point competition and the dunk competition and that's it! The only good thing about the game is the soundtrack, so i give kudos for that. I hope NBA Live 09 is waaaaaaay better than this game. Whoever wants to get a good basketball game for the Wii, PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS GAME!

really what was EA thinking releasing this game so early... i mean really i feels like they just held a meeting and said...how can we make peoples lives hard...its like they dont like the movie Godfather...

Good: Its the godfather, Shooting seems easy. most gameplay is alright, almost simlar to the other godfather. Being a don is pure awsomeness. first few hours are great. learning cuve is very very gental if u have played the last godfather. The arsenal youget by the end of the game is awsome. some girls are topless....whatever floats your boat....AI is good at shooting...

Bad: Graphics are dated....very dated....fram rate drops for no reasons what so ever. The clothing selection compaired to the last game i think has surpisingly(in a bad way) decressed. Glitches are a plenty. cars get stuck in mid air when u take a jump. AI have difficulty getting into a car. Multiplayer is....C.R.A.P from the start...theres a glitch where you cant crouch that some spot for some unkown problem. The last godfather is better than this.

I mean really what is EA doing.... seriously....

like the title says, its just different.

Good: Graphics is jaw-dropping. if you have seent he screenshots, you know what i am talking about. its the crysis of RTS's. Multiplayer is great. No building!!!! i am not a RTS kind of guy but i loved this game. i didnt really like World in Conflict but Warhammer was great. The single player is not amazing, there is no real stratgy involved but if you cna get past that problem you will love this game. The 4 races all play very differnetly, not as different as some games like starcraft or warcraft, but they have their differences. collecting loot in single player is quiet rewarding.

Bad: there is no stratgy involed for the most part. there is no building. only 3v3 or 1v1 for now. very few multiplayer matchs. campign story isnt much to brag about. last mission glitch where you cannot continue after you finish the campign. (just a rumor though) the modes of rsingle player is either attack a lot of people then kill a giant as boss, defend a structre(sometimes 3) or go from here to there.

The game is jsut different compaired to the last DOW.
