THE GOOD:

God, there's really no describing it... this game rocks.

* The game-play is absolutely Kick @$$. It can be challenging at times, which helps to make the game even more fun.

* The whole game-play is completely story driven, and makes you feel like you are actually there.

*The many vehicles available, from the zoomers, to leapers, to the tricked out rally-type cars will satisfy your destructive driving needs.

*the guns are really, really fun and will make you crave the next moment you use them to blow stuff up.

*good replay value.

*Side quests that will help improve your driving and shooting skills.

THE BAD:

*the graphics are not really an improvement from Jak II... They added minor details that make it feel more "whole" (such as the scarf and the skirt type thing he wears...) but did nothing much more than that.

*It has an end.... THE DAMN GAME IS SO GOOD IT MAKES YOU YELL:

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!! DONT END!!! I NEED MORE!!!!!"

Wed, 29 Nov 2006 09:50:44 -0800 tmaflux92 reviewed Resident Evil 4 for the PlayStation 2... http://www.gamespot.com/resident-evil-4/user-reviews/392506/platform/ps2/ ...and gave it a 9.0!

I have played through the first three Resident Evils for the original Playstation numerous times. Obvious to say, I loved them. I still do. However, when Code Veronica rolled around, I was just getting bored of the seemingly stale gameplay. Within a few years, RE4 was released... for Gamecube. After months of anxious anticipation, RE4 found it's way to the PS2.

I spent my one month Christmas vacation with this game in my console. I couldnt put it down. It wasnt just a fun game. For once, I was actually challenged. RE4 seems to focus on ammo conservation, stealth tactics, and strategy as opposed to the precented 'Run and Gun'. You are given a certain amount of space to store your weapons and items. You make the majority of your money by pawning items, such as expensive jewelry. RE4 successfully forces you to play the game wisely. While the gameplay may seem tedius and repeatative at times (shoot a zombie. walk into a building. shoot a zombie. walk out of a building.), the action would often climatically pull you out of its dull gameplay by surrounding you with dozens of vicious zombies. You learn to hide and shoot precisely. One major disappointment to me is the inability to strife. I think that may have come in handy when dealing with a group of zombies, but I learned to adapt. The storyline is a continuation to the previous installments, and does justice to the series. The characters and setting were well thought of. I've seen too much of the 'running through a metropolis' scenario and very much appreciated being able to run around Spainish woods, swamps, farmlands, and even a castle. The graphics and sounds are among the most impressive that the PS2 has to offer. Because the game only takes 12-15 hours to complete, RE4 does not overstay it's welcome in your console. And even if it leaves you wanting more, the replay value is very decent compared to other survival horror games. You can play through the game again with the oppurtunities for more powerful weapons, etc. You are also offered a handful of mini-games, such as The Mercenaries which originally appeared on RE3. These mini-games aren't necessarilly anything special, but worth giving a shot.

This game is an exciting addition to any gamer's collection who is appreciative of a relatively challenging survival horror game.

Fun gameplay, an addictive plot, interesting characters, and sometimes challenging battles will keep you entertained for days. As for the graphics and sound, i was very reminiscent of traditional SNES RPGs and early FF games. Not too impressive, but the gameplay easily picks up where the audio and visual lack. Embark on side quests to admit characters such as Cloud into your ranks. Fight alongside chocobos, mages, and warriors. Use the exciting FF magics and weapons. Although it deviates from the tradition Final Fantasy RPGs, this is a success on the behalf of Squaresoft by admitting a more strategy-based game into the FF series. There isnt too much else to say about this game other that it rocks and is well worth the probable $10 you can purchase it for.

"Zombies Ate My Neighbors" is the GTA:San Andreas AND the Halo of the Sega Genesis. No other Genesis game had such heart and original development as this title. You play as either a random teenage boy or girl as you span a massive 50+ levels, picking up random weapons such as a bazooka, popsicles, water guns, plates and silverware to aid you in the eradication of various monsters -- Warewolfs, Zombies, Spiders, Mummies, Aliens, The Creature of the Blue Lagoon -- who threaten to destroy your home town. You explore homes, football fields, neighborhoods, pyramids, deserts, shopping malls, and many other typical scenarios from campy horror movies. As for the Gameplay... For a Genesis game, the graphics and especially the sound were extremely impressive. The gameplay itself was solid! Extremely fun! As previously indicated, this game features over 50 levels, and in addition a couple of bonus levels which are extremely intricate for gaining bonus points. In addition to the many guns you pick up, you also come across many tools, such as blow up clowns, holy hand grenades, and other related paraphernalia that is extremely helpful for stronger enemies or groups. Or just for the sheer pleasure! Controls are easy, and the game itself is presented in an early GTA stylistic birds-eye-view picture. I strongly recommend going out of your way to pick this up if you're fiending for a Classic Genesis game! 9.9/10

Growing up as a huge Ghostbusters fan, getting this game became an intricate part of my childhood. I think i got it on my 5th birthday, and here i am, 14 years later, and its still one of my all time favorites! Play as Ray, Peter, or Egon in a plot developed just for the game. Throw Grenades at Ghosts and collect money to purchase more powerful weapons and tools. Typical scenario for a platformer, but keep in mind that this is one of the originals. Good graphics and good sounds for an early Genesis game accentuated the near-perfect gameplay of a classic! If you can find it, its highly recommended!

Play as Batman, Robin, Nightwing, or Batgirl in this single or multiplayer game. Just like the Lord of the Rings games, you can unlock better fight sequences and harder hits as you earn points while the game progresses to beat up groups of thugs. Terrific graphics, sound and gameplay combine together as you fight the Scarecrow, Bane, Clayface, and more villains in this greatly licensed Batman multi-console game. "Rise of Sin Tzu" takes place throughout the streets of Gotham, in random buildings, and rooftops, and even inside Arkham Asylum. The absolutely most disappointing aspect of the game is derived from the title: Sin Tzu. The worst Batman villain I have ever been exposed to. Mr. Uninteresting has the most typical of superpowers, yes I said superpowers, such as superspeed, invincibility, etc. I would much rather have fought a different villain, preferably one from the comics. Be prepared to be extremely let down at the end of the game while you fight Sin Tzu, but the rest of the game builds up so much momentum and excitement that you wont really care.

I'll make this review short and to the point. The graphics and controls are not necessarily up to par with most of the games in the genre, but the gameplay far surpasses most attempts at random action games. In addition, this is probably the best licensed Batman game, if not second to Rise of Sin Tzu, and that makes it much more pleasing for Batman fans. Based on The Animated Series, Vengeance's villains include Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and everyone's favorite - The Joker. Fight scenes in this game are not dragged out and are rather fun. The Badgadgets you get to toy around with are surprisingly fun, batarangs, batgrapples, you name it, this game has it. A reasonably solid story line featuring the Joker involved in yet another of his diabolical schemes will keep you entertained for a couple of hours. I was quite pleased when I found a copy of this game used for less than $10, and I am sure you will be too.

Tue, 28 Jun 2005 16:07:43 -0700 tmaflux92 reviewed Final Fantasy IX for the PlayStation... http://www.gamespot.com/final-fantasy-ix/user-reviews/163193/platform/ps/ ...and gave it a 9.3!

Final Fantasy 9 was the third game in the series I played, following FF7 and FF8. I spent excessive amounts of hours on both, perfectly everything and enjoying the gaming experiences that Square Soft has given me. After completing FF8, I felt empty, i felt that Squaresoft had released a game that was good, but just uninspired. FF9 had reimbursed my faith in the series. Final Fantasy 9 takes you on an adventure which gives you some rather typical scenarios: Rescue the princess, Fight against the queen, Team up with people who don't really support you, Travel from city to city. But what FF9 does that other RPGs dont is immerses you in a highly addictive plot spanning four discs, challenges you in battles, and gives you enough mini games that would satisfy anyone. I was amazed at how many sidequests this game had to offer, and how much I could be rewarded for by partaking in them. By taking the time to level up and grab new weapons and magic, the battles and gameplay seem easiest and possibly the most rewarding in the entire series. Unlike FF8, the attacks and the magic do major damage with high levels. The time it takes to level up is relatively short, only about 70 hours for me, as compared to the well over 100 hours I spent on FF7. I'm not big on words, so I'll end this review here. After completing many other FF titles, here I am years later, beseeching those FF fans that this game is an absolute must. The storyline is amongst the best in the series, as is the graphics, sound, playability, battle systems, weapons, mini games, etc. Highly recommended for FF and RPG fans, especially seeing as it can be purchased for under $20. To anyone thinking about getting into FF games, FF9 is a good start.....

I was incredibly happy to finally see Batman Begins, i have been waiting for it for about a year and a half, and the movie was more than I could ever ask for. I even received a free Batman Begins promotional poster with the pre-order of the game, which was only $40 and came with a free movie ticket, so how could I go wrong? I... don't really think I did. This game is a blend of some of the various dissapointing aspects of the random action-adventure and super hero games. Its got the levels that dont let you do anything fun or exciting, its got the gadgets and weapons you can only use at certain times, and its got the sometimes annoying and always repeatitive AI. On the plus side, the game is not too hard, its pretty easy to get into because it is not one of the more stressful games, and it stays relatively on track with the movie. Throughout the course of the game, you also unlock various interviews the cast, clips, and previews of the film. If you're a Batman fan, I would recommend this game, but I would suggest checking out Rise of Sin Tzu and Vengeance first. If you're looking for a good action-adventure, this probably wont do it for you, but it may hold you over for a few days. Definately worth a rental, maybe not worth $40, but then again, I did get a sweet poster and a free ticket to see the movie again.
