The game Fall of Cybertron takes place after the first game that tells the ending of the war between the Autobots and Decipticons. You take control of both sides and getting a deeper perspective from both sides.
There is a multiplayer in this game that has a progression system. There are also several classes to choose from enabling the player to explore more than one way to play.

The Bad:
There is a certain level that totally has a harder difficulty then the others. This is totally different then any of the other levels. The enemies are way harder, and more then the other levels. It also gives you little oppertunity to get more health and ammo. Making it hard even on normal and easy diffuculty. This is something the developer should have taken notice before launching it or fixing it after release.
The campaign is also a little on the short side. There is also little replaybility to the campaign other than trying to get achievments or trying to do it on harder difficulty. It is a shame it is so short, because the story is actually pretty good. Feeling they could have explored the game more with characters. The characters have little screen time other than the many known ones.

The Good:
Even though the story is short and not fully using the potential some of the stories could have had, it is by no chance bad. The story is really well paced and has enough actions and cutscenes to immerse the player in the experience.
The characters are colorful and well written. You never feel dull in the singleplayer experience. With funny and serious moments through the whole campaign makes it a really great game. Great characters and great story.
The gameplay itself is really solid. With a heavy gun and light gun and special abilities for each of the characaters. Examples are Stealth that gives you the ability to actually sneak up on enemies. The really great thing about this is that the level design actually makes you benefit when you use the ablities and it doesn't feel forced in any of them and go with them without any problem. This makes the gameplay even more diverse and giving players more variation. The player can also transform into a vehicle that makes the gameplay even greater, leaving the player to choose either form and playing as you see fit. Some stages in each level might be better to use in one or the other form. They never feel forced and gives the player the option to play how they want. The player also gets to upgrade weapons, perks, abilities, buying perks, etc. And gives a sense of depth to game.
The multiplayer is really good and gives the player the choice of making the robots to look how they want, giving them different weapons and in the end a lot of choice how they want to play it. There was no issue with lag when i played this.
The graphics has its own style and does stand out to the eye. It really is amazing at times. Especially when looking at cities and the horizon of large buildings. Just showing how great the world looks like.
The voice acting is really good. They really bring the characters to life and brining old actors back from the animated series is also a great plus for fans of the series. The guns sound also really authentic and makes you want to shoot a robot right in the face with great results.
Overall
With players given the choice between abilities, lots of weapons, transforming, great story and just a lot of choice for the player. The story might be linear, but they player gets to choose how they want to play. It never truly feels like you are just passing through and actually experiencing a greay game. If you can look past a few flaws, it is a really great game to have in your library

Sun, 12 May 2013 14:12:36 -0700 The_Last_Ride reviewed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PlayStation 3... http://www.gamespot.com/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2/user-reviews/811234/platform/ps3/ ...and gave it a 7.5.

Modern Warfare 2 continues the campaign and the pushes the franchise forward in the modern setting even further. The multiplayer returns as we are used to in the series.
Spec Ops is a nice change of pace making Co-Op avaliable over internet and locally. This mode contains of waves of enemies coming against you and trying to survive with a friend on your side. There are three difficulties for each map, and you are able to test your skills how much you can plan and use skills to get through the waves of enemies.
The multiplayer is also back with new perks, weapons, and levels. This time around there are 10 prestiges to do. If someone wants a real challenge and try to level up again 10 times with all the challenges and weapons, it's a nice change of pace.
The Bad:
The singleplayer is as forgetable as ever. The player takes control over several persons through the campaign and gets you a perspective of things. This had worked, if the story had some sort of depth. But all it really is, is a shallow attempt at an action movie. Some might also be shocked from the infamous airport level, but this game is also labeled as mature. The plot tries to take itself seriously, but when you eventually see plot twists coming from a mile away and all of the levels being very linear. When i mean linear, it's basicly either a stand off trying to survive enemies, escort missions, corridor shooting or simple running from A to B. There are no alternative ways to actually engage the enemy when the actual fire begins. Everything is control with smaller quick time events and very scripted events through the whole story. There are no alternate ways to play the levels. There are intel packs to be collected in each level, but there is barely any exploring. It does not give the player any creativity when it comes to the gameplay itself. The whole singleplayer is basicly just point and shoot with cinematics explosions with forgetable dialogue and characters.

The graphics on the console aren't as good as the pc counterpart, and it shows if you have seen the pc version. Some framerate issues can be seen on the console version.

The Good:
The gameplay is very solid, making tweaks to make it more solid. The gameplay mechanics really shine through in the multiplayer where you can choose your own weapons and perks to your liking and play the way you really want to. The multiplayer has enough depth and options to give the players of this game a good reason to play it.

The sound of the gun mechanics and the game itself are solid, and don't have any real flaws. The guns sound good enough to make the player believe the gun sounds coming out of the actual guns when shooting them.

Spec Ops gives the player also a reason to try out the Co-Op part of the game with several difficulties. Makes it possible to have a friend locally or over internet to play with you. These levels are well designed and could give players that want to explore this part of the game much fun to be had.

Even though most of the singleplayer is plain, the voice actors make it relevant to even take notice of these shallow characters. Making them believable and humane. If there is anything that is good about the singleplayer it would be the voice acting, even though the story and the way the character progress is really shallow.

Overall:
It's a good multiplayer game for those that want either a Co-Op experience or a massive online expeience, then this should be in your collection. But if you want to get this game for it's singleplayer, you should stay away from it. Because it has nothing of depth in there or even worth exploring.

Tue, 07 May 2013 08:26:26 -0700 The_Last_Ride reviewed Assassin's Creed III for the Xbox 360... http://www.gamespot.com/assassins-creed-iii/user-reviews/811091/platform/xbox360/ ...and gave it a 8.0.

In this sequel to the Assassin's Creed games, we visit early colonial America. It starts with Haytham Kenway and him making his way to the new America to search for where his relics may be of use. He is also searching for clues left behind by Minerva and Juno that both Assassin's and Templars are looking for. This part of the story is very linear and serves as an origin story. There is a little plot twist after you are done with his story. After a few hours in you take over Connor, Kenway's son and continue the story from there.
There is a new setting setting in this game never shown before with the forest and animals being a part of the game. Hunting and skinning animals are also part of the game. This game does not have any upgrades when it comes to the home where the character is settled.
The whole setting takes the whole american revolution and takes the fictional characters such as Haytham and Connor and puts them right in the middle of them. They also have real characters such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and other known persons from that era.
The gameplay and combat itself has been changed a little bit. The counter system has been worked on and needs more timing than before. This can make confronting larger more challenging

The bad:
Something that sticks out right away after the beginning is that guards recognize you immediately if you just have one on your notorious level. You get recognized faster when you are on rooftops, it does not give you any incentive to actually climb the houses in the cities of New York and Boston. The posters for you to get noticed less is even removed from your map entirely making it harder for you to lose your character getting noticed by guards.

The modern part of the story also has a bigger role in this, which isn't bad. But the sour note the game. With the game ending on the biggest cliffhanger in the entire Assassin's Creed series. The other ones in the series, might not have a a real ending except for Revelations ending Ezio's and Altairs story. They just leave one big question mark and break the entire series with such a an ending. It will be a big dissapointment for those that have played all of the games and might even anger some.

The new homestead isn't upgradable and doesn't really give you any incentive to go deeper. It gives you more story to some characters if you are invested in the game and want a little more story to it. Some are interesting, but they consist mostly of fetch quests and mostly consist you doing the same with helping them with something they can't do themselves. They can be really tedious to do if you can't get invested in the characters. The upgrades and shipments you do with the homestead are pretty much useless and doesn't really give any depth to the game. Looking at the result of this design decision it is not clear what was suppose to be the meaning of this whole system.

The counter system doesn't always respond the way you want it to, and get often hit even though the timing is good.

The good:
The graphics of this game are a really big upgrade to the previous games in the series, and it is really stunning to watch, wether it is the cutscenes or exploring the world. It is truly beautiful to look at.

The characters of this story are strong, some might be used to the idea of a character of the likes of Ezio and Altair. They have to keep in mind that this is a whole new character, with his own story and problems. The voice acting is great, and give depth to the characters and the story itself. Even though that i have mentioned that the "modern" ending for the game ends on a big cliffhanger, doesn't mean that this game doesn't have a good story. Connors and Haytham's story through this game is really good and worth experiencing.

The audio and sound effects are well made and the mood it sets when traveling in the forest is really important, could have felt really empty if this wasn't case.

The gameplay has also improved. The climbing has never been this fun, even though the game does not give you any real incentive to actually climb and explore the rooftops because of troops, doesn't mean the mechanics for it are bad. Far from it, it's never been this much fun to actually climb which is really sad when the notorious system undermines this mostly.
The combat is more realistic and requires the user to time the counters more, it can be really fun when have a few opponents and really dominate them, but when you have several enemies against you it can work against you.

Overall this is a mixed bag, there is enough though to actually play this game, even though some might be dissapointed with this being the biggest and best in the series, it is far from being a bad game. It is worth a shot if you are an Assassin's Creed fan, but also keep in mind, this might not be the overall best game. I did not encounter many bugs in my Xbox version, but that doesn't mean this is free of bugs and glitches.

In this game we catch up with Ezio where he travels to the east and explore new area of the world. We see a very mature Ezio compared to the others, and we notice he is more patient and he has become older. In this new game he starts with basicly new sleight and leaves everyone from Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. New characters and targets are the focus to refuse the templars to take over this beautiful new city and kingdom. The mechanics are what you are used to in earlier games of the earlier games. It has more upgrades as found in the two earlier games and you are still able to conquer areas and buy shops to upgrade the gear and get more money. This game also introduces bombs which you can use as decoys, distractions and as weapons.

The Bad:
The bad thing that sticks out, is that this game is more of the same and doesn't really have any big new update avaliable for it. There is no graphics update for it, it looks a little better than the others, but doesn't have any real new update. It also lacks in variety when it comes to new missions, they will seem familiar to old players

The Good:
The gameplay has been refined and his better than ever with. New animations and better combat gives it the best combat system to date in the series. The upgrades for the weapon is just as good as the previous game, and doesn't ruin it, but introdouces some new weapons in it instead of just copy and pasting.

The underground puzzles are actually more fun and very well done this time around. They have a total new feel and it's not the same slow paced platform puzzles as the last ones in the series. These are more fun in the sense that you just run through them as fast as possible trying to reach your targets in some of them. The bombs also make for a nice new addition to make the gameplay more dynamic and trying to do something new.

The story starts with a bang, but goes slowly after the first sequence and slowly builds up. This game may lack supporting characters that Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood, but having Altair and fewer stronger characters in this game is refreshing. This game is probably the most heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time in the series. It's a really well told story of both Ezio and the flashbacks of Altair. It's a worthy ending to both Ezio and Altair, and it truly shows us how great of characters those two are.

The setting doesn't have the same flair as the two earlier games in the series, but it's beautiful to look at. It has also challenges for the player to explore as much as the earlier games.

A great technical racing game with the F1 licence. This game is an excellent example of how you use your licence exactly how it is suppose to be used. The Formula 1 has several modes where you can get a challenge out of the game. There is the Proving Grounds, Champions Mode and the Career modes to explore.
Proving grounds is a good way to casual players to be introduced to the game. Championship Mode gives the player a challenge by going against the biggest stars in challenges to beat them. Career mode has the regular mode to be expected out of a career mode. Where the player progresses and gets contracted to the bigger teams and trying to get to the top.
The bad:
The presentation of the game seems generic and has no personality to it. There is a certain slick look to it, but it doesn't really say a lot about the game.
The game can be very punishing for those that aren't very experienced with the game. If you make a mistake it can cost you dearly if you aren't careful. The tutorial does introduce you to the game and what is in it, but it is very short and doesn't have a lot of depth for new players in the series. There is also not a lot of help for newcomers how to tune the car or go deeper. But that can be explored if you have patience and play the game a lot. Experienced players won't have a hard time here.
The Good:
The racing experience might be the most technical in the racing genre to date. If you handle the car right and know what to do with it, then there is a lot of reward for the player and the game will become just plain fun to play.
All of the modes can give you enough challenge for some time, and if you don't find that challenging enough, there is always the option to turn assists off.
The online part of the game is really strong, and can be quite fun. There is no issue with lag spikes in the game, unless the player has a shady internet connection.
The gameplay is solid in every way, though it can take time to get quite the hang of things. It will be fun when you can master tracks and corners on tracks like the stars.
The sound is also magnificent to hear when you play. The roar of the engine is magnificent to hear and really gives life to the game
It's a great game overall, might be a little tough for newcomers. But if you spend some time with the game it is a game to be enjoted for racing lovers.

Fri, 19 Apr 2013 18:57:46 -0700 The_Last_Ride reviewed Tomb Raider for the PlayStation 3... http://www.gamespot.com/tomb-raider/user-reviews/810436/platform/ps3/ ...and gave it a 9.5!

Tomb Raider has a whole new take on Lara Croft and her adventures. It starts with a young version of Lara Croft shipwrecked on a mysterious island and she finds herself lost and captured by a bunch of mystics that worships an ancient goddess.
The Bad:
If there is anything bad about it it would be that the multiplayer seems tacked on and isn't really necessary for the game. Even though the multiplayer has some potential it has too few modes and variety to make it compete with other multiplayer games in the action genre.
The Good:
The story is great, it's not over the top, but has some sci-fi elements to it. It's a perfect balance and make Lara really stand out. The other characters are great and support Lara making this a strong story. But in the end it is Lara's story, she really stands out and it shows her struggle and courage through the entire game. The pacing of the game is also really good. You don't start out guns blazing, but has a carefully thought beginning. It starts slowly and then goes deep into what the island is and who Lara really is. She seems scared and vulnerable at first, but her courage is huge and really makes Lara a strong character.
The gameplay is really strong and you can upgrade weapons and skills that make the way you play and your tools more effective as you progress through the game. It is deep enough to explore and have fun with. The puzzles through the game can be very challenging to some, and you might have to search the net for some walkthroughs. In the end they can also be done with patience and a little thought.
The island has really it's own life and brings life to the game with animals and it's own mystisism. The different areas are really well thought out and sometimes just looking at the view of the island can be stunning.
The graphics are really stunning. Just looking at the ocean or hunting deer, it is a really beautiful game and it shines through that the style they went for this game.
The voiceover for all the characters and Lara are top notch and gives more life to Lara and her fellow crew members and the island itself. It also gives all of the characters more credibility and makes the story better overall.
The audio is spot on and doesn't too much and doesn't too little to make anything overly dramatic, but doesn't overlook anything either.
If you like Action games, and a little more adult take on the Tomb Raider series it is a must have.

This game takes Ezio to Rome and goes deeper in to the story of the Borgias. The story this time around is a little shorter, but has all the supporting characters that were helping Ezio in his first game.

The bad:
The recipe hasn't changed much since Assassin's Creed 2 and will seem very familiar to some that might expect something entirely new. It doesn't really do anything revolutionary compared to what happened between Assassin's Creed 1 and 2. It doesn't make anything major new to the game. There isn't a lot of depth in the new assassin training system.

there are some framerate issues here and there that can be noticable and some minore bugs when climbing.

The good:
First of all, the story is really really good. Though the story might be shorter, it is still very good. You also have more to do when it comes to upgrades, training assassins and buying shops, collecting Flags, getting Romulus keys, assassinations, etc.
Exploring Tombs is something that was tedious work in Assassin's Creed 2, where the was little to no variation. This has been improved in Brotherhood. Upgrading shops has even more to it, then the last game, and if the player wants to explore this side of the game it has more depth than in the second game in the series.
Assassinating Captains gives you a challenge to get more upgrades, shops, landmarks and viewpoints in the game that makes the player play a little different. Training Assassins can be fun to explore and is a great new feature. Giving you help when needed in certain missions. There is still a lot to do in the game. Everything the game does new and old is refined. Mechanics that were annoying or tedious in the last game have been made to actually be exciting. As en example of that; parkour is more fun than ever and the game has constantly something to do for you wether it is just following the main story or for you to explore Rome with Ezio.

The story is still as good as every game in the series and keeps on having a strong support cast in this game. The story of betrayal and the suffering that Ezio still has to go through with losing family is still strong in this game, and keeps him going as a character.

The setting is as good as the last game, giving it warmth and a huge game to explore with either climbing known places or just watching how beautiful this game really is.

The graphics is still beautiful to look at, and the city sure takes care of that. Even though the engine for this game hasn't been updated, it is still a pretty game to look at

If you want this game to have a drastically change to the mechanics and story, then this is probably something not for you. But if you want a refined game that refines everything and does it very well.

Sun, 24 Mar 2013 13:02:23 -0700 The_Last_Ride reviewed Assassin's Creed II for the PlayStation 3... http://www.gamespot.com/assassins-creed-ii/user-reviews/809311/platform/ps3/ ...and gave it a 9.5!

Assassin's Creed continues the story of Desmond exploring his ancestors in the Animus. The story this time takes place in Italy. Where you meet known persons like Leonardo Da Vinci and other significant important historic characters.

The bad:
There are some issues with the framerates at some locations which can be very annoying. Camera angles and controls can be frustrating when climbing in certain areas or scenario's. AI can seem to see through walls or just keep hunting you longer than they should be able to at some points. Glitch that made me assassinate a target without even doing something(therefore completing the mission without even doing it).

The Good:
The story is very well done and built up over time in this game. We see Ezio from birth to arrogant teenager rebel to an adult assassin. The story has strong characters in both villains and sidekicks. Ezio also shines on his own. His loss of family and gaining a new identity as an Assassin is something very important to the story. Seing this character grow up and dealing with issues of loss and morale choices makes the character strong and believable.

The gameplay has been changed and tuned. Everything about the first game which concerns combat, quests, sidequests crafting, etc. They have managed to make a much better game than the previous one in all aspects. The free climbing and synchronizing towers have never been this much fun. It's pretty much effortless and fun to climb them. It can also be more challenging trying to climb towers, churches etc. The so called Scroll of Romulus lairs can be challenging puzzles to solve. It also gives a slower pace to the game and can be great to explore if you want to. These are optional for players off course.

You can explore the world to a much bigger degree also where you can have races, contracts to do hits on specific targets outside the main quests, hunting codex pages, upgrading your armor and improve on your city.
The graphics have also a distinct artstyle and shines through more in this game where you travel to Venice, Florence and Tuscany. The sites can be quite beautiful to look at and all the cities and location all have their own character to give to the game.

It has a lot to offer, and if you ignore the small imperfections you will have a blast playing this game. It's a lot better than the second game, and if you enjoyed the second a little bit or just enjoy action games in general you should try this game out

Heroes: Might & Magic 3 is a great game in a fantasy setting where you can play a campaign or just have a fun skirmish by yourself or with buddies and just have a great time. The game has a turn based battle systen and good economic system for you to manage.
The bad:
The battles can be somewhat repetative in some points. Some of factions are a little unevenly balanced. For instance is Conflux majorly underpowered from all the factions. Inferno also has some balance issues concerning starters and middle level guys
The Good:
Everything about this game is sublime. The faction are pretty well balanced and there are enough factions for you to choose from and heroes to use. There are many mythic creatures you can take to your liking. Tactics, army building, economic and managing heroes with them. It has very strategic pieces in it that makes the game stand out and worth playing. The battles are great and the progression making your hero better when you win battles or find chests with xp. This can be both strategically good or bad relying on one hero only. If you loose this hero, he is gone for good and all the progression is gone. The game can be brutally hard and fair at the same time. This game is what future games should take a note from in the turn based fantasy genre.

This is the first game where you take part of the Assassin's Creed where the goal is to fight power grabbing individuals that brainwash people. You play as the character Alltair. Who is an Assassin in a order who has to redeem himself after doing himself and others wrong and start from scratch to regain honor.
The bad:
The gameplay suffers from clunky and doesn't always work at times. The blending function is also clunky making you blend in to the crowd making you choose not a route chosen by you. The fighting can also be very tedious at times and is just not that great. The quests are basicly the same through the whole game, the only way to get some variety is to do the sidequests. The alert system also seems to be lacking a deeper function.
The good:
The parkour is stellar in the game, and does very much right here. It is truly fun to run over rooftops and just have plain fun doing that. The story is also very good and has strong characters all the way. The voice over is good and makes them believable characters.

I would say it's a good story with great freerunning, but with quests and combat that is very repetative

The plot is set in a fictional history of real world events and follows the centuries old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for free will, and the Templars, who desire control over mankind. The framing story is set in the 21st century and features series protagonist Desmond Miles who, with the aid of a machine known as the Animus, relives the memories of his ancestors to find a way to avert the 2012 apocalypse. The story proper is set in the 18th century, before, during and after the American Revolution from 1753 to 1783, and follows Desmond's half-English, half-Mohawk ancestor, Ratonhnhaké:ton (pron.: /ˈrəduːnˈhəɡeɪduːn/; "Ra-doon-ha-gay-doon"), also known as Connor, as he fights the Templars' attempts to gain control of the newly forming nation.

Assassin's Creed III is set in an open world and presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on using Desmond and Connor's combat and stealth abilities to eliminate targets and explore the environment. Connor is able to freely explore 18th-century Boston, New York and the American frontier to complete side missions away from the primary storyline. The game also features a multiplayer component, allowing players to compete online to complete solo and team based objectives including assassinations and evading pursuers. Ubisoft developed a new game engine, Anvil Next, for the game. The game was met with positive reviews and has sold 12 million copies worldwide.

On February 28, 2013, Ubisoft announced a sequel to the game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The game follows the series' standard level-based gameplay during the 21st century, as well as the open world gameplay set in 18th-century colonial America. The player has access to a huge wilderness known as the Frontier (which is 1.5 times bigger than Rome in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood), the cities of Boston and New York; portions of the Eastern Seaboard and Caribbean Sea can be explored via the flagship of the Assassin's navy, the Aquila, captained by Connor himself, with Robert Faulkner his first-mate advising and teaching him in the ways of the sea.

Free running has been simplified to allow for more fluid parkour in the cities and wilderness, such as climbing and running on trees, mountains, cliffs, etc. Close combat has been modified, allowing Connor to dual-wield weapons and take down multiple opponents at once and players no longer need to manage the lock-on mechanic. Aiding this, Connor has access to a wide range of weapons which include muskets, pistols, native weapons such as the tomahawk and bow and arrow, a rope dart (used to pull foes or hang them, while on a tree) as well as the hidden blades. Human shields can be used against firing lines of enemies. Medicine is no longer used as health recovers automatically. Stealth is also revamped, allowing players to use natural elements such as tall grass and trees to hide, along with the ability to blend between any two people.

Assassin's Creed III features new weather simulations such as snow, fog, and rain. The seasons can also change i.e., Summer and Winter, which not only effect visuals but also gameplay, as the player will find running slower in deep snow. Snowfall can reduce visibility for the player and enemies, aiding stealth. Unlike the past games, this one includes animals varying from domestic (horses, cows, dogs) to wild (deer, wolves, bears). The wild ones are found in the Frontier, and can be hunted for meat or marrow in order to be sold. The quality of the kill determines the price, encouraging the player to hunt silently. For this, traps and bait can also be used.

Economy is now based on the Davenport Homestead, which also acts as Connor's adopted home. The site can be visited by people such as carpenters, tailors etc. suffering from displacement due to the war. Helping and interacting with these non-player characters (NPCs) will encourage them to settle in the Homestead. From there on, the player can craft various items and trade with them, and then sell the goods to the cities via caravan. The player can also help them build relationships with each other, which will then result in the formation of a small village. The player can also upgrade the Homestead manor as well as Connor's ship, the Aquila.

A revamped version of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's recruitment feature returns as players can enlist citizens to the Assassins' cause by completing "Liberation" missions. They also have a much larger skill set, which allows them to start a riot, provide a covert escort, act as a personal bodyguard etc. Other side missions include collecting Almanac pages, exploring underground tunnels to locate fast-travel stations, joining hunting and fighting clubs, investigating frontiersman rumours about UFOs and Sasquatch, "peg-leg" missions in which Connor goes to underground forts and wastelands to uncover the legend of Captain Kidd's treasure, and others.

Assassin's Creed III also features naval expeditions. Using Connor's warship, the Aquila, the player can navigate the high seas. Control of the ship relies on environmental factors such as wind direction and speed, local presence of storms, high waves, and rocks. Engagements are by cannon, with broadsides covering both flanks of the ship, and swivel guns that can be used to damage smaller ships which can also be boarded to find treasure. The Aquila is used in the side missions known as "Privateer missions" and is also used in some of the main missions.

The Wii U version of the game has extra features. The player has the ability to change weapons on the go and the map is always visible on the Wii U Gamepad. The Wii U version also supports Off TV Play. With this feature enabled, the main screen is redirected to the Wii U Gamepad.Work on Assassin's Creed III began in January 2010 (almost immediately after the release of Assassin's Creed II) by a senior team of Ubisoft developers. The title has been in development for two and a half years and has the longest development cycle since the first Assassin's Creed.[19][verification needed] When Ubisoft first revealed Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood in 2010, as new details came to light, there was some confusion within the gaming community as to whether this would be Assassin's Creed III. According to the developers, Brotherhood was not Assassin's Creed III, and the third installment will not star a "pre-existing character."[verification needed] Ubisoft Montreal's developers stated in their interviews that Assassin's Creed III will be released eventually.

Jean-Franéois Boivin of Ubisoft also stated that each numbered title in the series will introduce a new lead character and a new setting.[verification needed] Patrice Désilets, former series' creative director, said that the series has always been planned as a trilogy. He also commented on the story of Assassin's Creed III, saying that it will focus on Assassins' quest to prevent the end of the world in 2012, and their race against time to find temples and Apples of Eden built by "Those Who Came Before". Desmond will be searching for clues as to the locations of these temples, by exploring memories of one (or more) of his other ancestors.[verification needed]

In October 2011 Alexandre Amacio, creative director of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, announced that the next installment of the franchise was to be released before December 2012, however, Amacio himself would not be directing the game.[verification needed] This comes from the idea that Desmond Miles, the modern day protagonist of the series, was to finish his tale by December 2012. Amacio said that gamers should not have to play a futuristic game after the time period in which it is set.

Multiplayer returns in this installment by Ubisoft Annecy. Along with returning modes, new ones feature a co-operative mode named Wolfpack, in which 2-4 players are charged with killing certain NPCs within a time limit, through a sequence of 25 stages. It also features Domination, a team mode where players will have to capture certain areas of the map, protecting them from the opposing team.Following the events of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, series' protagonist Desmond Miles and his assassin allies have traveled to the Grand Temple of "Those Who Came Before", an ancient race of powerful beings who created humankind before a global calamity thousands of years before the events of the game made them almost extinct and ravaged the Earth. To find the key to activate the temple and prevent the imminent recurrence of the global disaster in 2012, Desmond uses the Animus, a device that allows him to view the memories of his ancestors, to explore the life of his 18th century ancestor in Colonial America during the American Revolution; a young, half-English, half-Mohawk man named Ratonhnhaké:ton, also known as Connor, whose father is Grand Master of the Templar Order in the colonies. Connor is caught up in the Assassins' conflict with the Templar order when his Native American village is attacked by the Templars, who intend to seize control of the newly forming country.

Connor's story spans two decades of his life, from his childhood in 1760 to 1783. Boston and New York are cities that can be explored, as well as the American Colonial Frontier, spanning forest, cliffs, rivers, Connor's Mohawk village, and the settlements of Lexington, Concord and Charlestown. The player can hunt small and large animals, and approximately one third of the story takes place in the Frontier. The city of Philadelphia can also be visited at one point during the game, as can The Caribbean during a naval mission. The entire Eastern seaboard is also explorable via Connor's captaining his naval warship, the Aquila.Assassin's Creed III received generally positive reviews, with most critics praising the visuals, story, combat style, hunting mechanics and Homestead system, while some complained about the game's glitches. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic gave the PlayStation 3 version 85.77% and 86/100,[86][90] the Xbox 360 version 84.81% and 84/100,On November 14, 2012, Ubisoft reassured that the PC version of Assassin's Creed III will launch with fewer bugs than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. A new patch was in the works to squash glitches on all versions. It was the second title update for the game following a meaty patch available day-one. The PC launch came with both of these patches included.[118] After two days, Ubisoft detailed the sizable patch scheduled for release across the major platforms. This extensive patch was designed to address a list of around one hundred identified bugs present within the single-player campaign and online multiplayer modes plaguing the player experience. Some of the problems outlined involve substantial environmental instability, severe NPC technical issues, occasional console crashes and various issues involving sound synchronization amongst others. the Wii U version 83.00% and 85/100, and the PC version 80.75% and 80/100.

IGN gave the game a score of 8.5/10, saying "It achieves so much that you can't help but respect it, no other open world game has ever given us a setting that's as impressive to observe or as full of things to do as this". They did however say "Not everything about the game gels together convincingly and the missions' unnecessary prescriptiveness sometimes undermines the sense of freedom that the rest of the game works so hard to create".

GameSpot gave a similar review, stating "It takes chances with its opening, with its story, and with its characters. It expands the series' gameplay in enjoyable and sensible ways. As with many ambitious games, not every arrow fired hits the bull's eye, yet this big, narratively rich sequel is easy to get invested in" and gave a score of 8.5/10.

Game Informer awarded the game 9.5/10, saying "Assassin's Creed III delivers everything the series has promised, and throws in a little more for good measure... Most players will likely spend the first six hours of Assassin's Creed III wrapping their heads around the profound size and ambition of the game".

G4 felt that "Assassins Creed III is not perfect... But there is so much story, so much multiplayer, and so much stuff to do that your average 10 hour game should be terribly ashamed of itself".

Official Xbox Magazine gave it 8.5/10, and said "[Its] newly refined gameplay and incredibly rich setting are captivating stuff... It improves on the underlying Assassin's Creed formula in a handful of subtle but tangible ways... And its unwavering commitment to storytelling is both rare and impressive". They did however criticize, "Pacing problems which can drag the campaign into busy-work tedium".

PC Gamer was more critical, giving the game a 72/100 and stating that Assassin's Creed III had "Entertaining storytelling and fantastic naval combat marred by terrible mission design and endemic feature creep" The reviewer felt that homesteading detracted from the central theme and story, and narrowly-scripted optional objectives punished players for thinking laterally. "It's about pattern recognition rather than creative thought, binary reactions with no room for life or dynamism."

Assassin's Creed III was nominated for six awards in the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards: Game of the Year, Best Xbox 360 Game, Best PS3 Game, Best Action Adventure Game, Best Graphics, and Character of the Year (Connor).GameTrailers awarded Assassin's Creed 3 Best Action-Adventure Game of the Year 2012 while Game Revolution named Assassin's Creed III its Game of the Year 2012. For the 2013 D.I.C.E. Interactive Achievement Awards, the game won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Animation and was nominated for Adventure Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design. Assassin's Creed III also received four Game Developer's Choice Awards nominations for Best Audio, Best Narrative, Best Technology, and Game of the Year.

Sun, 24 Feb 2013 14:56:55 -0800 masterpinky2000 reviewed Far Cry 3 for the PlayStation 3... http://www.gamespot.com/far-cry-3/user-reviews/807952/platform/ps3/ ...and gave it a 9.0!

Ubisoft Montreal is arguably this gaming generation's signature contrarian. While other games have become exceedingly linear, and shooters in particular have grown into very short, episodic affairs -- the Call of Duty series is emblematic of this trend -- Ubisoft has consistently eschewed this model of gamemaking in favor of open-world designs that give the user a more varied, richer single-player experience. As Assassin's Creed II is to Uncharted 2, so Far Cry 3 is to Call of Duty.

Far Cry 3's ambition is not solely confined to its structure, however. The game features a storyline that is substantially deeper than in other games, with themes ranging from insanity and madness to the geopolitics of drugs and the slave trade. In many ways, this closely resembles the team's previous effort in Far Cry 2, in which you hunted a psychopathic mercenary through Africa in a storyline meant to recall Heart of Darkness. Here, the literary inspiration is Alice in Wonderland, a novel that is quoted during certain transitional loading screens throughout the game, and which underscores the themes of madness, surrealism, and unreality that permeate the game's long narrative. The story is not without its faults; the tribal warriors who are your allies throughout the game are painfully stereotyped as primitive, mystical, clad in their animal furs and bedecked in face paint and tattoos. But overall, the game at least tries to be somewhat serious, and it's a testament to the writers that it succeeds in part.

Far Cry 3 is perhaps best described as an open-world combat-puzzle game. Unlike the Call of Duty model of moving forward as quickly as possible in order to see the next grand finale of explosions and "surprise" twists, this game lets you move at your own pace. Almost every combat scenario presents you with some sort of defended structure or location that you must unlock with stealth, long-range sniping or archery, or with guns ablazing. How you approach these challenges is up to you, although I found that the game heavily favors the stealth or sniper player over the "heavy." In particular, when attacking outposts, there are alarms that the guards can sound to bring in reinforcements -- which often doubles or triples the number of enemies you have to kill. Thus, the best strategy is usually to sneak around and kill enough enemies so that you can deactivate the alarms. Only then is it a viable option to pop out of hiding and lay waste to the remaining foes.

The open world, like that in Assassin's Creed, also offers some interesting optional side quests. For instance, there are radio towers -- essentially the equivalent of the towers or vantage points in the Assassin's Creed series -- which unlock more and more of the global map. You must climb these towers to activate them. In addition, there are enemy outposts to conquer, hunting quests, and assassination missions. To say that the game takes an idea or two from Assassin's Creed would be putting it lightly, as everything that worked well in that series has been imported into this game, with the only major change being that you do it in first person now rather than third.

Overall, I highly recommend this game. For those who enjoyed Far Cry 2 but were intensely frustrated by its flaws, you will find that Far Cry 3 improves on almost every aspect of its predecessor. For those who want an open-world shooter rather than a corridor-slaughter-fest, this is the game for you. And for those who want to see an action game attempt an ambitious storyline, this game is . . . well, you get the idea.

Fri, 22 Feb 2013 22:26:27 -0800 harsh1234567890 reviewed Crysis 3 for the PC... http://www.gamespot.com/crysis-3/user-reviews/807872/platform/pc/ ...and gave it a 8.0.

Crysis 3 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek, published by Electronic Arts for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 released in North America on February 19, 2013. Inadvertently revealed by Electronic Arts in April 2012, the game is the third main installment of the Crysis series, a sequel to the 2011 video game Crysis 2, and will run on the CryEngine 3 game engine. It is one of the most anticipated upcoming games of 2013. Crysis 3 has won PC Gamer Most Valuable Game, Game Informer Best of Show and Electric Playground Best of E3 awards.
Players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York in 2047, 24 years after the events of Crysis 2. He discovers the city has been encased in a giant Nanodome created by the corrupt C.E.L.L. corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders..
After Crysis 2 received some criticism from many PC gamers because of the apparent design sacrifices made due to the limitations of the older console hardware, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli stated that the PC version of Crysis 3 will figuratively "melt down PCs" due to its highest image quality system requirements. The PC version of the game will require a DirectX 11 compatible video card and operating system. Crysis 3 will utilize some of the newest features of CryEngine 3, such as displacement mapping, particle and volumetric fog shadows, improved dynamic cloth and vegetation, dynamic caustics, improved area lighting and diffuse shadows. Some of these advanced features will only be seen in the PC version with the game's highest image quality settings enabled.

A closed alpha version of the multiplayer was released to selected MyCrysis and Origin users on October 31, 2012. The map "Museum" and the game mode "Crash Site" were playable in the alpha version. The test began on November 2 and ended on November 9, 2012. A public multiplayer beta containing two maps ("Museum" and "Airport") and two game modes ("Crash Site" and "Hunter") was available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 console platforms, as well as for the PC through Origin.

The beta was made available on January 29, 2013 and ended on February 12, 2013. Crytek and EA announced that 3 million people participated in the beta.
After the events of Crysis 2, Prophet's personality stored in Nanosuit assimilates and take control over Alcatraz body in due course of time. Together with Psycho and a team of elite soldiers, he travels around the world looking for the Alpha Ceph from the knowledge he gained during the events at Lingshan. One by one his team loses interest in the hunt believing all Ceph are destroyed, until Prophet and Psycho finally traces the Alpha Ceph in Russia and incapacitate it. However,CELL disables Prophet by powerful K-volts in Siberia and captures him so as to stop the threat he poses on their future motives. Locked in a storage device, he is transported to the nanodome in New York by CELL. CELL had run out of nanosuit soldiers to skin for alien technology that had integrated with their suits where Psycho lost his nanosuit to them, so they requested the transfer of Prophet to the facility as Karl Rasch resigns from the post of CEO in Hargreave-Rasch Biotechnologies, deletes all the research done by him and Hargreave of Ceph Technology so as to stop CELL from acquiring it and secretly releases a brief video of Prophet's whereabout, the influence of the events of first two games and the evolution of Ceph, thus requesting the resistance to free Prophet as only he can stop the CELL and put an end to their corrupt motives and later joins the resistance himself. Members of the resistance, including his former teammate Psycho who now is without his nanosuit, are successfully able to free Prophet from the transport ship, which has docked at the New York nano-dome.
Psycho explains that in Prophet's 20 year absence, CELL used Ceph technology to generate unlimited free energy. Eventually, CELL gained a monopoly over the power supply, and used it to drive everyone into debt. Those who could not pay were sent to "volunteer camps." A resistance movement formed in response to this. It eventually freed Psycho from the skinning labs, and he joined their ranks. The source of CELL's power generation for the entire world, called System X, is also located in the abandoned and encased New York. It has grown into a jungle. Psycho wants System X destroyed to free the world from CELL. Prophet, though worried about his visions of the Alpha Ceph and the end of the world, agrees.

Psycho and Prophet enter the dome, fighting through CELL forces and feral Ceph Stalkers. They reach the resistance headquarters, where they meet Karl Ernst Rasch and Claire Fontanelli, the commander of the resistance. Rasch tries to convince her that Prophet is what the resistance needs to finally overthrow CELL. Despite affirmations from Psycho, with whom she seems to have a special relationship, Claire is skeptical of Prophet, ostensibly because of the extensive modifications, the integration of Ceph genetic material, and the deep integration with his suit. Grudgingly, she agrees.

Their first target is System X's outer defenses. Despite CELL's capacity for infinite power generation, CELL chose to power its defenses with a hydroelectric dam. Prophet hypothesizes that CELL does this because it fears something about System X. Prophet, who continues to have visions, disables the dam and then disables the System X facility. It is revealed that System X is the Alpha Ceph. An inbuilt porgram thus activates to kill the Alpha Ceph. It fails, and the facility self destructs. The Alpha Ceph fires a beam into the atmosphere to open a wormhole to the Ceph home world in the M33 Galaxy. Through this wormhole, they plan to send an invasion force to invade the planet revealing their true motives for inhabitating the planet since millions of years. Prophet resolves to kill the Alpha Ceph and end the threat once and for all. The Ceph hivemind reactivates, and a coordinated Ceph attack ensues.

Prophet learns that he must unlock his suit to defeat the Ceph. Prophet and Psycho head to the skinning laboratory to use the cradle to do this and to find out who was responsible for skinning Psycho. At the facility, they see firsthand the atrocities visited upon the nanosuit soldiers by CELL. Psycho uses the cradle to remove the neural blocks put in place to prevent the Ceph from taking over Prophet's mind. It also lifts the restrictions on the nanobots in Prophet. They are now able to transform. Meanwhile, Psycho does more digging into his past, despite orders from Claire. He discovers that it was Claire who had skinned him and the others at the behest of CELL. Upset, he rebuffs efforts from Claire and Prophet to console him. Claire pleads that he was the reason she joined the resistance, and that she had no other choice. Prophet also claims that he had no other choice, and that he told him what he needed to know at the time of the Lingshan Incident. Psycho finds this unacceptable, as everyone has a choice. He hands Prophet the dogtags of Nomad, Aztec, and Jester, and leaves.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/2/20/Crysis_3_cover.jpg/256px-Crysis_3_cover.jpg
Filmmaker Albert Hughes was commissioned to produce The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3, a series of six short stylized videos, each of which features a different aspect of the game.
Crysis 3 has received generally favorable reviews from critics. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic rated the PlayStation 3 version 81.00% and 82/100, the Xbox 360 version 78.89% and 79/100 and the PC version 78.25% and 80/100.It is the best game created by CRYTEK. Mon, 04 Feb 2013 07:07:59 -0800 The_Last_Ride reviewed Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection for the Xbox 360... http://www.gamespot.com/dragon-ball-z-budokai-hd-collection/user-reviews/807084/platform/xbox360/ ...and gave it a 9.5!

The HD version of Dragonball Z: Budokai shows you how a game can age very well and still look good even after 8 years since it was released. This is a perfect example of how an HD collection should be made.
The bad:
They did not add anything to the game, one could argue that is a good or a bad thing. But this game did not have online mode 8 years ago. They could have added it since this game is very competitive and could have been a great feature for the game. Also The first Budokai game shows clearly it has it struggles as a fighting game, but it is a nice addition to the HD version and it gives you a different feel then the third game.
It might be hard for new users of this game to unlock everything asnd might use guides to unlock all characters and modes
The Good:
Everything is good about the game, that was good 8 years ago. Everything about Budokai 3 has aged very well and is still one of the best fighters there are this millenium.
The game also aged very well, with graphics that looked sharp on the ps2, look even sharper now. But the graphics is something that has aged really well and has not required the most attention i believe.
The basic combat is also very solid, and can still compete with games that are made today. That is saying something about how good this game still is. The teleportation and ki managment makes the game more tactical. Button mashing won't help you at all when playing this game
Audio in this game is also really sharp, and is one of the best aspects of the games. There is something very satifying doing punches and getting the sound for that. Also the rest of the ultamate attacks are still very well done.
The game might be a little harder for newcomers to enjoy, but the story doesn't take a whole lot of time if you want to get to know the story of Dragonball Z.

If you want a solid fighter that still is great today, then get this game. It's such a great fighteing game

This is the first entry in the Little Big Planet Karting series. There is an obvious inspiration from Modnation Racers. But has it's own features and own sense of style and is not a copy of it.
The Bad:
There are little tweaks that could have made the game better in general. Like building your items during a race is not a possibility. It would have been nice to see the carts having some minor differences in handling and speed. The AI can be very punishing or very easy on the same level which can make it hard for some gamers to enjoy completely as it can be punishing some times.
The Good:
The multiplayer is easy to use and enjoy. The menu's aren't very hard to navigate. Costumizing tracks on however you want them to be. A lot of tracks to choose from. There is a lot of ways to costumize your cart and character. The gameplay itself with the light humor of story is easy to enjoy and just let it unfold. The gameplay is very good, making it easy to enter the game, and the tutorial ensures you know what you will do after just a few minutes. It's an easy game to pick up and just play the heck out of it. It gives you good value if you play through the story and also try the multiplayer

This game is great in every aspect and will not dissapoint a basketball fan in any regard whatsoever. Association is well done and will keep you busy a long time. The online mode will let you join others and friends to compete with each other. My Player mode lets you control a single player on the court and try to make the best out of it. Also Teammate challange can get you hooked
The bad:
Framerate issues can get very bad on the xbox sometimes where it can delay the game seconds where the game just freezes. This can get very annoying, espcially when it happens several times in a game. There also seems the focus on the association mode has been slightly forgotten to make the other modes such as Teammate challenge, online and My player mode to be a little more focused than the Association itself.
The Good:
it's a fantastic game to play, with a lot to do. There isn't a lot to say here, but only that this is an amazing game with great gameplay and features to explore. If you let it, you can just spend hours and hours just having plain fun with the game.

Well what can I say about Limbo? Limbo is an atmospheric game the black and white theme is well executed. You play as a kid finding his sister you face angry tribesmen and a giant spider during your adventure.Limbo is basically a puzzle and believe me when I say this it is one of my first puzzle game. Limbo could also be considered as a platformer. Limbo is all about atmosphere the graphics are great, the sound is well executed and the puzzles are well thought ,but the problem for me is the puzzles the puzzles are great and all. Most were challenging some were easy. I keep on dieing again and again its just frustrating I was in a mood where I just wanted to finish the game because its just trial and error. The trial and error just ruins the atmospheric experiance on top of that there is nothing to do after you finish the game.

Just cause 2 a game which is set in Panau you are an agent from America your goal is to assasinate your old mentor Tom Sheldon, and while doing so destory the harsh dictatorship. The game plays well. You can choose difficulty modes and whatnot. The game is open world and the map is so damn big there are a variety of terrains from big city to mountains to desserts etc. You have a grappling hook and the hook helps you get through in such ease as well as killing enemys. There are so many ways of messing around the fun never ends. In order to unlock the storys main missions you have to do faction missions and cause chaos (destory government stuff.)There are 4 factions.Doing all this stuff makes the game repetitive its not very repetitive but you somtimes get a mission where you escort an engineer well you get that mission quite alot. One problem I had while playing this game was the fact that I kept on running out of ammo ! It just gets really annoying having to loot enemys in big scale fights. The game also has a record feature and the graphics are the best I have seen in a game.

The game is amazing. The sound is great the main menu is good although they could have added more modes. The graphics are cool and flashy. The main charachter has a sense of humour his accomplice doesent. The main charachter is in a suit the suit is preety awesome you can boost and enter a special mode that slows down time, however there is one downside to this case if you use the powers for more then 20 secs the suit overheats and you have to wait 20secs for it to cool down. The AR mode is awesome you can jump out of cover and activate Ar mode. I can imagine some cool gifs being created. The cover mode is well implemented. Quicktime events arent a chore in boss fights. Overall this is a good game but its fun while it lasts it finishes so quickly but you can always change the difficulty and play again.

Sat, 26 Jan 2013 12:35:01 -0800 SuperNovaftw reviewed Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the PlayStation 3... http://www.gamespot.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-ii/user-reviews/806773/platform/ps3/ ...and gave it a 9.0!

I have got all Cod games. This is the best one yet!

Presentation:Cod games dont change much. I never care about the look of the menus especially since Treyarch have done a marvellous job.Call Of Duty games dont change much in terms of graphics but the graphics are good. I feel that this game looks better then Black ops 1 but not by a large margin. The game runs at around 60fps in multiplayer which is very good for consoles especially compared to other games that run at 30fps.

Campaign: The best campaign in a Call of Duty game. First lets start with the story. The story switches between the future and the 1980s. In the 1980's you play as Mason ,and in 2025 you play as Mason's son. The game has a villian Raul Mendez who is set out for revenge. Woods returns and 2 other characters return (although they dont stay for long). The game is fun to play different levels are varied and you are put in decisions that can change the game.Infact there are 5 different endings to the game. Strike force missions also help to decide the ending. Strike force missions add a tactical part to the game. You basically control different units sentry, soldiers, helicopters etc and you use them to escort someone or defend a base. Every strike force mission is varied and different , although it isnt for everyone I skipped most of them. Also you can adjust your loadout before a mission. You unlock most of the weapons throughout the game.

Multiplayer: Call of duty is well known for its multiplayer for 2 important reasons its fun and addictive. Call of duty is the same as any past COD game you have call cards, emblems, new killstreaks, new modes, challenges. Regardless if there are new changes or not the game is a blast to play. If I get bored of the main boards (I hardly do) I just play the Party modes which are a blast to play. Theres also league play where you unlock everything from the start and you play with people at your level.

Zombies:Zombies is what separates black ops to Modern wafare. Zombies is great fun with freinds there are new modes here.
