They placed an order and it finally arrived today!

The box is a simple white color but the contents are beautiful. Each game has artwork on the CD that I have never seen before.

The only negative is that the games were re-released on their original formats so unless you have a backwards compatible PS3 or your original PS1 and PS2 up in working order, you can't play most of the games. However, this doesn't matter to me because I just wanted this set for its Collector Value and rarity. Too bad other 25th Anniversary games don't do something like this. I would love to see a Box set of Dragon Warrior/Quest, Metroid, Castlevania and Legend of Zelda.

Totally worth the $450 I spent because it is easily the best wheel I have ever used. Not to mention having a 6-speed manual with clutch is so much more fun. I daily drive a manual, but learning to race with one took some extra practice. Overall though I started doing better at the game than I did before.

However, sadly, after I moved into my new apartment at the beginning of this month my wheel started acting up. Not sure what happened between then and now, but for whatever reason the wheel disconnects from the system if you turn it too far to the left or right making it impossible to play anything.

I emailed back and forth with Fanatec support a bit. Tried adjusting various wheel settings and updating the firmware, but to no avail. The problem persists. Although a silver lining remains in that they are send me a replacement wheel (free of charge as far as I know), which is great because the wheel alone was $250. Sucks that it broke, but I am glad the company is working with me to make it right. Leave it to those Germans for good customer service!

My RMA was sent in so hopefully now I just wait for the new wheel and then ship my defective one back to them. Would I buy one again? Most definitely. It's a great racing wheel. It's disappointing that it failed while not yet that old. Hopefully this next one will last longer.

I was spending about £10 (roughly) on Kodak AA batteries for my two controller's. Looked at the option of the charger kit. The stadard charge takes 8 or so hours to fully charge and you only get two hours of play before you have to plug the wire back in? What is the point of that?! My mates think wired controller's are oldskool. Ah f**k it! Bought a wired controller today which offers unlimited gameplay. Who cares if I am "stuck in the 90's" the wired controller is the best!

Mon, 12 Sep 2011 00:15:26 -0700 Saruman1719 writes: The VHS Horror Film Collecting Has Begun http://www.gamespot.com/users/Saruman1719/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25950222 Besides the fact that my last blog was a year and a half ago, the topic I wanted to approach was a blog I wrote over two years ago where I waxed on fondly about my nostalgia and love for horror films of yesteryear on VHS and how I was thinking about collecting them. Personally, though I have loved ones to tell me anyways, I probably have a bit of a problem because I also love Blu-ray and seeing all my favorites like never before. I will continue to buy them, but every now and then, I get this urge to just sit back with some beers and good food and watch a sh*tty quality horror film on VHS. Until yesterday afternoon, I hadn't accomplished any of the dream I set down over two years.

I had gone to some thrift stores over the past couple of weekends, but they didn't have anything I had in mind, though there were plenty of VHS tapes overall. Then I went to a flea market yesterday and browsed around and while they are not amazing finds, since they are fairly common films, one vendor had Halloween, Halloween 5, The Thing (1982), Night of the Living Dead (1968 ), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), and The House On Haunted Hill (1959). Besides Halloween 5, these are all favorites of mine and the kind of films I wanted to watch and fondly pretend I was a young kid again with. Each movie was a buck apiece.

After grabbing a VCR and 27 inch SDTV (nice and lightweight, not like the old behemoth Sony Trinitron I finally got rid of earlier this year) for a grand total of $25 at a Goodwill, I mused on the way home that I must indeed be getting eccentric at the ripe old age of 26. I cleaned the player and TV which are in very good condition, plugged them in, adjusted the language that was set to French back to English, and popped in a VHS tape for the first time in 9 years: none other than Halloween of course. I sat there, listening to slight buzzing of the TV, the tape loading into the machine, all the little noises that come from watching a VHS. Halloween begins playing and I'm instantly transported back to the times I would watch it as a young maybe 10 or 11 year old.

This particular copy of it wasn't that great, true. It had lines going up vertically and until I tried another tape, I thought it might have been the TV at first. So yeah, even I kind of forgot just how bad the picture quality and detail is compared to DVD and to a far greater extent, Blu-ray of course. But that's kind of the point, isn't it? I don't know about a kid who grows up with only HD content, I'm sure there's the odd one here and there, but I don't think you can endure watching a VHS unless you have very fond memories and experiences firsthand with the format growing up. All the things I mentioned last time have helped mold this sick fascination, nostalgia, and straight up blind love I have for VHS. I don't think I could watch non-horror again on it, other than family videos, but there's something really romantic in a way about viewing a genre like horror on such a outdated and dead format. Horror is the one genre that can get away with the crappy quality because it adds something to the grimy nature of the movie. I know on VHS that it's not the correct aspect ratio in most cases, it looks like sh*t, the picture pops and skips sometimes, but when you grow up with it and that's how you got into movies, you just can't help but be fond of it. If you're deranged like me that is lol.

Of course, if anyone is familar with something like the Video Nasties of the 80's, they would know that horror and VHS has always had a special relationship with each other. If there's something I love about the horror genre, it is its rich history and sense of discovery.People can scoff and thumb their nose down at it, but horror is special and I maintain that it has the most passionate, well-informed, understanding and forgiving fans.

Back to the actual VHS watching. So after Halloween, I watched another Carpenter favorite that ranks very very high on my list, The Thing. This was actually a pretty good copy of the film and I enjoyed watching it again on VHS. I'll probably end up following asleep because it's late, but after this blog, I'm going to watch Night of the Living Dead or House on Haunted Hill.

So, as mentioned, obviously I'm still buying and enjoying DVD's and Blu-ray's, and pulling out the VCR will be something special I do maybe on a weekend each month or whenever I happen to find some of the films I really want to get on VHS. It's just nice to reminisce and even though I'm not old yet, I find myself doing it more and more. I still live my life in the present, it's not like I'm holed up in a room with my childhood things alone with no girlfriend, no job, etc, so I think it is ok to do things like this. Anyone relate at all?

I know I haven't blogged in almost a year (sorry about that) but I have two pieces of news to update anyone who actually still cares here.

Firstly, I have now graduated from Coventry University with a First class honours degree in Multimedia Computing...Big Woo for me!! It was a damn tough 3 years with a hell of a lot of work, but it was totally worth it and I've been celebrating ever since! Hopefully it'll stand me in good stead for the future, which leads me on to my other news...

Me and Aylin (Whitewolf725) are still together and have spent the last month and a half together in England. In a couple of weeks I'll be flying with her back to the US to spend a further 3 months together and hopefully during that time we can find something for me out there so I can really start planning the permanent move over. Anyway, yesterday was Aylin's 22nd birthday, and guess what? I proposed to her...and she said yes, and so...I'M ENGAGED!!! We met on Gamespot a couple of years ago, and now we're engaged to be married, its amazing! No plans for a date yet, but once we're settled, we'll begin the planning stages. For the girly stuff like how I popped the question , go and read the blog of my FIANCEE!! Sorry, sounds cool to say. . The only other thing I'll mention is that I couldn't be happier and that it was probably the easiest decision of my life.

As this is a gaming site, I guess I should say a little bit about that huh?...Umm...played a few games recently...all good...Heavy Rain is amazing...there.

How's everyone else doing?

Wed, 05 May 2010 13:22:14 -0700 Geusprime writes: Halo: Reach suggestions http://www.gamespot.com/users/Geusprime/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25822143 So I've spent a good deal of time playing the Halo: Reach beta. I'm not a long time Halo fan. In fact, 3 was the first game of the series in which I even took interest. I've had many complaints regarding the multiplayer of 3 and even the spirit of the multiplayer in the series. After seeing Reach first hand I'm somewhat disappointed that the steps needed to make Halo a serious multiplayer franchise have been neglected. The following are some of my comments/suggestions on the matter:

1. Players should only SPAWN WITHONE GRENADE. As there is already an abundance of grenades in both of the stages, players are hardly grenade starved. Matches (particularly capture the flag) become little more than grenade lobbing contests as logically players are going to use the attack to kill in one hit when they need to kill another player in a pitch. What I don't understand is why give players shields, if you are also going to have one shot kills? I have no problem with one shot kills; hell my favorite shooter is Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but pick a stance and stick to it.

2. WEAPON OPTIONS ON LOADOUT. This is pretty self explanatory as dozens of other shooters have been doing it for years. I find it annoying when playing that I'm constantly scrambling for the item or weapon which does the most damage. I can understand having the rocket launcher, grenade launcher or death beam guns spawn once a match and not give the players the option to loadout with them, but there is no reason every other gun shouldn't be fair game. It's ridiculous to have players wait by weapon spawns so that they can use their favorite gun. Let people have fun with certain limitations.

3. This brings me to my next point. DON'T HAVE EXPLOSIVE WEAPONS IN SMALL STAGES. Seriously, this should be easy to understand. If you have tiny rooms (ie Powerhouse) please don't give idiots the chance to kill everyone in said room because they were lucky enough to spawn closer to the "kill everyone in the room with one shot" weapon.

4. BUFF THE ASSAULT RIFLE. When you have game where a player can easily pick up a weapon that will 3 shot or 1 shot another player, why would they use the weapon they spawn with that takes an entire freaking clip to kill someone? This further turns the game into a scramble for weapons littered about the area of the map. Other games stopped doing weapon scrambles about 10 years ago; pick up the pace.

This is the meat of my suggestions for now. I'll come back to it if anything profound strikes me.
