Personally, I would prefer that Nintendo of America and those opposed to it declare truces with each other, back off from their stances and sweep the issue under the rug until it rears its ugly head again - hopefully until after the unlikely event that human civilization as we know it no longer needs money.

(I wish that I was completely joking about that, but I am digressing.)

If they still want to be at loggerheads with each other then, then they, and anyone with a stake, such as the "Let's Play" video-making folks, should compromise and go for the win-win solution of sharing revenue.

That is because any other outcome (barring that everyone just drops the issue and goes on business-as-usual) has everyone losing.

IF THE OPPOSITION GETS ITS WAY...

Before going further, I would remind people that the notion of property is one of the oldest lynchpins of human civilization. If the newer aspects of modern civilization, namely freedom rights, are allowed to trump it, then we are going backwards, just like we would if property is to ascend above freedom rights.

That said, Nintendo is certainly thinking that it is entitled to revenue that is generated by YouTube videos that feature its properties. A legal argument against this will be terrifically difficult to formulate, but if litigation is pursued anyway, then we run the risk of having Nintendo harden itself, and a hardened Nintendo will very likely be an ugly Nintendo.

You may want to be reminded that Nintendo of America had signed the letter to the Congress of USA in support of legislations that protect IPs. There is not any strong evidence that Nintendo had thrown its weight behind SOPA or withdrew support from it, but it just might think of having a more blatant official stance if the likes of Lamar Smith brings that bill out of the shelves again or creates a new similar bill while Nintendo is contesting a legal challenge against its attempts to claim all ad revenue for said YouTube videos.

In other words, we risk having this issue being blown into something bigger if it escalates into a legal battle.

If Nintendo loses, there is of course the old-but-difficult-to-dismiss expectation that a Nintendo bereft of a potential source of income becomes weaker and lousier at making games; money is how the likes of Nintendo gets the resources and ideas to make games after all. A weakened game-maker is rarely a good thing for anyone with a stake in the gaming industry, the people who make those Let's Play videos included.

Of course, one can just say "f*ck Nintendo", but not everyone hates Nintendo, is it? We can look elsewhere other than Nintendo, but such antagonistic scenarios are likely to repeat with other game-makers instead of Nintendo until the involved parties learn to hand figurative olive branches to each other.

IF NINTENDO GETS ITS WAY...

That would be awful, because it would turn into a lose-lose outcome for certain.

To elaborate, there could be a boycott of Nintendo's properties by YouTube content-makers, since they don't get any income from making videos featuring Nintendo's properties if Nintendo gets to eat all the advertising revenue. Barring die-hard Nintendo supporters, they have no incentive to make videos on the game-maker's products, especially if they depend on the ad revenue for their livelihood.

Nintendo, and any other game-maker that has similar plans, can forget about being paid for marketing work that it does not fund.

However, the ones that would lose out most are game consumers who are doing research into possible purchases. They may well lose the sources of information that those YouTube videos featuring games could have provided.

In addition, such an outcome may well stall the advent of a new kind of career that is being formed in this Age of Information, namely that of people making a living making videos on the Internet.

I am aware that some of you have more than enough scorn for such people to utter statements such as "Get a real job!" - among other far less courteous remarks - but some of us actually like seeing new kinds of careers coming into being.

A COMPROMISE: SHARING REVENUE

If Nintendo has any wisdom, it may want to consider proposing the sharing of revenues. It is more than likely to run into opposition anyway, of course - there will always be people who believe that they are fully entitled to all of the revenue from the advertisements that accompany their videos, as well as those who believe that Nintendo should be reamed.

However, I like to believe that most of those opposing Nintendo's move to attempt to claim the ad revenue in their entirety would reciprocate if Nintendo was to propose sharing of revenues.

If they could shake hands and work out the proportions of their shares, this agreement can even turn into a partnership of product promotion, e.g. Nintendo gives them preview builds of games to make videos with and such. That would give the likes of Nintendo more partners to highlight their products with, in addition to the established gaming sites.

Most importantly, the regular game consumer would benefit from this, as there would be richer sources of information on games, upcoming or existing.

Here's hoping that Nintendo and the opposition would come together for the win-win.

P.S. My account is still afflicted with one of the glitches that have been reported here, so I won't be able to reply in any way in the LiveFyre thread below.

How long should a game be when buying it. There are some games that are only 5 hours long. Some are over 100 hours long if you explore the game. This is an issue i feel should be viewed and discussed more

[ Watch Video ]

When paying full price for a game i feel that there should be more content than just 5 hours, even though they are really good. If the singleplayer is that short, they should maybe have a mutliplayer/co op part in the game. It is something i think should be shed light on. When someone required the player to pay the full price on a game and only have a short singleplayer experience i pushing it in my opinion.

[ Watch Video ]

Now some might say you can wait and buy the game when it is cheaper, it is beside the point. Because the publisher and developer release the game for a full price and considering it finish. If developers don't have time or means, they should lower the price on the game and make it more accesible for people rather than just making it full price at launch.

I don't know if anyone has any opinion on this like me, i would like to know though

Hello my fellow gamers,

just writing this blog to let everyone know that I am still alive and kicking in my GS profile. I been away on holidays from work, while I been away I have decided to conduct my own research in creating a AAA rated game for the near future. The challenge has proven to be a very complex and interesting tast at hand. The good news to this, is that so far I have actually managed to come up with a few art work, story lines and game design software intel.

I am currently looking for people who are also interested in doing the same task or is looking to just join me in obtaining more information in this topic. All are welcome to send me message in my inbox or continue to blog me on my page with the information they have at hand. I believe together we can create some interesting gaming conversation online about this idea.

Well I guess that is all for now peeps, if anything else pops up I will make sure I keep everyone informed as soon has I get more updates. Peace and hope to get some interesting replies from you all. Thanks!

Well guys, it's been almost a year since I've posted a blog on here. I think this is way overdue, and I have a lot to talk about!

First of all, (Portal humor follows) I'm still alive.

I made it through my first year of college, and I'm back home for summer. You know what that means: It's time to get back to gaming.

When I last updated this page, I was pretty unhappy. It was my birthday, and my old PS3's hard drive had crashed. I think it may have YLODed, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, that's ancient history. I got a new PS3 slim shortly afterwards, and getting back to where I was in my games has given me the chance to replay some old favorites (Demon's Souls comes to mind). That's also, however, ancient history.

After buying my new PS3, I went off to college and didn't play much for a while, because I was kind of busy. The first new game I picked up after that was Fallout: New Vegas, and I have to say I only played it for a few hours total. I'm not sure why, but it just didn't keep my interest, perhaps because it really wasn't much different from Fallout 3. Perhaps I should have given it more time, but I have a feeling it wouldn't have mattered much.

I got Bioshock 2 about a month ago. It was extremely cheap on Amazon (about $10), and I needed some fun. I have to say, it exceeded my expectations. While the story was not quite as good as the first, and the novelty of Rapture was gone, the gameplay was noticeably superior to the first. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone who has played the first Bioshock, especially now that it's cheap.

Since I got home recently, I picked up Portal 2, which I finished yesterday. I have to say that I was very impressed. I won't give anything away, but I'll say that Portal 2 stands above Portal, and I especially enjoyed the new characters and puzzle mechanics. It's definitely worth at least a rent, since it isn't an especially long game. I haven't tried the co-op yet, but I expect it to be great as well. Anyway, I'm planning on writing a review for it soon, so keep an eye out.

So now I have L.A. Noire waiting to be played, and I can't figure out if I should start it now or play it when I'm living out of town for a month, which will be in about a week. I'd be open to suggestion from anyone who has played it! I'm looking forward to something different from Rockstar, which I keep hearing L.A. Noire is.

There are also a lot of games that I'm looking forward to right now, but I guess my wallet isn't looking forward to it! Infamous 2 comes out in early June, which I am very excited about. I'm eager for much more for the rest of this year, though. Resistance 3 comes out in September. Dark Souls comes out in October. Uncharted 3 and The Elder Scrolls V arrive in November. Battlefield 3, Agent and Dead Island may be out late December. Of course, next year starts off for me with Bioshock Infinite. It's like a gamer's dream come true…

Happy Gaming

Right off bat, I was excited for the game simply because the story and concept were a wonderful setting for books, movies and now it was playable. The writer, John Milius that is known for such films as Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn was on board, so my interest was peaked. Had the reservation, picked it up day one, got home later that evening with nobody to bother me, embraced the fresh scent of a new game, and was off to adventures!

Pressing start for any new game is quite the pleasure. Figured if I was gonna get the full effect why not start off on hard. Most shooting games have a similar learning curve… don't get shot. The first level was sufficient in explaining the back story, and then you're set on a conveyer belt of exposition revealing the world that's soon to be explored. Everything starts off well, THEN you take control of the main character who is some faceless/voiceless important to the team nobody, and excitement fades. Movement took some adjusting to. Playing so many shooters where the main character actually has some weight within the world (Portal, Modern Warfare, DOOM) I was taken back by the slippery aim and movement. At that moment, it kind of made sense why there was an "aim assist" in the options screen. I trucked on.

Graphically, I wasn't impressed. And usually that line doesn't come from me, nor has it ever been a real deal breaker. Sadly, Homefront suffers from the dreaded invisible barrier nonsense; an unavoidable plague when funneling players from one end of the level to another. Maybe since I started using the HDMI plug in for my TV, my attention to detail has been a little over-zealous. Either way, the character animation for your squad mates and numerous baddies is kind of robotic. Even worse, when moving around the environment there are minor troubles navigating around objects and stairwells. Once again, not a deal breaker… but quite the nuisance.

After mixing for about 3 hours, I reached a good point in the story to stretch and get my samich on. Besides the story being written by a well known person, Homefront was lauded for its online multiplayer action. Something that also peaked my interest in a day one pick up. Any online shooter that isn't Call of Duty gets me excited, simply because I like to think my chances in the online arena improve. Maybe not so much, but it's a nice thought. Five minutes into a ground control match, I quickly realized most of the people who play games like CoD are shooting me every which way -- their gamer profiles confirmed this unfortunate reality. Learning the land of a few maps helped, and my expansive knowledge of shooters told me getting shot is not what the cool kids would do… so I hung back and did some sniping/recon. That plan went out the window pretty quick when everyone and their mother decided to drop missiles through out the level.

Like most popular shooters, Homefront caters to skills, perks, unlockables, and numerous other death dealing advantages. Get on a kill streak and earn everything from faster running speeds to special abilities that allow you to see other players without buying equipment. Every action has a "battle point" value, so while in the thick of it you can use these points to buy equipment (body armor, rocket launchers, drones, etc) that are arranged in the pre-game lobby. It's a fun concept and really motivates one to get involved. Rake in enough points and you can start going nuts by purchasing vehicles.

Since the single player kept vehicle action to a minimum, familiarity is scarce; vehicle controls work mighty well and are easy to pick up though. Acquiring enough points to rampage around in a tank or attack chopper is quite the endeavor online. If your slow on the draw, other players will be freaky fast about taking you out, so coordination among teammates is kind of essential, especially on the much larger 32-player maps.

Overall, Homefront's online game play is solid. If you can stomach the barrage of every military bullet and gizmo raining down on you, the 32-player maps and vehicle action alone is enough for a rental. As for a full price purchase… nnoooot so much. Clocking in barely at 5 hours when the credits rolled, I was feeling sorely burned by the extremely short campaign. Not like this hasn't happened with shooters before, but crunching the numbers basically told me I was paying $10 an hour for a measly 6 chapters of story that could have offered so much more. Epic Fail!

Time to break out that expansion for Dead Space 2…

But when i got home and played it, i was amazed at how much they improved on the multiplayer. Also, i think that this was the first game that the single player got me so attracted to the characters (not like the gay type of attraction lol). But i felt like i had to do everything not to get shot and help out my "brothers".

but ya i dont have much time to write about it so i will jsut leave it at ..... its better than Cod MW2

Apparently John Cena was in town (Joplin, MO) for some wrestling match and stopped by the powerhouse gym. He had a bus and everything.

So the guy is a pretty big d bag. One guy asked "Are you who I think you are", and Cena just say's "Well that's a pretty vague f***ing questions isn't it?" and walks away, and then ignored another guy who just said "Hey".

Complete trash.

I know that some people might think that it's stupid to just sit down and waste our time watching a bird, but to be honest, bird watching is actually considered a hobby, and some people enjoy doing it on a daily bases!

Some people enjoy this hobby because, as you could guess, it makes them feel comfortable and peaceful by just watching them. Some people do it for educational purposes. At home, we don't feed birds for obvious reasons, but we do put a bowl of cold water for them. What encouraged us to do that is because sometimes we see some scenes like the one below.....

What does this picture tell you? I took this picture back in July so it's clear that they are suffering from the heat and thus they probably came here under the shade to cool down, and thus, it does indicate that they are thirsty in some way, right? So giving them water will not only make them happier, but it also makes us feel better from inside as well, psychologically speaking. Some people have parrots or other types of birds as pets at their homes due to this reason, in order to reduce stress and feel better about themselves, especially for those who love nature.

Do you like watching birds even if it were for a minute? Do you think that watching them does reduce stress and possibly make people overall happier by watching them everyday?

Quote for the week:

"It's surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you're not comfortable within yourself, you can't be comfortable with others." -- Sydney J. Harris

Dunno what other people do for fun this days (blow up stuff), but this young adult wanted to get his butt kicked in Modern Warfare 2. So he fires up his PS3, enters the game and....HOLY MOTHER OF SPACE MONKEYS! PSN won't connect. Ok Freakazoid, calm down, must be your ISP screwing with you. Nope, my laptop is connected. Well then let's ask man's best friend about this.

- Mister Google, wth is going on here, dude?

- Dear Ma'am, Sony f*cked up your PS3. Go be an hero.

Oh noes, what to do? So my idiot brain comes up with the great idea to go play MotorStorm in singleplayer. Now, MS was my first PS3 game, but I kinda played it for like...3 hrs max. Thing is, I suck at driving, I don't have a drivers permit, don't own a car, quited driving school after 4 hrs, and almost ran into a fence while at it. So I SUCK AT DRIVING! Big time. Aaaand...aparently I suck at DRIVING GAMES too. Ok, the keyboard helps a bit, but damn! driving with the SIXAXIS (w/e) is like driving the real deal. I bump other cars, splash my car into rocks, and don't let me go into driving motorcycles. After playing for sometime, my mom comes up to me and says I gotta go take anger management (yes, still living with ma mom). So I might just go back to driving school to just finish this damn game.

I wonder if they will let me be a mercenary just 'cuz I'm awesome at MW2.

I was all like "Can I have my keys back?" then she was like "You got to get them off me!" so I chased her around the blocked twice! xD and ran around in her house for 40mins! The reason why is because I moved interstate, she always took my house keys when we were at school

So after that was over and done with that, I said good bye and went to see my family. Then a few other friends.

Tuesday: WARM UP DAY! before I moved from NWS to QLD i use to race in legally controlled environments (race car tracks) So it was warm up day for all the races so the whole day I was spending the day driving my cars and getting use to driving again.

Wednesday: RACE DAY! So it was race day! :S :S I was up against people who have been racing non-stop for the last two years. But I haven't drived for a year until yesterday :S :S. Anyway I was so AWESOME! xD i was like "I PWN N00BS" I kick butt and came 1st over all! I was so happy I kissed me-self *tehe*

Thursday: Ok yesterday was "AWESOME" so i went to Parramatta shopping centre. And its like "Let the HUNTING begin!" is was like Counter-strike and Metal Gear Solid all over again! So I was snake first and ROFLMAO I pwned everyone! it's was cardboard box and BOOM HEADSHOT time! we ended up getting kicked out for "Disturbing the peace" but it didn't matter we went back in! so Thursday was playing in the centre having Fun!

So that's it for now there will be a part 3 to this when i get the chance!
